Update #5 - OF Pakari Pogba

Finished off an injury plagued 2018 season in Baltimore with a .290 avg - 19 hr - 57 rbi - 48 steals in only 97 gp.

We won the AL East and FINALLY made the playoffs! Best the Tigers in the ALDS 3-1. Went up against the defending World Champion Texas Rangers, and lost the series 4-2. They went on to defeat the Braves and repeat. Had a meh postseason with a .250 avg - 1 hr - 4 rbi - 7 steals in 10 gp.

Off-season approaches and I am happy to re-sign with the Orioles. However, they do not offer me arbitration and now I'm a free agent! What a kick in the nuts! So now my 84 overall 23 year old player is a UFA. I will be with my 3rd team in 4 years. I'm turning into Bobby Bonds.

Only team interested in signing me so far is Cincinnati. May wait and see to do a spring training invite with an organization I'm a better fit with.

The streak continues. Longest hitting streak I've ever had in the show and every AB is getting a little nerve racking. The legend of Smoky Dutch is upon us

after being drafted by the cubs in the first round as a SP, I dominated in Double A going 5-0 having an ERA of .70 then the middle of May the Cubs purchased my contract and put me right into the rotation letting me skip right over Triple A, I am 1-1 so far in the majors, my first game a win over the yankees, my 2nd game a 1-0 loss to the Brewers

            New Road To The Show:
            Nathan Young
            6'4"
            200 lbs
            SP w/ Power pitch set (4 seam @ 95mph, Split finger @ 88mph, Slurve @ 80mph)

I had been getting a little bored with my other player Stanley Sutton so I decided to bring a pitcher into the mix. I was originally thinking to go with a highly durable precision pitcher like Maddux, but after seeing his initial stats I think Nathan is going to be more like Nolan Ryan. He had a mediocre showcase, giving up 8 runs over the 9 innings that he pitched, but I could see the glimmer of potential in his eyes as he battled his way through. Obviously the game didn't think so, rating him at an initial 54 with D potential. "Big league hopeful" is such a slap in the face of a label. The Marlins felt like wasting a pick on the young 18 year old in the 6th round, hoping that he might be a serviceable innings eater in the future. Knowing how, little was expected of him, Nathan tore into the AA ranks like a wild beast going for the jugular. After 6 starts, he is 4-0 (two no decisions due to poor run support and bullpen help), has a sub 1 ERA, and leads AA in strikeouts. Batters have no idea what to do against him, sporting sub-.200 batting averages from each side of the plate. He attacks the strike zone with a ferocity one can only imagine.

I still want to have a high precision feel to this pitcher, so I'm really focusing on upping his control stats on each pitch and may only add a 4th pitch to the mix without going to the full 5. I'd rather have 3 show stoppers and one very good pitcher, than 5 above average pitches. The only question is whether I should give him a 2 seam that breaks hard in on righties, or go with something funkier.

So I created a pitcher and have been playing with him some today, and I've noticed something a little strange. If the opposing pitcher ever comes up to bat with runners on-base (no matter the situation), he never swings the bat. He just stands there. I can throw 3 straight fastballs right down the middle. This happens EVERY time the pitcher comes up with runners on. If the bases are empty, he'll swing the bat no problem. But with people on, he won't attempt to bunt or move the bat off his shoulders.

For those of you with RTTS pitchers, have you noticed anything like this?
              MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
              NBA: New York Knicks
NFL: Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams
              NCAA: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

I've actually had the opposing pitcher get a hit off me, which is really frustrating when you end up only giving up two or three hits in a game.

Streak is over and I feel like the Undertaker after Wrestlemania. 39 games is all I got to show for. I absolutely ripped the cover off the ball in AAA all while being a C potential, which still didn't change upon the end of the season. I thought it would of changed to a B already but nope still that damn C and I didn't even receive a invite to Spring Training the following season. All part of the grind I guess, and it will be satisfying enough when I do finally get the call up.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

So I have been playing the show since 12 when I bought the PS3 and so far this is the best RTTS ever. I made two I made the first one as a left handed second baseman and I had a rough showing in amateur showcase getting drafted in the 4th round by Astros. But I ended up doing really well and got called up in 2016 as a second baseman/infielder. I have really struggled at the plate. The only complaint I have is that I'm already an 82 overall!!! It seems way to easy to get your overall up.

My second RTTS is probably my favorite. I made a left handed pitcher that is 6ft 192lbs that is a knuckleball pitcher. My thought was that not a lot of pitchers can throw that and I wanted to be that unique pitcher. Well I had an awesome rookie showcase going in the 2nd round to the bluejays. After spending only a month or two in AA I got promoted to AAA then around August 8th I got called up to the majors as a rotation pitcher for the blue jays. I finished the year in AAA before signing a two year contract with the bluejays as a rotation pitcher. I'm only a 65 overall. Year two started and I had a 4-0 lead against Indians gong into the 7th with 7 strikeouts before I gave up home run and loaded the bases and got pulled. Needless to say we lost that game lol.

My players pitches are Knuckelball, fastball, 12-6 curveball and cutter. Seems to work ok still got a lot of work to do but if you're looking for a different kind of pitcher try knuckleballer. It's actually pretty tough cuz you never know exactly where the pitch will go but it's also more rewarding that way

Currently in the Phillies AAA system with a low 3 ERA but somehow my team has a 90-38 record. How the hell is that possible?

Made another 1st baseman, went to the showcase and didnt do too bad but was only going to be a 2nd round pick so back to JC school for two years, I returned to the showcase and really did well and was the 1st round #1 pick of the Astros, I signed with the team as the top prospect , a month and half in doing well at AA .338 10 HR's 24 RBI's with out notice ( not asking ) I am traded to the Rays which made me very happy, only one thing I don't care for is the Trop, but I will make the best of it and enjoy my career there.

I'm waiting for the PS4 May 6 to get the game, but I noticed on YouTube you can now either model your player after an MLB player or you can customcreate him. My question is, since a lot of you have this game already for thePS3 which creation is a better choice?

I have done custom personally and have seen the MLb player ones done and played other than the Mlb players characteristics they are about the equal playing wise, IMO
