It's only the middle of May, but the Braves organization decided it was time. Rory McMahon is on the move...

Not sure if you guys were aware of this, but we can now do Batting/Baserunning practice on any day of the schedule! You don't get training points unless it gives you the prompt for a specific practice like it's always been, but it is an opportunity to practice the mini-games with your player.

The option is kind of hidden away, it's on the schedule screen when you pick a day's game on the schedule. You'll see a batting practice option right after sim season, and that takes you right into it.

Sorry if this was in the game last year, but I just noticed it last night. And I think it'll be really helpful with the settings I'm playing on! I'm guessing you can do pitching practice in the same way, but I haven't created a pitcher yet.

I did notice that as well. It's a nice feature to use when you're struggling and need to work on some things.

I wish they would give us fielding practise. My CF needs the extra work badly.

3B Michael Herzberg New Britain Rock Cat's (Twins AA affiliate)

            First Month Update.

            .358 AVG 16 HR 35 RBI

Herzberg has ben on a tear from the word go. Playing for the Rock Cats and fast becoming a star AA prospect in the Twins system, Herzberg is making it hard to keep him out of lineup at anytime. He is currently ranked first in HR's and RBI's in the eastern AA league and is wowing fans in batting practice.

The Twins can certainly use a shot in the arm at 3B up in the bigs. If Herzberg can keep up this pace….a September call up will certainly be in the cards for the 21 year old future stud.

Click and hold down R3 as your pitcher winds up and through the play. This will give you a wider view of the play, and help tremendously with fielding.

Does anyone know if you make a SP can you get called up and stuck in the pen for a while? Or have the team move you around if you are a fringe starter? I'm thinking like Ryan Dempster starting for a while, then going to closer, then going back to starter.

Or is it if you are a starter that is all you will ever be?

So I started with the Tigers and was in the AAA system for all of year one. I get a contract offer for 100k to be a AAA starter... I accept (Because why not) and they stuck me on the MLB bench and I played like 10 games all year. All my stats regressed until I was forced to request a trade and played like 2 weeks of ball with the Red Sox. This sucks because I am now just a below avg guy instead of the guy who's power went up a crapton in AAA and now looks worse in the MLB.

Unless you request the position change under Interactions, you'll always be regarded as a SP.

It was possible in past years (not sure if it is this year) that when you got promoted you wouldn't be in the rotation but rather a RP till someone got injured or you past advancement goals.

I'm wondering, did you request more playing time? Because doing this probably would have nabbed you a starting a role for a bit, if not the rest of the season.

Lol man you don't even know how many times I did that. I did it once a week (every time it was there)

It kept saying that Alex Rios (81 ovr) was "tearing it up".... he was hitting .220 with 5 HRs by 3/4ths done with the season and was never over .250. I requested a new position (LF) Andy Dirks was doing even worse (.190 with like 10 HRs) and they said when he cooled off they would start me.

Off the bench I hit .320 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs.

Sorry but is just too funny, but also very unfortunate. :P

The AI really derped on you that's for sure, hopefully you'll be getting more starts soon.

Add one more. But as a C i doubt you will get a fielding \ throwing out baserunners practice. It's tough to handle Button Accuracy throwing if you throw 2-3 times a game!

I have finished the 2014 season with my left fielder for the Rays. After spending the first half of the season in AA and AAA, I was called up to the Rays right before the trade deadline in July. Didn't get off to a hot start with the big club, but managed to hit .244 in 193 AB with 47 hits, 21 runs scored, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 9 home runs, 28 RBI, 8 stolen bases, 14 walks, 35 strikeouts, .440 SLG%, .295 OBP, .735 OPS. The Rays missed the playoffs by one game in the Wild Card standings.

Signed a one year deal with the Rays at the end of the season and after a decent Spring Training am now 4 games into the 2015 season. Through the first 4 games I am hitting .231 in 13 AB with 3 hits, 5 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run, 5 RBI, 5 walks, 2 strikeouts, .538 SLG%, .444 OBP, .983 OPS.

I am stressing plate discipline with my player in MLB 14. I really want to walk more. 5 walks in 4 games is a good start to me.

Great updates from everyone so far. It's fun to see how everyone else's journey is going...

Well the honeymoon period is over and Rory McMahon is starting to struggle the Triple-A G-Braves. He's still stuck in the bottom half of the lineup so the RBI and plate appearances aren't coming -- unfortunately this is leading to impatience at the plate.
