not everyone is looking for a "true" sim, some are looking for a combination sim, fun game that doesn't eat into their family time. also there are a lot of definitions as to what fun is, so the more options the better, the more people that buy the game will also keep the game around longer for people such as yerself to enjoy!

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
The only thing that somewhat disappoints me is that I was hoping generated counts might make playing as a catcher in RTTS a more palatable option and speed the game up behind the plate.
Other than that though I have to say that I'm very happy with this feature. It's not even one that I knew that I wanted until I started reading about it to be honest. Together with the ability to carry saves over to '15 and beyond, it will definitely help to make my non-Cubs 'pick a team in need of a rebuild and start from scratch' franchise much easier to do without losing interest.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
yea i was hoping they would do the pitch counts similar to the old high heat with 0-0 counts especially the first pitch swingers, the 1-0 and 0-1 counts as well. but still gonna be nice to shorten games without losing al cut scenes and such.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Fyi
Here are all the counts you will see using quick counts Every ball 3 count: 3-0, 3-1, 3-2. Every strike 2 count: 0-2, 1-2, 2-2 (3-2 already counted). Every strike 1 count: 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, (3-1 already counted). 9 counts, out of a possible 12.Comment

For those of you counting (I kill me with puns), that means you won't see 0-0, 1-0, or 2-0.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Thanks for laying this out in detail...MUCH appreciated...
Esp. pleased with the "9 out of 12" aspect...
So, while we're at it:
If the TOTAL number of pitches thrown in an average MLB game is in the 300 range, how many pitches will we see TOTAL with this option enabled?

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
*Grabs calculator*
9 counts, divided by a total of 12, divided by 20-30 minute games, times...
Screw it! I like these numbers! I'm very happy to see so many counts here! Especially 0-1! Thanks Ramone.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
In regular game, will we better be able to differentiate a fresh starter from a fatigued starter. Fatigued starters typically lose location as game goes on as do they lose velocity. I do not believe both have been true in years past.It most defiantly will that's why it's a game mode and not so much a game option that's tweak-able on the fly. Because pitchers operate under a different energy depletion algorithm in quick counts than they do in a regular game. Along with the different logic for how CPU batter and pitchers approach at bats.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Poor Joe Mauer, he is going to SUCK in MLB 14!
Career splits by those counts...
0-0 count: .429 avg
1-0 count: .379 avg
2-0 count: .379 avg

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I would guess (based on what we know) that the game time is cut in half, but I'd believe the the pitch count could be under half (125) / half (150) / over half (175) in that process, so I'm hoping we get some confirmation on that from Russell...
That's the only true barometer of how long it would take me to play a game (since my played game times are about 2.5 times above "standard" already)...

It also would provide a insight into what percentage of total pitches would be generated as opposed to "played", which would give us a "feel" for what the game will play like...
We shall (possibly) see!Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Just because your game time is being cut does not mean your pitch count is going to be less. You have to remember you are going to see more mid to late counts which will elevate the total pitches thrown you just will not be experiencing them. Plus this system is bound to generate more walks which will keep pitch counts higher then normal.I would guess (based on what we know) that the game time is cut in half, but I'd believe the the pitch count could be under half (125) / half (150) / over half (175) in that process, so I'm hoping we get some confirmation on that from Russell...

We are going to see higher pitch counts not lower.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment
