    Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?

Have to agree I have seen a tonne of 1st pitch strikes right down the pipe in RTTS on All star.

Not noticed it as much in exhibition games.

Suspect this should be fixed with difficulty/ sliders though.

    I wouldn't call it a 'bug'

If this is indeed a glitch and you guys want it possibly fixed, I encourage you to post the strike % from the pitcher analysis filter that I mentioned earlier in this thread. I ran a few CPU vs, CPU games and pitchers sometimes go as low as 45% in strike % (natural variance). So I'm not seeing your issues myself.

... Impressions only go so far sometimes.

One other thing to note is that difficulty level gets lowered under the hood down in minor league games in RTTS. So CPU may throw slightly more strikes (but not always... only a couple %) in AA or even AAA. But that's by design so you might want to increase the difficulty above your natural level if this bothers you so much.

I think you don't see it until you see it. I didn't notice it until i read this thread. Then i played a game focusing on it. To start 7 of the 9 innings i received a fastball that i would consider down the middle, one of the other two was a low fastball and in the other was a slider well outside the zone. The two relievers i faced was the same thing. It was only in these cases that it happened consistently.

If its only the first pitch of the inning, or a new pitcher. I do not think first pitch percentage for the game is that telling. Those are the only situations i have see this to a high degree.

I was only able to play one series last night in RTTS, but 11 out of 12 AB started with a fastball down the middle. It was so noticeable I kept track of it.

My pitcher strike slider was and is set at 1 or 2 and never been higher and get the meatball. The game is ridiculously easy this year and this is making it crazier

I have the strike frequency slider at 0 and in RTTS I'm still getting fastballs down the middle almost every first pitch. I'm someone that likes to work the count and draw walks but it's almost impossible knowing you are going to get an easy first pitch to hit.

It's definately an issue on All-Star. I will try HoF later tonight, as I get the feeling this year's All-Star is last year's Veteran (which I had this problem last year on Veteran).

My overall strike % ends up fine, and I even had 4 walks last game. But there's definately a tendency for the CPU to groove fastball after fastball straight down the pipe. Like perfectly centered.

After the 3rd game in a row I had 8 run leads by the 3rd inning. On All-Star. It felt like it was either a pitch down the middle or an easy ball.

Looks like I will be in slider hell this year! Too bad, because the overall polish and gameplay is the best yet.

HOF is the same thing and sliders don't help.

From my time at CD, I know for certain that first pitch hittable pitches is a stat that the Devs do track.

I encourage anyone seeing this to track it themselves and post screenshots and/or data. Ideally, in CPU vs. CPU mode because the pitching logic does change if the Human player is constantly taking them.

This has had to be lowered 2-3 notches for every year since I can remember.
This should do the trick, yes. Drop it to 2-3 you'll see a difference.

are you guys seeing the first pitch meatballs in just RTTS or in Exhibition/Franchise too?

Is this the pitcher consistency slider?

Thus far, every "a pitcher's first pitch of the game" I've checked has been a fastball near the middle for me also.

This is in CPU vs CPU games.

I'm not actually paying attention to this or studying it or anything, for the record. I just happened to be running a CPU vs CPU game this morning when I saw this thread, so I went and checked, and all 3 pitchers (starter and reliever on one side) threw a fastball for their very very first pitch.

Now on my second CPU game, and I checked pitch analysis immediately after the 1st pitch, on both sides.... Same thing.

I don't have an actual opinion or comment at this time, but I just wanted to put my observations out there.
