Second year overall, first at the Major League level.
Year 1: 18 yrs old -- two months at AA, remainder of 2014 season at AAA
Year 2 (current year): 19 yrs old -- started year in Majors as bench player. Promoted to starter in 2nd half after a trade of Chris Johnson.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
A tip for the RTTS pitchers who don't want a 90 mph changeup - add a forkball later on. Same movement as a CCH, but speed doesn't change as your heater does. I add it later on so I don't start off with it so close in mph to my slider. My righty has a 98mph RFB, 90 mph slider, 78 mph 12-6, 82 mph forkball and a 97mph cutter. I strike out as many guys with the FRK as I do the heater.Comment

The 2015 NL East champion Atlanta Braves have added Matt Wieters and Carlos Quentin for the 2016 season. Could this mean more hittable pitches and more #McMahonSlam action for Rory McMahon?

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Has anyone else found the AI seemingly impossible to overcome? I've made it to MLB in my second season with a 78 rating, but my BABIP is .249 through 300 at bats. I can count on two of these three things happening almost every game: GIDP, Robbed on a ball that's absolutely scorched, tapper in front of the plate on a contact swing with 2 strikes. I don't want to mess with the sliders, but it's getting really old. Thoughts or ideas anyone?Comment

And, regardless of that answer, my suggestion would be to drop a difficulty level - seriously. Unless you're playing dynamic difficulty, when you move up to MLB you're playing at one level higher than the selected one (it's an internal change). You can counter that by dropping the level you CAN select by one.
Unless you were really tearing up AAA (which was playing at the level you had selected), the jump in pitcher quality from AAA to MLB should provide enough of a challenge without the difficulty level going up too. I think the devs wanted to make MLB callups a wake up call by doing this, but it's just too extreme a jump IMO.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I'm only playing on Veteran, so that's why I mentioned sliders. The jump from AAA seemed extreme in the beginning, but I've gotten used to it. I usually have 3-4 "Good" ABs per game and breeze through the training, so I'm racking up the points...but the hits just don't fall in.Comment

The jump from Vet to All-Star is a big step up, but very rewarding once you can start working long at-bats and getting the pitcher in trouble, forcing him to throw more hittable pitches.Comment

Or is AAA the "default". So right now, I'm effectively on All-Star, in AAA, I'll be on HoF, and MLB level I'll be on Legendary?
Not to mention the engine probably plays differently as well. I will keep "RTTS sliders" along with my RTTS profile, and considering breaking the sliders into "RTTS Hitting" and "RTTS Pitching", depending on if I'm a hitter or pitcher in that save."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I have two RTTS (one as a second baseman, one as a pitcher). In my second baseman RTTS, I'm in the majors, in my second year. However, I'm 23, since I opted for college after the initial Showcase or whatever it's called. In my pitching RTTS, I'm 6 or 7 starts into my minor league career, making a handful at AA and then being called up to AAA.(18 years old. I signed with the Angles after the first draft).
I'm playing a lot more of my second base RTTS, lately, and here are my numbers.
I play for the Toronto Blue Jays.
I got called up to the majors in mid-August of my first year, and played in 33 games.
I batted .328 with 11 HR and 32 RBI.
We won the division (the team was well ahead of everyone else when I was called up). However, we were swept in the first round by the Angels, and I batted like .180 in the series. It was brutal.
That then carried over to the following Spring Training, where I batted .230, and so far through 3 games of my second season (still in the majors), I'm batting .200.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but the southwest minor league stadium is hell. The batter's eye is nonexistent, making it impossible to see the ball come out of the pitcher's hand.Too Old To Game Club
