Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Disregard my last post. I created a RF with the backup position of OF. He is 6'3" 214 lbs. After applying my flex points, here is how my player was built like.

    Contact 4/5 (2 Flex) - 40 ovr
    Power 4/5 (1 Flex) - 40 ovr
    Fielding 1/5 (0 Flex) - 20 ovr
    Arm 3/5 (1 Flex) - 55 ovr
    Speed 3/5 (1 Flex) - 60 ovr

I did great in the 3 game showcase: .294 avg, 17 abs, 5 hits, 1 2b, 1 3b, 5 rbi's. I was projected to get drafted in the second round but I actually got drafted in the 1st round! I got drafted by the Oakland A's with their 27th pick. Now here comes the dilemma. Should I sign or try to go higher in the first round. Hmmm. I decided to sign so here goes my journey to make the A's MLB team!
I will be starting my career playing batting 5th and playing RF for the Midland Rockhounds!

Japanese shortstop Takahashi Matsumoto continues his ascent in the Cincinnati Reds' farm system.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Marlins 1B Hiroyuki Nomo is continuing his strong rookie season.

His average is still in the .340's and he's closing in on a 30 HR season.

He struggled for a stretch as he has started getting the pitch around treatment in some situations, surprising the rookie and causing him to chase bad pitches.

He's trying to curb the aggressiveness he has and take the free bases. A couple intentional walks have been mixed in, especially when he bats left-handed, his most powerful side.

The Marlins continue to struggle, but with this young prospect, should he keep developing, the Marlins might have a middle of the order with Stanton, Jones and now a hitting Nomo.

His speed has helped on the bases. Eight triples and often scoring from first on balls in the gap. Not much with stolen bases, just 7-for-7 on the season.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I have several going. A power hitting/maxed arm 3B and Power righty SP for the Braves (they traded Chris Johnson away), a lefty SP with mad movement in the Astros AA, a CF (insane speed and arm) for the Rangers, 2B for the Rays who has max speed/glove, SS for the Yanks (great all around) now that Jeter is retiring, and a Catcher for the Cubs (maxed out arm).

I got some free points I used on all of these but two, but on all of these I used a game glitch (can't think of a better word). I found a really old player that in the game is old and languishing on the bench in real life. I made everything zero except potential, speed, base running/stealing, and either their glove or their arm. I made speed 90. FYI - for the catcher I made his speed 0 and his hitting better. They usually end up with a 100+ in bunting/drag bunting, stealing/aggression and (or) arm strength/accuracy or reaction/fielding. Here is a pic similar to what I mean:

The difference is the arm or glove is usually maxed out. I will share pics of my guys who have a maxed out feature from the Showcase. It can't be done with hitting, btw. Only the stats below durability. For a pitcher to have a lot of movement zero everything except movement and your first pitch will be over 100 with movement. I will create a new one and post pics later.

Of the guys I mentioned above, the 2B, the Braves players, the C and the SS are on the pros. I also have a LF in the pros (Angels - Hamilton went to RF) with a maxed arm/speed. As to max arm OF's - it may be my favorite part of the game to gun guys out at home. If you have any questions let me know!

No restarts though.. Because, well, you can't restart in real life gents.
I've created a contact speed SS and i will create a powerhitting RF. I would make a CF, but RF has the better start up stats.

Eventually the SS will have power and the RF will have contact. I just want to create both, to give me some variety, so im not always playing infield or outfield. I also have created a SP. so i have three positions RF SS SP. They can be transferred into next yrs game, so no rush and having to feel like you can only play 1 RTTS and after this yr you have to start over.

Atlanta Braves All-Star third baseman Rory McMahon terrorizes the St. Louis Cardinals over a three game series. Still in the month of July, the slugging red-headed Irishman notches homerun No. 29 and 30 of the 2016 season against the Redbirds.

i want to make a power hitter, i know the best position to start out as for a power hitter is 1B. So, im going to make a 1B, what should his secondary positions be? Seems like a lot of 1st basemen also play outfield.

I think I just got robbed of the cycle with my guy. I was having a beast game. 1st I doubled. Second at bat I tripled. 3rd at bat I homered and my fourth at bat.....

Was an error instead of a infield hit. It was a 0-1 count and I hit a chopper like ball up the middle. The second baseman dove for the ball and it bounced off his glove and went right in front of him. I've seen this a lot in the show and they usually count this as a infield hit but for mine they decided not too. Do you think I was robbed???

And to make matters worst, I go on a huge slump after this. My average was .310, now, 21 games later, it's .216. I am 7 for my last 62!!! With a Triple, 2 Homeruns, 2 walks and 8 rbi's.

Has anyone done so well in AA ball that you skip AAA and go to the majors and completely struggle? This has happened twice with me, my guy is a 71 ovr, but that's bc his speed is 90. contacts is in mid 60's and power mid 50's and i can't seem to hit the ball. This is my first show game, so i'm still playing on Rookie. If my guy struggles too much will he get sent back down to AA or AAA? I kind of want him to go back to AAA, so i can boost my stats a bit before i get 150 MLB AB's so i can actually have a chance to compete for ROTY. I got injured, so i didn't get called up till early August.

i have a 2B and SS i want to move one of them to OF, which one should i move to OF or should i just create another RTTS?

The 2B my friend gave me because he got an Xbox one, so the SS is the only one i've played from the beggining.

It depends on the attributes of each player. You should probably chose the faster on so you can track down the balls in the outfield
