Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
Bingo. My team (usually the Phillies)setting is "Custom"; I name the second profile "CPU" and associate the other 29 teams with that file. I'm kind of OCD with the uni numbers, that's my biggest thing with the other 29. That, and to make sure Jeter doesn't hit eighth for NYY.Originally posted by nusie -

You gave me my first like so I have to write something to you. This has most likely been said but you can sim the games and get a realistic ticker, at least for game results. Trading wouldn't really matter since you know every trade thats happening. Maybe a visual thing.
Again thanks for the like. I shall forever worship you
I love the emoticons.

I haven't seen people saying that, I've just seen people say that they just don't care enough for 30 team control.Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
I play it WITH using 30 team control, since I like to have the proper lineups/pitching rotations, etc. Once it's all set up, it's awesome. After it's setup, I play with my team and have very little work to do regarding the other teams. They take care of themselves (for the most part).Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
We all paid our hard dollars and have the right to choose the way we play the game. I control all 30 teams, transactions, for only franchise season etc. I have been doing it for years, it is time-consuming is it OCD? Prob, but I dont see the point of playing the game like Fantasy Baseball. I play Fantasy Baseball for that fix. To each is own and enjoy the game for your personal use.Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
I'm about to pickup The Show 13 and have always enabled 30-Team Control. However, what is this "Contracts to Manual" setting? Is this new for '13 or did I simply miss this setting? Can you elaborate on where this setting is and elaborate on how it works?I use 30 team control and have trades set to instant, so I don't even monitor trades. If I see a completely way off trade-I just trade them back(I have done that only once)
I like 30 team because I can look through the other teams rosters and lineups. I also utilize it to set contracts to manual for the first 3 days of the exclusive period, then switch it back to auto so more free agents hit the open market. I have found this to be the fix for big market teams having too much budget room in future seasons.
I agree with you in that I have always been bothered that big market teams don't fully utilize their financial leverage during the season (even when they are contending) or during the offseason.Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
I for one like 30 team control as I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to being realistic about trades etc, but even though I've followed Knight's instructions on previous versions (don't have 13 yet) the CPU teams (everything set to Auto on the profile I use for them) never initiate trades. Never. I haven't seen a single trade offer made by a CPU-controlled team when I play 30 team control. Not on MLB 11 or MLB 12. They do place players on waivers and other teams pick those players up occasionally, and sign free agents, but never make trades. Any explanations for this just in case it happens again whenever I get the chance to buy 13?Comment

You have to have TRADES set to AUTO for both yours and the CPU profile.I for one like 30 team control as I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to being realistic about trades etc, but even though I've followed Knight's instructions on previous versions (don't have 13 yet) the CPU teams (everything set to Auto on the profile I use for them) never initiate trades. This is why you have to check the PENDING TRANSACTIONS every day as trades will go through if you don't.

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
Okay. Thanks a lot! Still unsure if I'm actually going to buy 13, but even if I don't I'll be playing franchise in 12 so this helps.Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
After reading Knight's breakdown of how to use 30 team control has convinced me to try my franchise using 30 team control this year. Seem pretty straight forward and I also like the fact that I can play with other teams in my franchise when I want a change of pace. Looking forward to giving 30 team control a shot this year.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
With 30 team control, does the cpu still retain the ability to reject your offers? If I am the Mariners the computer isn't going to say yes to a Kyle Seager for Giancarlo trade, will they?Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
OK, Im doing a 30-team control franchise, I previously said I wouldnt but its too easy and Im too nit-picky when the real-life trade deadline comes around... (and if the CPU does their own draft, even better)
Also, QUESTION(s)...
Who prefers instant trades over waiting a few days??? (I usually use instant trades because Im impatient but Im on the fence)
And if you do 30-team control with instant trades on, can you still see pending trades??? or would the trade just go through instantly??? (hence instant trades being on)
Thanks!Comment

Re: Franchise withOUT using 30 team control
They do.
I guess you just need better players!
If you have the CPU teams set to AUTO...yes...they will "think" about trades and make the decisions.
Instant trades will NOT give you the ability to see and reject them....they happen instantly and are accepted as they hit the transaction screen.OK, Im doing a 30-team control franchise, I previously said I wouldnt but its too easy and Im too nit-picky when the real-life trade deadline comes around...
