Re: MLB 14 Wishlist: Franchise/Season Mode

1 A Depth Chart Management system.

With 2 options for MLB team only, and entire organization.
This way you can scan through your team and the entire league more swiftly and see how teams stack up per position. (The chart that was added in this year is a head start but should be much more useful.)
An improved depth chart screen could be used for most of the current options found in the "Manage Roster, Lineups, and Pitching Rotation" screens.
And a system like this could possibly go hand-in-hand with some type of Player Role system, so that if you have (ex.) a "Superstar" 1B, the CPU won't go out and try to trade for another 1B of equal talent/overall ability.
You could even assign bench roles for the CPU to consider in it's games: Pinch Runner, inf./outf. Defensive Specialist, Clutch Pinch Hitter, etc.

To go along with this system, I'd like to see "Closers" eliminated as a position, and see pitchers divided into 4 categories:
    Left-handed Starters, Right-handed Starters,
    Left-handed Relievers, and Right-handed relievers.
(Closer is a role, not a position!)

    2. Weekly/Monthly Recap media

Can't say I really miss the newspaper, but something is needed to make more of a connect between me and my awareness of what's going on in my 30 team control League.

    Weekly & Monthly recaps of:

*team W/L for the week/month +updated standings per division
*top 20 hitters and pitchers (for Pitchers, WHIP, Quality Starts/Wins, Holds, Saves, K/BB would most likely have to be used)
*All Star voting leaders at each position
*Highlight key injuries, transactions, trades and rumors
    *Preview upcoming series
    *Milestone watch
**and if the technology is there, even show highlights from the week/month

I feel like a lot of this is in the game now but you sort of have to dig for it, and it's a bit tedious. If there was some newspaper, or "The Show Website" or TV show or something that brought a lot of this closer to the surface, it would immerse us much deeper in our Franchises.

MLB 14 Wishlist: Franchise/Season mode if you could have any feature, addition, tweak what would it be? Remember you can only choose two.

      1. Ability to export box scores to the xmb in some kind of text file for usb to pc transfer.

      2. Rain delays/rainouts/doubleheaders

        1. I'd love to be able to see my pitching staff's 2B allowed, 3B allowed and AVG against statistics included in the Player Statistics screen. Basically, the Position Players Statistics screen gives us some pretty relevant stats that the Pitcher's screen does not. Currently, if I want access to these numbers, I have to go into the View Box Score screen for every game and write it down in a notebook.

        2. I'd like to see Spring Training function as a time period for players to reach their overall ratings. It would be very meaningful if we knew that a poor spring would have an impact once the season begins. I feel that in order for something like this to work, almost all players would have to reach 100% of their ability. But seeing a handful of players not get there (through exceptionally poor performance), and others slightly exceed their ratings (through exceptional performance) would make Spring Training more purposeful and strategic.

          1. Option when starting franchise to have the rosters stay the same instead of all of the 40-man roster being moved to MLB status for spring training, thus leading to our carefully set-up rosters being all mixed up when spring training ends.

          2. More options for manual injuries. Right now you can't injure a player for between 70-180 games, and those of us who like to start a season with the real dl and players returning at the proper times need to have injury options for any possible number of games. (A lot of players had offseason surgery that put them coming back within that 70-180 range)

            1. The ability to signed players and coaches during the season (Contract extension). With a full system of offers and counter-offers in contracts and trades, during and off season. Only some players would want to signed again, not all of them...specifically: the level of satisfaction of a player should played out in the decision, age should be a factor, injuries during the last 2-3 years. There should be a separate interface for this purpose.

            2. As a GM, I want a limited contract from 3-8 years with a team. And the possibility to be signed elsewhere depending on my record. You removed that option in 2010 I think...It was a mistake. And it's still a mistake. Most peoples in franchise don't play all the game, we sim most of them (I could be mistaken tho). Typically we can play/sim a lot of seasons in a year, so it adds realism to the GM part.

Re: MLB 14 Wishlist: Franchise/Season Mode

              1. Expanded GM duties. Extensions, more complex contract negotiations, service time clocks, trades involving more than one team, trades involving more than 3 players per team. Money involved in trades. There are many other ways to expand on the GM management side of franchise.

              2. Sliders for simulation, regression, progression, etc during franchise. A few simple sliders and options that adjusted how things are simmed, regression/progression, etc. would do wonders for franchise. Be able to increase the range when players retire due to age, how fast players progress 1= very slowly 10=very fast. Things like this so players can customize these aspects that are often very divisive in terms of how the game handles them.

                1. Skip Spring Training option so when we start our season the rosters, lineups and pitching rotations do not get all messed up!

                2. Would love to see a pre game and post game highlight show. Really although it would be very cool I do not even need to see a person at a desk. Just give us some very sharp looking screen highlighting all the scores,Standings and happenings from around the league with commentary! Maybe you could also have in game previews of upcoming games. Just take a long look at 2KSports NBA2K13 and you will get an idea of what I am talking about.
