So I'm not the only one. Thank god. I use auto fielding but I play 2nd base in my RTTS and sometimes ball will come to me and i just need to tap the controller maybe a step or 2 sidewards, instead he runs too far and the ball ends up in the outfield costing me bunches of points
Why are my players running away from the ball??

Re: Why are my players running away from the ball??
Make sure you aren't pressing the analog stick in any direction before OR while the game transitions from "bat view" to "field mode" or whatever you'd call that... wait until after the camera fully turns around and you are assigned a fielder, before touching the stick.
See if it happens then.
Also make sure when you are trying to decelerate, you ease off the stick, and not just let it go, because if it snaps back to the center, the game might read that as a command in the other direction (because it snaps too far).Comment

This happened enough times that I switched to auto fielding. This was an issue last year too.Comment

Re: Why are my players running away from the ball??
I just set fielding and throwing to auto and I love how it looks. Some may want to be involved at every step of the way, but given the clean look you get from those settings, I'm more than happy to do that and avoid racking up the runs and errors that come along with manual or assisted fielding.Comment

I did this as well. Even after I tried the above suggestion of waiting until the camera transition occurred, the animations still weren't as clean and cool as the ones you see when you have auto fielding turned on.

Re: Why are my players running away from the ball??
This happens to me all the time! It is absolutely maddening! A ball will be hit to my fielder and he'll start running towards it, but then will suddenly change direction completely. By the time you try to get him to run back the right way, it's too late and the ball lands fair. This happens WAY too often and it is ruining games for me. It seems that the left joystick is just too sensitive. I've never had this issue in any of the prior MLB The Shows, and I've been playing since 2006. Anyone know if this is on the dev team's radar and if it is something they can patch? Thanks.Comment

Re: Why are my players running away from the ball??
Like Bobhead said make sure you guys arent pressing a certain direction before the camera changes..like I'd be aiming the joy stick down to the right to throw a pitch low and away and without even thinking about it I'd leave the joystick in that position as the pitch crosses the plate and if the ball gets hit I would see my fielder start running down and to the right as the camera changes ..lost me a game before and wanted to smash my controller !Comment
