Also I think this may be built in for all levels because with people complaining in the past that hitting was too difficult what better way to improve it then by lobbing a nice tasty piece of meat right down the pipe first pitch.
I understand you guys are frustrated but this is getting out of hand.

I spent a good deal of time with the Developement team, including Brian SCEA. Yes, SCEA intended on increasing offense this year, and yes, there were some countermeasures put in place to ensure that it didn't inflate unrealistically.

But trust me when I say that intentionally giving us first pitch of the inning meatballs was not done on purpose.

I've put CPU strike frequency down by a click or two, and increased their control by a notch or two, I think that will decrease first pitch strikes while not letting them fall too far behind in the count all the time.

I've noticed that even if I forget to call timeout, the pitch is seldom a meatball anymore.

Perhaps once you call a TO with the proper timing, the bug is removed for the remainder of the game?

        I don't know.

That's my experience exactly as I've mentioned couple of pages before. One timeout fixed it in all modes. Let's see how much this will last.

Update/Edit: I just remembered that I've made a slider tweak setting Wind at 8 value before taking a TO. Idk if that alone has a major impact on pitches. Someone who still has the problem can give it a go and report back.

All I know is as soon as I started using the timeout method in my RTTS it was like a completely different game, and my batting average has plummeted to .270 haha..

guess i have to relearn my patience at the plate I had in mlb12 now!

Same here! I went from killing it in AAA and I'm now down at .278 swinging at everything.

Has anyone tried going through beginner mode at all? If the bug is related to the mode, going through it may fix the meatball. I'll try in RTTS if no one else has.

That was me too. Was so accustom to first pitch being a strike that once I started using timeout it took some time for my plate discipline to come around.

how do you call time out as the batter? sorry new to the game. i read that in the show 11 it was done by hitting down on the d pad. is that true? i want to try this walk around after work.. tired of the first ball strikes..

                      Correct, down on the D-pad.

Make sure you call time out AFTER the pitcher has selected his pitch. Look at the pitch options and as soon as they become grayed out or somewhat transparent, then call time.

For what it's worth I don't think the problem is in Veteran mode. I know it's too easy on that mode but the CPU pitchers throw balls all the time, even on the first pitch.

You're not alone here. I was getting the meatball issue all the time in RTTS just like many others. Before I had even read about the work around I fixed the problem myself, on accident.

7th inning, the opposing team brought in a reliever to face me with runners on the corners. I got a phone call and called time. Got off the phone, resumed game, expected that meatball and it didn't come!

I haven't seen the issue since.
