Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
I ask this every year, but just curious how everybody manages there pitching in Mom?Just press play ball?Actually pick location or style(Pitch aggressive,Pitch around,Pitch to batter)any theories on which way is the most effective? Also great to see Mom get some real love this yearAnd to see the amount of Mom guys seem to increase
Oh an I have the assumption that "Pitch Aggressive" will be more reliable in terms of landing a pitch in the strike zone and I will use it on things like 3-2 counts. But this is only an assumption as it's success/failure appears to be more related on the talent (or lack thereof) of the pitcher on the mound.Comment

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
Do these wrong defensive alignments that take place effect simulation games? Because if it did that would also help explain the inflated offensive stats. More unworthy base runners means pitchers aren't getting outs and in turn tiring faster and allowing more hits and those extra base runners are scoring sometimes when the pitchers should have gotten out of the jamb already.Last edited by Threeebs; 03-22-2013, 04:32 PM.T.K.Comment

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
Love this mode it's so true to life. And I'm addicted to the new dugout cam. Don't forget you can hold L2 down to get a different view when the ball is in play. And you can use the right stick to ' look around ' so you're never just stuck to one view .JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
I usually go with the "play ball" for the first couple of pitches on "non-threat" hitters. If my pitcher falls behind those guys...I go aggressive. If he gets ahead 0-2...I usually go 1 pitch ...pitch around and if he doesn't bite...I use the hot/cold zones and use the pitch zone(high-outside...low-in...etc) for that next pitch.
For the bigger threats...I usually use the hot/cold zones and the pitch zones for the entire at bat unless I'm WAY ahead.
I'm also big on shifting my defense...especially my OF.

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
I gotta admit I might do a franchise with MOM, the one drawback was I really like to pitch but really since I can pick locations and how to pitch it's not a whole lot different plus with me not hitting it will be a whole lot more accurate. The best part is it allows me to really concentrate on the strategy side.Comment

MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
I am new to the Forum but not the Show. I played last year's game and loved it. I am a MOM only and actually I like to play this game as sort of a Strat-o-matic game with great graphics and sounds. In other words, once the season is over, I start with Opening Day using actual lineups and rosters and replay the season. As the season moves on I make all the roster moves, etc. With the new Live feature this year, the lineups will be all pre set but it looks like you can only play the live in exhibition mode, not MOM. Is that correct?
Thanks,

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
You can set your defense for all 9 batters before they game and they'll stick. You don't have to change the defense every AB if you don't want too. I know some like auto defense but I love aligning my defense based on the scouting reports. It's added to the fun factor for me and isn't time consuming at all. Takes about 5 minutes to set it up.Comment

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
When I fast forward the CPU will pull my pitcher if they score against him. If a pitcher gives up a few runs I might pull the pitcher too, but I would like it to be my decision. When the CPU does do it, it will put a cold reliever in even though I have a reliever warm in the bullpen. The CPU has stopped pulling position players as it did in previous years (unless you have a player playing a position that is not listed as a primary or secondary position). As knight and others have mentioned, the defensive positioning is a great idea but definitely needs to be refined. A lot of good stuff went into manager mode this year. I definitely appreciate that. It is interesting how many posts there are about manager mode in this and other forums since, in the past, I always heard that the developers thought no one played it!!!Comment

Re: MLB 13 Manager Only Mode Questions
Love this mode, it's all I play. The bugs are really killing it this year, tho. As for the ai not shifting the defense, I don't shift mine either to make it fair.
One wish I have for future versions of this mode is the addition of one-pitch mode. Every past great baseball sim had this. The Dude abidesComment

I have done this many times. Click on the base runner and select the "Pinch Runner" option.Comment
