Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen

Compare the PS3 to other systems
The PS2 has sold double what the original Xbox sold
The PS3 sold the same number of units that the 360 sold.
The biggest complaint by far, of the PS3 at launch, was that it was "too expensive."
Not only that, but the initial sales of the PS3 were not even profitable. One PS3 cost more to make (upwards of $700), than it was being sold for.
units may have been sold at an estimated loss of $306 or $241 [per unit], depending on model...Comment

All I said was I didnt remember that.
It wasnt a comment against yours.
Your links are the reason why I plan to wait on a future model of the PS4 so that I dont get sucked into launch bugs.Last edited by Curahee; 11-07-2013, 12:50 PM.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
IIRC, PS3 sold out instantly at launch, it even mentions it in the Wikipedia article. However, for the next couple of years there was a massive games drought (aka "PS3 has no games"), which coupled with the high price led to terrible sales.
Anyway, on topic - the lack of MP3 playback and DNLA support at launch is Sony's way of pushing their streaming music and video services. I don't know how many of you have seen Sony's latest fiscal reports... They need every last penny.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
Thats true. Because whether or not it was on the PS3 at launch, it ended up on it at some point and for them to remove it or any other feature from the PS4 version is strange.
I get the argument that people want a "gaming" console. Fine. Then only use it for games. But there are other people that want it for more than just games and they want the full available technology and buying an XB1 is so far out of the question that its irrelevant even to suggest it.
There is nothing wrong with catering to the masses especially when they are as vocal about this issue as they are.
If its not in the PS4 launch then I would hope at some point it is added to an update. I know MLBTS is not the only game that allows you to add music to the game.
PS4 is totally different then 3, new OS, architecture, maybe they didn;t have time or want to add this for a crammed launch window and made it all about gaming.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
I think it is both reasons. Need to get Music Unlimited sales, PS+ memberships, etc to drive revenue. Also, Playstations are known to be sold at cost - past PS3 lessons here - and they make their money by licensing. EA pays them a royalty if you will for every copy of Madden sold as an example. Thus, they need to push games to make money.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
I will never pay for a MU subscription, I will never pay for PS+. All that other extra stuff on the XMB that costs money, I will never buy except for MLB.TV.
I rarely buy a game brand new, other than The Show. I usually only rent or buy used.
Sony is literally getting the minimum dollar from me.Comment

More people than Sony would like to admit. I've talked to several of my friends about the PS4 and the MU subscription that is required if you want music on your PS4. They were pretty unanimous in their disinterest in MU. PS+ some are willing to pay for because it pays for itself with all the free games, discounts, and exclusive stuff that they get. If I had the money, I'd probably get PS+ too, because it serves a purpose, unlike MU.
I think ultimately, Sony will realize no one gives a damn about MU, and back off on it and their MP3 policy.-the least famous person you've never heard of.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
Keep in mind that you won't be able to play online without PS+ on the PS4.
Considering all the great games they're throwing in every month with PS+ it's a far better deal than Xbox Live.
But if you don't plan on playing online you can still get all the patches and updates and what not so I think it's a fair deal. if you think about the costs that come with keeping such a service running smoothly Sony couldn't keep it free I'm afraid."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
Ive contemplated PS+ but I don't really play online. The only time I ever play online is MLBTS HRD and I can live without that.
I'm not bashing online or online players, but with a job, 2 kids and cycle training I get very little time for gaming and thats usually spent on The Show trying to finish my Franchise.
Plus, every game I have attempted to play online has lost my interest due to cheaters or immature players and "Ain't nobody got time for that!"Comment
