I also do 30 Teams but only focus on updating rotations, lineups and injuries for My Division. Saves some time because once that OSFM roster hits, I'm anxious to start my franchise

I would prefer to control just one team, but will probably do 30 to make sure lineups are ok.

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control

Anybody who thinks 30 team control is time consuming is not using it right...at all. Like Knight said, if you have the settings correct for 30 team control, it allows you to ignore other teams if you want. It's great because it lets you make changes to other teams if you want, allows you to veto any trade if you want, etc. while still technically only controlling 1 team.

I personally could not understand why anybody WOULDN'T use it.

Rather than quote a bunch of posts...I'll just give you guys a quick breakdown on how I use 30 team control as a minimalist.

          Create 2 separate profiles
-Profile 1 Knight(insert your name here)
--this profile has everything set to manual as I like to do everything for my team
-Profile 2 has everything set to AUTO
--I really don't want to do anything for the other teams
---HOWEVER.....I do check the PENDING TRANSACTIONS page everyday. If there is a trade proposal I do not like...I decline the trade. If there is one I think benefits both teams...I immediately accept it. If I'm on the fence about it....I then let the teams decide(it's usually accepted...I don't think I've seen one proposal CPU to CPU that isn't ready to accept.
---I also will look at injuries and once in a while sign a FA for a team mid season(if they are contending) OR I will set the "seeking" or the "trade block" for teams to see if I can get a team what I think they need.

As someone said....drafting is now automatically taken care of by the CPU this year if it is set to AUTO

That's it....and I only do the above by choice.
By setting the second profile to all AUTO...you are setting the franchise up EXACTLY as if you only picked one team to control. EXACTLY!

(and as Irish said....the one remaining "minus" is that you do have to sim the other games for the out of town scoreboard....STILL asking for an AUTO sim(by checking off the games you want to play...the others will auto resolve)....maybe next year!

Doing 15-team control, this year. N.L. only.

Great suggestions and I did not realize that you can now have the CPU draft this year, big upgrade. The reason I get so OCD with Lineups/Rotations is because I value the OSFM rosters and the time spent into creating those (I think we all appreciate the roster makers). I always select a poor MLB franchise because I get the opportunity to use OSFM prospects sooner via callups and trades. Also, I like the idea of checking the pending transaction page just to monitor any outlandish moves. Thanks guys for the help, this year's Show will be most enjoyable yet.

The only time I use 30 team control is when I replay classic seasons. I just make sure no trades happen to keep the rosters static. I just turn on CPU roster control no trades, no injuries.

When I do a,current or classic franchise. I do single team control and just focus on my squad.

The auto resolve for the out of town games would make it very worth doing the 30 team. Really was hoping they would have this for 13

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control

I understand the purposes of 30 team control and I don't think it's too time consuming to use it, nor do I begrudge anyone for doing so. What some consider time consuming others may not. We all have different schedules. I use single team control, simply because I only want to worry about my team, not any of the other 29 teams. I mean if the Angels decide to trade Mike Trout or bat him 9th do you think Frank Wren cares? Of course not so why should I? I worry about the Braves and that's it, it's my only responsibility. I mean I'm playing a series vs the Nat's now and they are starting Roger Bernadina instead Denard Span and although it bugs me a little, I just move on and have the attitude that if that's what the CPU wants to do then more power to them. I'm hoping one of these years franchise mode will be fixed to the point where 30 team isn't necessary for anyone, I doubt anyone really enjoys it.

^ Same as Braves Fan's comment. I used it in MLB 11, & I see the lineups & rotations of every team in front of the face. If I see something wrong, I get the urge to change some things around. But the problem is, once I start changing something, I go on an editing spree & try to make everything legit. So now in MLB 12, I only control my team. I turn off trades because I don't wanna see some crazy ones. I never play a season with trades on anyway. I set up real-life injuries during Spring Training, then turn injuries on. The bad thing about that, I can only injure a CPU player, but not put them on the DL. I injured Brian Wilson & Michael Pineda; They're out for 6 months (missing the entire season) & their respective teams don't put them on the DL. So both their teams use 24 players. Ah well.

The only thing I'm OCD about is the correct jersey numbers, socks, helmets, & positions for most players.

All you need to do is each day look at the days games, sim them all before you play your game and you will get the ticker for all the other games around the league.

Just don't look at the result. I turn my head away fromt he screen as I know what button presses to do without looking.

I only control one team, and chalk the rest of the stuff that happens to "real life".

In real life, teams make absurd trades, in the show, they sometimes make absurd trades.
