Hmm, interesting. I also do 30 team control and have no issues with injuries. I started with the injury slider at 7 and actually had to move it down to six because I had so many injuries.
I play with analog throwing and have no issues whatsoever turning double plays, I'm pretty sure the CPU makes more errors there than I do.
As for progression, I thought this year was a big step forward. Past years were too predictable and stagnant. Yes, I think the current system could use some fine-tuning and I hope future versions improve it. Overall, though, I think this year was a big step forward from last year (not that I don't have a laundry list of additions/improvements I'd love to see).
