44-year-old. Was introduced to Strat-O-Matic, but then fell madly in love with Pursue The Pennant and Dynasty League Baseball. Replayed the 1985 Brewers season...yep, they sucked whether it was grass and dirt or on cardboard and dice. ha
I love The Show series and have played it since the '07 game. This game is my favorite, by far.
I used to be a hardcore NCAA FB and Madden player, but those games require too much hand-holding for me and I still end up winning too many BCS Titles and Super Bowls. It was quick to lose interest.
In The Show, I've won the World Series just once. On last year's game. I can't tell you how gratifying it was after playing this series for so long. I hope I can win another one this year.

I would agree that The Show attracts more mature players, as does baseball in general. I'm 46 and grew up enjoying the stats in baseball. We used to play wiffleball and track a bunch of stats. When I got older I used to play Earl Weaver baseball with a buddy of mine. We would load up on soda and chips and play all night.

This is an awesome thread. I will be 32 in October and besides playing with my 19 month old son I play The Show. I also have Tiger Woods 14 but shooting low is just too easy. After I get my son to bed and my wife heads to bed its a couple hours of the show to relax and unwind. It's the only sports game I have ever played where I can't win every game. Also the only baseball game I have ever played where you can get shelled one night and then comeback and throw a 1 hitter in the very next game!

OK, I gotta ask another question here...
Since most of us are "old Guys", do you find yourself deliberately using the Throw Back Uniforms?
And what's your favorite Throw Back Uni?

Yes. I might roll with throwbacks even if were young. Love nostalgia.

              1. Astros rainbow jerseys. One of the announcers in the game refers to them as hideous, or something along those lines. I completely disagree. Their uniqueness makes them appealing.

              2. A's: The green and gold creations from the early 70s.

              3. Pirates, from the Stargell-Parker 1970s era.

              4. Phillies: The robin's egg blue road duds from the Michael Jack Schmidt days of yesteryear.

              5. Indians: The Oscar Gamble/Frank Robinson mid-70s red and white tops.

Many others: White Sox, Brewers, Twins, Rangers, Red Sox, Braves, Padres, etc., etc.

I am upset that they took out Cincy's Big Red Machine unis this year in favor of some older ones.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

I'm a young guy but I use throwback unis quite a bit. My favorites are the Braves ones from the Aaron era and the plain gray Red Sox unis.

I tend to use the throwbacks nearly every game. I too like the Aaron era Braves' unis, but my favorite is the Padres brown and gold from the 70's. I still think of those colors when I think of the Padres, the Padres in my book shouldn't be navy blue and white.

Re: Does The Show Attract more Mature players?

I let the AI randomly pick the uniforms for my games, but I am pleasantly surprised when it picks throwbacks for my featured game. I love the Astros Rainbow, the Braves Hank Aaron HR-record blue-and-whites, the White Sox Southside Hitmen, and one game, it looked like the teams were wearing old Negro League unis. That was real nice!

Throwback unis with classic rosters, no batting gloves, and pine tar. Beautiful!!!

And ... the ability to have old-time players bat without helmets, just their caps. Now that would be cool.

Just be careful how much pine tar you use. i.e.-George Brett

How cool would that cutscene be in the game if you created George Brett and used him in game?!

                              On the conversation at hand...
I'm doing a 1973 World Series right now and when I played vs. Cincy in the NLCS I assigned them the throwbacks for each game and played Cincy's home games in Crosley Field. I'm playing the Met home games in Shea.
(you miss some of the new post season additions....but it's a better fit IMO)
