Getting mad. Got drafted by LA, did well in the minors. Uribe retires at the end of the season so I got called up for 2015. Won ROY, had another decent season in 2016. I got hurt in the first week of 2017 and put on DL for 15 days. When I come back they send me to AAA. Understandable. The problem is, we're in June now, I'm mashing and the guy starting for LA is 69 overall while I'm 78. Starting to get annoyed.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Just started the second season of my third baseman's career. Im currently 10 games into season 2 batting .278 with 2 Hrs..3 RBI..and 2SB. We swept A's to start the season and lost 5 straight after.
One note, what is up with season 2 ?? Basically monday became Friday and we are off every other friday?
Speaking of RttS, my feelings towards this mode are changing. I know there were several improvements and such, and also I'm happy to see advancement goals gone, but for some reason I'm feeling disappointed with this mode. It's impossible to improve your attributes because even if you have a career day, you don't get enough training points. I literally wasted 2 years of my career and I couldn't level up a stat more than 5 points. I like how the COST for the attributes gets higher every level (which is understandable) but I cant seem to get training points. When you go to the training mode, what's the point in scoring 2500+ pts on, lets say, bat control training if you only will get 300 pts? That's pretty dumb if you ask me.
Just had a 3 HR, 7 RBI game and only got 125 points... I'm an A potential player, 88 OVR (Second best OF behind Bryce Harper's 92), I'm coming from my first full year in the bigs as starter, .320 average, 188 H, 45 2B, 12 3B, 27 HR and 91 RBI.. and I got benched in ST by a guy with 77 OVR. That's it. Asked for playing time or trade and nothing. And because I have little playing time, I'm lucky If I get more than 70 points in a game. That's causing me to spent the whole year JUST trying to maintain my stats, instead of increasing them.
But oh well.. Thankfully, OSFM rosters are just around the corner and I'll switch to franchise. Sucks, but I think im gonna call it a career in RttS for this year.New York Yankees

Well I was correct in deciding the quickest way to the Majors for my Pirates Catcher would be to make the switch to 1st, as I just received my Major League call-up after just 24 AA and 28 AAA games and only 10 games after switching from Catcher to 1st base.
The lineup card for my first big league game has me in the 5th spot behind McCutchen (leading MVP voting) and Alvarez (first in HR's)..Bring on the RBI's!

Ahhh. I'm so glad I'm not the only one experiencing that lol. Yes, it happens to me too. My team (Nationals) have experienced sundays or fridays off, series beginning on a saturday and that weird stuff.. It doesnt bother me, but it's weird.

First full year and A 88...I mean how much faster you want it? Wouldn't be much fun if you can become a 99 in a couple years, Imo anyway. Enjoy the ride there. Guess everybody's different. I'm a C 94 in my fourth year. Which is ok, but I certainly wouldn't want it any faster myself.

I think the progression is quite balanced. I am an average player I think and that reflects in the speed of my development. I did have a really stellar second half to my second season and my guy made notable strides in that time.
also, I noticed that you get double points in the playoffs (at least at MLB level). That's a nice touch. It means that if you dominate in the postseason then you can make big leaps forward. I think that is true of the way players ore often perceived in reality.
I think that overall RTTS has been really well put together. I spent two years in the minors, I wouldn't ave objected to a third. But I think my level matched where I was just about right.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I totally agree. I feel like the amount of guys who are rated 90+ so early in their career undermines any sense of achievement in becoming a star. It shouldn't be easy to become a great player. I am just at the end of my third season and my guy is 84 overall. I think that's about right. I would have nothing to aim for if I were in the 90's already.

Agree with everyone on this issue. Im in my second year and at 81 overall. Im not trying to juice it and hit 65hrs a year. Im trying to be realistic as I will learn with the game. To each there own but 91 overall after 1 year is crazy to meatleast..Its not DelawareComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
The Gwinnett Braves are ready for a showdown with the Indianapolis Indians in the first round of the Triple-A playoffs. Led by their slugging first-baseman, Rory McMahon, the G-Braves hope they can power their way to the IL Championship series despite some curious lineup changes that leave McMahon frustrated.

Did either of you get your starting positions back? If so, how long did it take?
If I am going to put in a lot of time only to have something like this happen, I think I’d be better off neglecting this mode entirely for franchise.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Finally got my copy Monday. I created several players to get a feel for each position and learned this: you can edit an existing player in the roster and get a new RTTS player almost to your liking without buying points. After tweaking a catcher and using him as a template I had a 59 ovr catcher out of the box after only raising his durability as much as I could. He was about 40 in contact and power with low fielding and high arm ratings - which is what I made the other guy.
I also learned you have a max amount of attributes, so that is why I tweaked players. I took Bartolo Colon and tweaked him until I had a pitcher with an almost 50 in H/9, BB/9 and k/9, but I sacrificed HR/9 and stamina and clutch. I wanted to start out with a decent fastball and control, with a RFB, SLD and 12-6 in my reportroire, so I edited Bartolo that way.
I was also able to make a powerful 1B, 50+ contact and 90 spd 2B, and a SS and 3B with decent bats and great arms (SS had 90 spd). I am going to create a player from scratch and put him on a MLB roster and use him as a template to see what happens. It is a lot of fun playing with a guy who can actually hit or run wothout resorting to buying points.
My 1st game with my Lefty SP (Astros, 2nd round) I went 6, striking out 11 or 12 and threw 120 pitches. Didn't get the win as the other pitcher got shut my team out over 8 as well and we lost in 10.
The 1B I made was 4 for 4 his first game with a HR and 2 2b's.
My catcher is on his 2nd prospect game. He went 1 for three with an RBI single.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Ok, you can't use the template of a player that has no MLB time, hence the created player won't work. However I tweaked two players and got the following results.
Ramiro Pena
60 con R/L
99 Vis
90 spd
99 dur
99 steal
EVERYTHING ELSE was 0
I got this:
I tweaked Evan Gattis - I can't remember how. I think 75 con R/L and max power, arm abilities and 50 blocking and I got:
I'm gonna go make a guy all zero tp see what happens.
As to my guy having 11 steal rating. I believe that is 111. Remember how the devs game certain guys (Billy Hamilton for example) ratings that show 99 but in the game code was reflected as more than that? I think that is what happened with my 2B. I'm gonna go test it out and hope the game doesn't crash, lol.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
What difficulty does everyone use for hitting on rtts? I've been using DD for countless exibition games, test season and franchise games. I worked up to Veteran hittin the back down to Rookie +. On RTTS I moved up to Allstar in no time. I love DD but think its a bad idea for rtts when I wanna eventually play a real franchise.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Rory McMahon helped the G-Braves advance to the International League Championship series but the #McMahonSlam was absent all series as lineup changes frustrated the slugging Irishman. Watch Gwinnett push past Charlotte and take on Tacoma for the National Championship thanks in large part to the return of Grand Slam McMahon.

Rory McMahon dominated the Minor Leagues in 2014 but the Braves organization has decided to resign him to Double-A contract. Unsure of his future, McMahon is contemplating his relationship and commitment to Atlanta. Knowing that Freddie Freeman owns the 1B spot, should Rory ask for a trade? Or should McMahon develop his defensive skills and look to break through for the Braves elsewhere in the field?

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I enjoy playing this mode, especially since it should port over for future games. It has always been difficult for me to get into because I just do not have enough time to devote to building a career in RTTS.
The only thing that I am finding frustrating is the amount of plays that I have to play in the outfield that have 0 possibility for points. Too many plays involving infield pop ups and/or no doubt HR's. It just seems like a waste of time. I know that you can select to only play some fielding opportunities, but instead of just putting you out for plays you can make, it seems to only out you out there for the junk plays.Comment
