And to think... this ballpark actually has a designed obstacle course for a fan to be able to escape from guards on the field.

That park is so ugly, but damn it makes me want baseball season to come again that much more quickly!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/h0odhB4ZyKc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>. He has to be the first guy to run on the field and successfully escape. That is, if he did in fact not get found. Anyone know what is behind that part of the big wall when he disappeared from view?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Features Online Franchise - New Screenshots and Videos From Taiwa
Sony already said they are looking at adding MP3 support, but even then I was obviously talking about future features. They can't go back and change what they've already done.
Sure extra features provided by the PS4, touchpad, light bar, camera, streaming, etc would benefit only the PS4 version. But I think the discussion wasn't really about the features on the periphery of the game, but more like gameplay changes, online franchise etc.
I just don't feel they will gimp the PS3 version feature wise (by locking something up as PS4 only) when the install base of the PS4 is so small. The PS3 is much closer to the PS4 that it was to the PS2. If they do start diving in to the PS4 quicker than they did the PS3 I'd be very happy, but I'll stay realistic and assume the PS4 version will be very similar to the PS3 version for a few years.Comment

Behind that wall is a small walkway/concourse and then an exit through the north (I believe) side of the ballpark. He was no more than 20 feet from the outside when he jumped that wall.Comment

Similar in their major features and modes. Sure the PS4 will have plenty of new smaller features and look better, but I don't see them excluding the PS3 from major updates yet.
An example. Say the devs decide they want to add a new mode, MLB RTTS where you take on the role of an MLB player's career, I can't see them deciding to design and create a major feature like that and exclude the PS3. At least not yet. The PS3 version will likely sell fairly well, perhaps more than the PS4 this year due to its much larger install base. So why put extra resources on something when it will only benefit one platform. If the PS3 version can't do MLB RTTS (it probably could, but its just an example), then I don't think they'd pursue that until the PS3 was mostly out of the picture.
I can see them having small upgrades in the PS4 version though, deeper stat tracking, alternate ball and player physics, maybe a more robust/stable online offering. Things like that. But they have a lot of fans that will be on PS3 for a while, I don't see them, or want them, to start excluding them this early on from major features or modes.Last edited by MrOldboy; 01-28-2014, 04:42 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Features Online Franchise - New Screenshots and Videos From Taiwa
Man, the hyperbole is starting to get a little thick from both sides... Its getting harder to play devil's advocate around here
Seriously though, I think Gran Turismo 6 is a good barometer of what to expect from future PS3 game sales. Courtesy of NeoGaf and its NPD insiders:
Gran Turismo 5:
November 2010 (launch): 400K
December 2010: 560.5K
Gran Turismo 6:
December 2013 (launch): <180K
So what can we expect from the PS3 version of MLB 14? Is it reasonable to expect 70% less sales from '13? If sales are sub 100K for March will that be enough to put the bulk of resources into next-gen?
I feel like install base has been largely irrelevant so far, see GT 6, see COD Ghosts, see NFS R, etc. We just had the longest generation in the history and people are thirsty for new tech. "Analysts" looked at recent sales and the failure of the Wii U and thought gaming was on a serious decline, but it turned out we were just sick of our weak *** 8 year old consoles
Anyway, in relation to the actual topic, game looks good so far.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Features Online Franchise - New Screenshots and Videos From Taiwa
I get what you're saying, but Knight and a few other CD guys have already said the PS3 version wont get excluded like some people think it will (not you specifically just in general) That's never been SCEA's style and the PS3 version will continue to progress as far as they can take it. As for the PS4 version I am sure there are things they can add that wouldn't be in a PS3 version, but they usually keep features the same across the board an all platforms I don't see that changing anytime soon, but who knows with the power of the PS4 anything is possible. Obviously the biggest thing right now is graphically we know where the two stand and CD guys have said they expect the PS4 version to play differently (in a good way) but that's all we know right now.
But I do believe it will get excluded eventually once sales determine that it is viable to focus development on the PS4 and to add features that are only possible on PS4. Not excluded entirely, but it will probably become a more static product features/mode wise. That is if there is something that can only be done on PS4 that isn't just a visual upgrade.
But you are probably right in the end since there are likely very few major things the development team can ad that wouldn't be possible on PS3 since they are not that far apart power wise. I guess I just want to be optomistic that they will come up with something more advanced that was facilitated by better hardware, other than the graphics engine.Last edited by MrOldboy; 01-28-2014, 04:52 PM.Comment

I think maybe you misunderstood what I was saying. I am agreeing with them that the PS3 won't be left out. I'm just trying to justify that reasoning since I'm sure some people want them to go all in on PS4 right now and do things only possible due to the new hardware (CPU,GPU, DDR5, etc).

So there's no final CD visit this year where we can request/inquire about any last minute changes??
Is this because of the extensive PS4 development cycle?Comment

That is most likely the reason.Comment
