Re: MLB 14 The Show Fact Sheet (PS Vita, PS3, PS4)

I'll be disappointed if closed-roof versions of the stadiums with retractable roofs are missing from the game once again. As a Blue Jays fan, it takes away a lot of the realism when the roof at Rogers Centre is always open, particularly in April. For a game that tries to be realistic, it's bizarre that 20% of major league ballparks are not accurately depicted.

Excited about Everything we are seeing on the fact sheet. One thing I was hoping to see was something about more uniform slots being added. This way if teams have more than one alt jersey, both jerseys could be in the game.

Additionally, the training system, logic, screens and modes have all been revamped to provide users with a more engaging experience.
• Year-to-Year Saves (All platforms) - For the first time in franchise history, saves can be carried over from MLB 14 to future releases of The Show, meaning that gamers won't have to worry about starting their Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over in years to come.
• True Broadcast Presentations (PS3 & PS4 Only) - The Show’s presentation crew has taken on a tall task for MLB 14: streamlining the game while enhancing the reality and increasing the variety of the experience. Pace of play is a focal point for the team as we strive to immerse the user in an even more engaging simulation. Heavy emphasis has also been placed on the stadium environment to feature the upgraded crowd actors, jumbotrons, LED boards, dugouts, specific stadium audio and a more engaged, responsive and unique crowd.

-On the commentary side, the three-man booth of Matt Vasgersian, Eric Karros and Steve Lyons return for their second season together. This year's title will emphasize the three announcers in a more interactive, conversational style, yet will also continue to mine the world of baseball to find intelligent, timely and compelling commentary concerning today's teams and players. The overall goal is for the game to get deeper, and for the announcers to better adapt to changing game conditions -- including rising the enthusiasm level when the situation dictates.

• Completely re-worked Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI)
These four things are freaking awesome.

Come on seriously? They just put out an excellent list of new and exciting things that the show will have and the one thing you have to complain about is stadiums not having retractable roofs? Seriously? ..the fact that it was mentioned it will be in the game next year. Wow, talk about nitpicking. What am I saying? This is the norm. My bad.
Somehow I highly doubt that left handed infielders will be randomly placed on the roster.

I think this is meant more for CAPs or other left handers that are specifically and purposefully placed at 2B-3B
Although I respect your opinion on the matter, I highly doubt you're correct. I've never seen an option disabled for SCEA creations (except real life players of course) that was available for CAP's.

I may be wrong myself and SCEA did think of this and disabled it but it's very likely something that will occur in SCEA generics.
T.K.

GREAT list, but a few things that I didn't see or I may have missed.
1. Any mention of dedicated, or improved, servers on PS4?
2. Contract extensions mid-season in Franchise mode?

• - Other changes include a new player-creation process, the reintroduction of the “broadcast” presentation perspective as an option, and a re-envisioned Catcher Mode, to name a few (PS3 & PS4 Only).
YES! I've always wanted to make a catcher ever since it was first introduced in RTTS. It seems like a very interesting position to try to take over but it was just way too much of a time-eater in the past. I can't wait to get new details on this.

The rest of the list looks amazing, but everyone has pretty much already called out and drawn attention to my favorites on the list. The Road to the Show portion may help to make it my most played mode once again after franchise finally took most of my time the last year and a half or so.

That said, being able to hire and fire coaches during the season is an excellent addition that I can't wait to use. I hate having to wait a full season to get the kind of guys I want into my coaching roles so this will be great for me.

It was already revealed through PSNation's podcast that this would not be in this year. He did say that it was being looked at for next year though...to which Ramone was quick to caution that it was on the list but was not at the top of the list and was not guaranteed to be in '15. They are looking at it though.

Really to expect it their first year on a new console with all the work that had to be done just to get it up and running this year is asking a little much. I'm sure it'll be in eventually. They know that it's something people want and they seem to always be very good about giving us what we want (within reason) as soon as they can. This list looks amazing and clearly a lot of hard work went into all of these items...it's not like they left it out out of laziness.

Well prepare yourself for the disappointment. Might as well get it out of the way now.

Any word on improvements to gameplay such as ball-off-the-bat physics for all platforms? Any upgrades for PS3 in this area?

Pretty nice list of improvements for a year when sony had to work on a 3-headed monster.

As a presentation/franchise guy i am excited for the changes there.

- Sounds like commentary took a much needed upswing.
- hire/fire managers is absolutely nice.
- cant wait to see pics of the new UI
- the assistant gm notification system. this could be helpful in seeing whats going on around the league. last years ticker was a good idea, but not much info was there, plus it took forever to cycle through scores. hopefully the notifier is what i think it is.

this is the one i am curious about the most

• New pitcher/batter breakdown pop-up graphics

wonder if thats concerning the in game stat OSD'S?

all in all, nice work
from SCEA. cant ask for much more in a 10 month cycle.the wish list just got smaller.
