Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread

Any chance they added the "1 for 2" "2 for 2" "0 for 2" type stats under the batters names on the in between inning batter due up overlay?

Last time MLB The Show had this was in 09 but it was removed in 10 and has not come back since.Attached FilesLast edited by tnixen; 03-26-2014, 11:11 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread

I was getting better counts with Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, and Nathan than with the rest of the pitchers on the tigers. I think the algorithm is tied to the quality of the pitcher. At first, it felt like the pitch counts ended up getting too high too soon, but it might have just be a statistical aberration as the next few games my starters got into the 7th and 8th. The only thing I noticed one has to look out for is the bullpen substitutions. You need to use the "schedule to pitch" option if you want to start an inning with a reliever. Otherwise the quick count gets attributed to the previous pitcher and he's got another batter faced running down his stamina and impacting recovery time.Hi NYYanks26 and Lessthanpi I read you impressions in the other thread so thanks but can you mention a bit more in depth how it feels when your pitching in quick counts mode does it seem responsive like you have control and input or just a random roll of the dice at times ? thanks thanksComment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread

Wong was 68 with B potential
Watcha was 84 with B potential

Not sure on Martinez, he's default in the minors so 60's?

There's a lot less "grade inflation" this year. Some really solid players are only in the 80's. I think the individual ratings for attributes are going to be more important than overall.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread

Definitely feels like this is how things work. I never have any problems with RF flies to Torii Hunter, Jackson is a little worse in center, and Dirks in LF is a challenge to field with. I put Miggy in CF just to test the theory and it was nearly impossible to make a play.

Its a lot more fun overall. I love the defense this year.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread

13 did have rivalry mode I hope it wasn't removed I actually put it to use my best friend and I have had s longstanding Yankees v Marlins battle for years. It would suck to see it go. It was almost a glorified exhibition mode but it had enough to be worth playing because it tracked stats and kept track of energy , injuries, and so on.

If I did an exhibition series with my friend this year every game would be Sabathia vs Fernandez while the rivalry mode would force us to cycle through our entire rotation. Bench players became important as the series went on and starters had injuries and just needed the occasional off days.

I'd hate to see this mode go.

Exactly, I have really enjoyed this mode playing with my brother. I really hope it is still in the game and hope that someone would be able to confirm that.13 did have rivalry mode I hope it wasn't removed I actually put it to use my best friend and I have had s longstanding Yankees v Marlins battle for years. Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread

Because catcher is not just like the other positions? Why is does it seem so hard for them to make Catcher just like the other positions? Yes, make them field the bunts and popups, and pickoff/stolen base attempts. Why add the difficulty of blocking pitches in the dirt? That would be akin to any other infielder having to account for bad hops while fielding (which they don't have to do).

That's like saying "why can't they make pitching just like the other positions? Yes, make them field the bunts and popups and comebackers, why add the difficulty of throwing pitches?"

The Pitcher and the Catcher can't be compared to any other position on the diamond. They have unique responsibilities that are nothing like that of any other fielder.

Also, infielders do have to account for hops when fielding.Comment
