1 A Depth Chart Management system.
With 2 options for MLB team only, and entire organization.
This way you can scan through your team and the entire league more swiftly and see how teams stack up per position. (The chart that was added in this year is a head start but should be much more useful.)
An improved depth chart screen could be used for most of the current options found in the "Manage Roster, Lineups, and Pitching Rotation" screens.
And a system like this could possibly go hand-in-hand with some type of Player Role system, so that if you have (ex.) a "Superstar" 1B, the CPU won't go out and try to trade for another 1B of equal talent/overall ability.
You could even assign bench roles for the CPU to consider in it's games: Pinch Runner, inf./outf. Defensive Specialist, Clutch Pinch Hitter, etc.
To go along with this system, I'd like to see "Closers" eliminated as a position, and see pitchers divided into 4 categories:
Left-handed Starters, Right-handed Starters,
Left-handed Relievers, and Right-handed relievers.
(Closer is a role, not a position!)
2. Weekly/Monthly Recap media
Can't say I really miss the newspaper, but something is needed to make more of a connect between me and my awareness of what's going on in my 30 team control League.
Weekly & Monthly recaps of:
*team W/L for the week/month +updated standings per division
*top 20 hitters and pitchers (for Pitchers, WHIP, Quality Starts/Wins, Holds, Saves, K/BB would most likely have to be used)
*All Star voting leaders at each position
*Highlight key injuries, transactions, trades and rumors
*Preview upcoming series
*Milestone watch
**and if the technology is there, even show highlights from the week/month
I feel like a lot of this is in the game now but you sort of have to dig for it, and it's a bit tedious. If there was some newspaper, or "The Show Website" or TV show or something that brought a lot of this closer to the surface, it would immerse us much deeper in our Franchises.
