Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I tried doing beginner mode on RTTS to see if finishing it fixed the problem. I leveled to 6/6, but the problem is still there.
However, I did learn that it seems to only affect the starting pitchers. The relief pitchers that came in pitched more normally on the first pitch of the AB. They still threw a first pitch fastball strike sometimes, but it's the minors so they tend to do that anyways. Whereas, with the starting pitcher, the first pitch is always the #1 pitch right down the middle.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
You don't need sliders to fix the meatball bug, the timeout workaround works fine.
But if you're also looking to improve strike percentage, yes I've modified my sliders. Off the top of my head, 3,4,4: control, consistency, strike frequency, on Hall of Fame difficulty.
If you play on All-Star, I'd recommend something like 4, 5, 3. That's pretty much off the top of my head though.Comment

I haven't done any systematic pitch tracking but I am seeing first pitch breaking balls outside the zone. The pitch variety is there for me but I don't regularly go very deep into the counts while I'm playing RTTS so I can't get a good feel for strike rate. I usually only see 2-4 pitches per PA.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I'm gona have to try this on Franchise Mode. It only seems to happen for first pitches of every inning and after pitching changes. Hopefully calling timeouts won't get too annoying.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
Not sure if it's been said, but I found a quick and easy way to reproduce it. It might help the guys at SCEA.
In practice mode, choose the Good At-Bat mode and the first pitch will be a meat ball.
And now unlike some of the other modes, there isn't a restart option. So change mode to say timing and once the loads, change back to Good At-Bat.
At least for me, after rough 6-8 times in a row, the first pitch would be down the pipe.
This might be an easier way to see if the issue is affecting you or not. It's pretty evident.
NVM: there isn't a restart option on any mode. Not sure what I was thinking.

That's what makes this such a nagging issue... hope the devs can track down the real trigger of this problem.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I love when people blame the game for them sucking at it. Instead of complaining online about how much you suck, try practicing and get better. Whining here won't solve the problem. People can give you advice, but if you don't know how to execute it, the advice is pointless. No one can help you, if you can't help yourself.Comment
