Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Game 2 of the ALDS was a low scoring affair but another fantastic pitching performance from Vargas gave me a win and put the Royals up 2-0 in the series.

I decided to give the ball to Yordano Ventura and give him a chance to make up for his poor ALCS performance but it was a no go. I couldn't find the strike zone at all and ended up losing 5-2.

With the series at 2-1 I give Danny Duffy the ball for game 4 in Kansas City. I love pitching with Duffy and he was outstanding for me all season..

Unfortunately I had to save and exit this game in the 7th inning with the Angels leading me 3-1, Duffy has pitched well but my bats are starting to cool off big time.. I figure I'll wrap up this game and possibly the series by tonight.. Stay tuned.

I am in season 5 with my Astros Chise and we finally made the playoffs by winning the division with a record of 86-76. I am in the ALDS against the Royals and they have a great pitching staff. I got shut down the entire game in game 1 and lost 3-0. In the 2nd game I was shutdown again until the top of the ninth when I got an rbi double bringing in Carlos Correa to tie the game at 1. I forced extras and couldn't get anything going in the top of the 10th. Then the lead off man of the royals hit a lead off triple and the next batter blooped a single just fair of the left field foul line to win the game. Frustrating that I can't get any hits but I will try to pull a comeback down 2-0.

I'm interested to see who the Royals now have on their pitching staff in your franchise

I'm not on right now but I remember the first two pitchers of theirs I went against. The first was (Brady or Braden?) Shipley and the next was Ventura, can't remember his first name, it's starts with a Y

Yeah wonder who they traded to get Shipley. Yordano Ventura is the other one, he's a flamethrower and was awesome first half of this season in real life, his stats still look alright in his last 4 starts but teams have been clobbering him.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to be asking this in but I am a rookie on here and it won't let me create a new thread. I have tried asking this on a few other threads but no one seems to know. Does anyone know if I edit a players attributes, lets say speed for example, under roster management in an already started offline franchise, will it stop/alter their progression or make them regress after doing this? I see that they have Yasiel Puig's speed at 68 slower than Corey Hart rated at 70 and dealing with chronic knee issues. I know this speed rating isnt correct and I thought of moving him up to 84, +1 of Heyward ranked 83. I just don't want any players that I edit to stop getting better long term. Thank you in advance!

I don't think it messes it up. I edit guys every once in a while and I haven't seen anything weird happen, so go for it!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well I ended up starting over because I decided to go with the Hybrid roster but made a few tweaks to it and set everything back to opening day with lineup/rotations and DL players. The more I played with the Hybrid roster the more I liked it and preferred it to original OSFM roster that I had did some rerating too. Just way to much bias showed with minor league players on some teams, and thats what I love about the Hyrbrid roster is there isnt any bias as its based off ZIP calculations.

I always play Spring training games and it gives me a good feel for the roster that way before the game count so I play it. My 1st 3 games were against the Indians. I took the 1st game of spring, but have dropped the last 2. Offesne looked good in the 1st game, but has had its struggles in the last 2 games. Plus some of my bullpen issues reared its ugly head in the last game, mainly The Big Dufus Logan Ondrusek, I cant stand him. I wish the Reds would get rid of him IRL. I follow to realllife that 1st season, but as soon as the offseason hits he will be gone, lol.

MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well the season came to end last night.. The Angels forced a game 7 on me in the ALDS and my bats disappeared toward the end of the series and they clinched with a 5-2 record..

The Dodgers swept the Angels however in the World Series.

The Kendrys Morales signing backfired on me as he retired at the end of the season.. Go figure..

I decided not to bring back Shields, Aoki, And Maxwell and signed Colby Rasmus and Justin Masterson in free agency.

Detroit picked up Billy Butler so it will be fun playing him every once in a while..

Lineup and pitching staff looks like this for 2015

                          1. RF Lorenzo Cain
                          2. 2B Omar Infante
                          3. 1B Eric Hosmer
                          4. C Salvador Perez
                          5. LF Alex Gordon
                          6. DH Colby Rasmus
                          7. 3B Mike Moustakas
                          8. CF Jarrod Dyson
                          9. SS Alcides Escobar

                          Bench
                          3B Danny Valencia
                          C Francisco Pena
                          2B Christian colon

                          Pitching Rotation
                          1. Justin Masterson
                          2. Yordano Ventura
                          3. Jason Vargas
                          4. Kyle Zimmer
                          5. Danny Duffy

Really don't know what to expect this season, could be a rebuilding year or could be another playoff run, I have some good talent in the minors I'm looking forward to developing.

You don't feel like it's too easy to pitch with the hybrid set? I was on hof and was winning games 2-0 consistently... What slider set do you use. Thanks in advance

I use my own slider set, and all I changed for the Hybrid set was to bump up contact to 7 for me and the AI. Now Im getting some games where both teams score 5 or more runs, as well as pitching duel games.

With the lower hitting for a lot guys as well a lowering of Clutch ratings for guys hitting sliders definitely needed tweaked with the Hybrid, but with raising hitting contact up for both you and AI you will get realistic stats. I also use QC's too.

Williard posted a slider set to use for the roster in his roster section, and it had power raised to 6 along with contact at 7. IMO power at 5 is fine, as Im seeing HR's by me as well as the AI.

For sim stats the Hybrod roster is the way to go. Im very OCD about sim stats, so thats why I went with that set and just took Tottes backdated set and put it back to OD with DL players in A ball. Plus the orignial OSFM roster had way to much bias showed with guys overating their favorite prospects and underating others. With the Hybrid set their is no bias which is what I like. Take the Cubs minor league teams, they were jacked way uop and you could have heat ML teams with them, lol.

If you try the Hybrid set again, just mess with hitting sliders a little and you will get to where you need it to be. Im not very good because of being on pain meds, so my reaction time isnt real good, but with contact at 7 Im getting realistic stats with my team. Now thats not saying much because I do use the Reds and they arent all that good of hitting team IRL

Dropped to 1-3 after losing to the Rockies 5-4. Leake got hit around pretty good in his 3 innings giving up to mamouth Hr's to Tulo and Morneau, although he did K 5 in 3 innings. Late in the game the offense started to come to life after putting in subs, and Donald Lutz hit a 455# 3 run Hr to dead CF.
