Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

In my Third season with Jays. As mentioned I really work alot of counts. I usually sit and take the first pitch automatically. Im one week away from All star game and im hitting .257 with 13 Hrs and 68 rbi. Im 4th in league in RBI because Adam Jones has like 78 coming to the break. I have been at a season low .240 in the beginning of the season and a hi of .310 in May.

We are 6 back in the division and 2 out in wild card
    atleast..Its not Delaware

Congrats on Rookie of the Year, what potential is Rory rated again?

** Okay I saw he was rated an A, so it is good to know your potential rating can jump up.

He came in as a first-round pick so he may have been an "A" from the start but I'd have to go back and watch the first few episodes to even remind myself lol

Get ready for a four-homerun episode as Rory McMahon terrorizes NL East foes New York and Philadelphia before busting out the #McMahonSlam on Milwaukee.

My 1B RTTS player is still stuck in AA (he's in the Indians organization) even though he's destroying pitching there (he's likely to hit .400 with lots of power and a good amount of triples this year after batting .360 in his rookie year with similar production).

Not even a promotion to AAA. Not sure why not, but he's got the hitting ratings for it (70/75 vs RHP, 63/63 vs LHP, he's a switch hitter).

Oh well, at least he's giving the fans of AA ball a real show. Recently had a 10 RBI game. Maybe he's still not convinced the front office yet.

Meanwhile, my RTTS SP is already at the majors with the Marlins in his rookie year . Talk about getting fast-tracked. Not even sure he's ready for the bigs yet. He's a knuckleballer (with a palmball and 2-seam) so maybe that's part of it?

Yeah in my first year as a 3rd baseman I was up hitting just .310! I think I would be demanding a trade soon

Finished my first season as a SP for the White Sox... my last start of the season i got a no hitter against the royals... almost had a perfect game but got squeezed in the strike zone for a walk... was PISSED.

then we missed the playoffs which was expected, simmed through the playoffs to see the Dodgers beat the Angels for the World Series which would be interesting to see.

scrolled through the retiring players and saw Bryce Harper retired do to injury (after year one) would absolutely suck if that happened in dynasty mode as the nationals lol

now just signed 4 year 7 mill deal with the white sox... hopefully things workout this year

Eventful middle of the season for 1B Hiroyuki Nomo.

Gets called straight from AA to the Majors.

Starts out batting .389 with 2 HR with the big club. Then...his first slump perhaps of his career. Dropped all the way down to .278 with some power, but definitely scuffling overall.

Ended up getting traded in early June for a couple relievers and a 1B to the Marlins.

First game as a Marlin is a 1-for-4 forgettable day.

Second game? Hit for the cycle with 4 RBI and a 4-for-6 day against the Jays in interleague action. He needed the triple to complete the cycle in what would be his final at-bat and he got one into the alley and made it into third.

Average is climbing back towards .300 and his slugging pct. is over .600.

With only 6 games left in the 2015 season and the cubs with a 72-84 record and well out of the playoffs 2nd Baseman Jerry Finger cant wait for the 2016 season he told Chicago Tribune after the game.

" I felt like this was supposed to be my year to finally bring this team to the promise land, we were number 1 in the division before I went out with that broken hand and its sucks that wasn't here to help my team, 60 days is too long to be away from the game."

He was referring to back in May when he broke his hand stealing 2nd Base for the second time in a game against the Cardinals. Before his injury the Cubs looked like they were poised to win the division but after he left things came back down to reality. I don't know if at the time if u would have asked around the clubhouse who was the Cubs best player many would of said Finger's name but now there is no doubt who the man is in this ballpark.

Over his first 2 season none of which were full seasons in the MLB Finger's career stats are 510abs 156H 19HRs 64RBIs and a .306AVG not to mention around 40SBs

                            in 84games this season he has 308AB 14HR 40RBI .302AVG .494SLG% .322OBP 9BB 46SO 33SB

Despite playing less than 150 games he leads the team in Stolen Bases, is Tied for 2rd in Homeruns

The Sky is the limit for this 23yr old kid and former 4th round pick. He has become not only the best player on the Cubs but one of the best players in the MLB if next year he can avoid injury I expect BIG things from him and this team. I truly believe that he is capable of taking this team to the playoffs given a full season to play. 2016 will be a great year for the Cubs.

Curious to know if other people do this.

once the offseason comes around I save the game right before it starts in a separate file.
I thin proceed to simulate the off-season multiple times around 10-15 times just to see the different options or moves the Cubs may or may not make to make the team better. These are the 2 best improvements I came upon aka the 2 best alternate realities for the 2016 Cubs.

In both realities we added CP Jake Barrett age 24 A potential 68ovr in rule 5 draft. CP Matt Stites age 25 B potential 69ovr which would make them both our highest overall rated CP in the organization.

                              Alternate Reality #1

So one time I simulate the cubs improved greatly at right field by adding Kyle Jensen age 27with C potential. 76ovr with power in the 70's he would immediately become our starting RF, but I like Jorge Soler a lot but would rather have the better player so this is good. We also added depth at 1B with M.P. Cokinos age 26 C potential and 84 Power Left he becomes another nice power hitter on the bench. That's the only major moves we made to effect the team in the Majors. but it would be nice to have 2 extra hitters and a legit RF

                              Alternate Reality #2

I usually negotiate my 1yr deals to try and get the most possible but during this simulation I decided to take their first offer for $590,000 for 1 year. I simulate the off season and proceed to the the spring training and go take a look at the roster and to my surprise the Cubs have somehow signed Freaking SP Jordan Zimmermann age 29 89ovr B potential. I am so freaking excited right now like man this is amazing to have a legit STAR SP on our team I cant wait to start this season easy to understand ima go with this version of the 2016 CUBS. lol idk how we got him but thank God we did.
                              our SP rotation will be
                              J.Zimmermann 89ovr
                              T.Wood 84ovr
J.Samardzija 79ovr. idk how the Knight and the OFSM guys have him so severely underated he started off as a 82 with B potential but dropped down to C potential once he turned 30 for some reason but watever
                              E.Jackson 77ovr
J.Arrieta/T.Lyons 76ovr both are rated 76 but Arrieta has B potential but is 1 year older so idk who would be the 5th starter I think Lyons he is there in training camp pitching rotations.

I think that makes for a nice starting group for us.

about to go play through or possibly simulate this spring training idk but I will come back with a full season outlook for my 2nd Baseman and 2016 Cubs

Picked up the game over the weekend and am currently on AAA.

My first MLB franchise game, was drafted in the 5th round by the Giants as a SP with a 4SFB, 2SFB and cutter, modeled after myself.

Guess I gave him a tad too much velocity though as it's no longer in touch with the reality of who he was modeled after

As this was my 1st MLB franchise, I put difficulty on Beginner and I've been promoted to AAA after just 7 games at AA with 0.95 ERA. Currently have 1.36 ERA with 73 Overall and 83 adjusted, C potential, overtaking Lincecum but yet to be called up. Have yet to play a single full season and am already in AAA all stars.

Is this the norm pace or should I be increasing the difficulty? Still am not able to constantly have a perfect release, sp am hoping not to ruin the game by making it too easy or hard.

My SP now has an additional Splitter upon reaching AAA for swinging and misses like real life, a circle change up is on the books after hitting MLB.

On that note, the offense/defense on my team is donkey balls and we are at the bottom of the table, hardly ever winning with more than a 2 run margin. Not to mention Infielders fumbling on grounders which has already ruined 3 no-hitters.

Put in 2 transfer requests but have yet to be transferred out. Is it even working?
