Trojan, that's with Meter, combined with Rookie and Veteran correct?
It's classic with Rookie hitting and Veteran pitching. @ the 22-game mark, I'm still at Rookie and Veteran, though my progress in pitching has me on the cusp of All Star. More stats to come.
Thanks. Just really struggling finding that balance.
My hits and runs allowed are low, so it's not like the CPU is taking advantage of the lack K's/increased BB's.
Actually debating on using something other than Classic or Pulse for the first time in years. QC's produce so many 3 ball counts that not having more control is killing my stats.
Funny thing is, I seem to induce a lot of weak outs, which is why Dynamic Difficulty keeps advancing me. I'd just like to see more K's and bring the BB's down a bit. Trying to get a feel from the community on the topic, because in all likelihood, I'm probably pitching stupidly (meaning pitching too much to contact in early counts, and nibbling to much with 2 strikes).
I wonder if the release day patch touched up gameplay? I never downloaded it.

I'm having a similar experience with Classic pitching - lots of weak outs, tons of walks. But I'm also getting the occasional huge day of strikeouts; I pitched 14 Ks with Iwakuma, plus another 3 or 4 with the bullpen.
On the other hand, I've only finished 5 games (started something like 25), and Dynamic difficulty still has me as Rookie +, still needing many more games to dial in that difficulty correctly. After I walked something like 6 guys in the first 3 innings, I started pitching to the "inner" corners (if the strike zone is a series of 9 boxes, I'm aiming to hit the "outside corners" of the middle box) and my walks have dropped dramatically. On the other hand, I've also given up a lot more home runs than I'm used to.
Anyway, long and short of it is that I'm going to keep going with Classic until the increased difficulty pulls it from my cold, dead hands.

Thanks for the response.
I've established that Dynamic Difficulty is forcing me to AS+, which is exactly where I should be based on my OBP allowed. So I think if I want to continue using QC's, I have no choice but to unfortunately stop using Pulse.
Now I have to decide if I want to use Meter (and end up on AS+ or HOF, or go back to my first love - Classic Pitching - and end up...well, somewhere between Rookie and All-Star -. LOL!
I'm admittedly SUPER anal when it comes to K's, BB and hits allowed. Pulse clearly isn't going to do that for me if I keep leveling up.
From the 10 or so games I've played so far, I've noticed something with quick counts that really kind of irks me. I mean it has no statistical implications but in almost every game I've played the pitchers have thrown 50%, if not more, balls.
I posted this link / chart in another thread, but it's worth a look here based on a number of responses:
So for those that have been using it, are the pitchers making their pitches based on the situation or as if it were a 0-0 count?
It seems to me that the game is tracking patterns just like it always has. If you view the pitcher and hitter analysis screens it actually breaks down the locations and results of the actual pitches being made by the human and CPU. Well, which is ingenious if you think about it.
How's everyone strikeout and BB numbers looking so far? Specifically with your starters.
I played another 7 games last night, meaning I've played close to 30 games. My highest single game performance has been 8 K's (Kershaw and King Felix), but otherwise it's usually 3-4 K's with my starter.
And man, the walks! Holy smokes. LOL! Averaging around 5 per game.
Loving how erratic Pulse is this year, but combine that with the 3 ball counts and I'm still struggling to find a balance with my K to BB ratios.
I know it's a small sample size, but one trip through the Tigers rotation (ALL STAR pitch difficulty, CLASSIC pitching) has netted these stats.
Also of note, Luke Putkonen, Evan Reed, and Joe Nathan EACH struck out the side in their lone appearance of the season.
All in all, pretty realistic numbers one turn through the rotation, with k's and BB's. The top 3 guys in the rotation should be averaging around a K per inning or just under. Porcello doesn't strike out that many, and Smyly has good games and bad. Walks don't seem too high to me, at least not yet.
Maybe the high walk rate, and low strike out rate has more to do with how you pitch, rather than the quick counts?

Nope. I have it turned completely off. I will look at the sign the catcher puts down, but will decide based on the count what pitch to throw, and the location.
If I'm ahead in the count, I will throw something out of the zone, and try to get the hitter to chase. If it 1-1 or 2-1, I will try to throw a strike, but still hit the corners.
On 3-0, 3-1, and 3-2, I will try throwing a strike, but not necessarily with a fastball.
One thing I'm really loving is the risk/reward of throwing a ball out of the zone on a 3-2 count. Seems like Russell et al have nailed down the pressure on both sides - I'm seeing a lot more swings at balls, especially on players who traditionally (Howard, Dunn, etc) chase.

Sweet! Classic seemed to fix my K problem! Oh my beloved Classic, why did I ever doubt you?
3 games using Detroit. 6 K's with Verlander, 9 K's with Scherzer, and 8 K's with um...well, I can't remember right not but he was awesome.
Now I did walk 17 batters, but I feel finally like I'm at a great starting point and will tweak sliders if need be!
Best thing is, using Classic with QC's, I was actually beginning to give up realistic hit and runs totals too against the CPU. So it's all perfect now!
