Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress
The Astros travel to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks in this inter league matchup between two top teams in their respective league. The Astros, fresh off a dramatic late-game comeback against the Angels, may need a blessing from the baseball gods once again.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress
Playing a Cubs season and simulated a season and edited a few people but hey who cares its my season to play and traded some people and then brought up the best prospects in the organization to play with and the depth chart is
C-Castillo
1B-Anthony Rizzo
2B-Javier Baez
SS-Starlin Castro
3B-Mike Olt
LF-Jorge Soler
CF-Albert Almora
RF-Kris Bryant
Still have Russell in AAA but if I start to struggle mid season then I'll trade Castro maybe for some pitching
Pitching rotation is
1-Travis Wood
2-Dan Straily
3-Erik Bedard (Signed)
4-Cody Anderson (Rule 5 Draft)
5-Jake Arrieta
In the first series against Pittsburgh it was a tale of 3 games
1st game lost 9-7 and both team got 16 hits and I could just hit really well
2nd game lost a pitchers duel 2-0
Dan Straily went 8 Innings and allowed those 2 runs
Tallon, Pittsburgh starter, went 7 and 2/3rd and got the win
3rd game lost 3-2 and was up 2-1 at the top of Ninth but my closer Madson allowed the game winning home run by Neil Walker and that ruined a great start by Erik Bedard, he went 7 Innings and allowed 1 ER and struck out 5
Only thing I need to improve on is I allowed 10 Doubles and Triples in that series
And now I face the Nationals in a 3 game seriesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress
33-33 with the Phillies. Playing every game. Loving quick counts. Trying to rebuild and stay in the race at the same time. Proving to be difficult. Basically the plan is if I stay in the race I will sell off parts I feel I can replace for the current season. For instance trying to trade Paplebon for prospects and have Giles close.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress
Just had the draft in the A's/Padres franchise. Sometime soon I'll try to post a mid-season update. For now, here are the draft reports for both teams:
Athletics 2014 Draft
Spoiler
1st Round
Anthony Borbon dropped to the end of the 1st round in large part due to questions about his ability to stick at catcher. Due to his size and the fact that he only started catching his sophomore year in HS, many scouts think he'll have to be moved to another position. Showing surprising athleticism and a strong arm, some think he could end up being a solid RF down the line. The A's were obviously enamored with his offensive skills. Borbon has plus contact skills, solid in-game power, and a very advanced approach at the plate. If he sticks at catcher, as the A's insist he can, he could end up being a perennial All Star.
2nd Round
Theodore Coronado (goes more often by Teddy or Theo) is the cause of quite a few disagreements in the scouting community. Some look at his powerful frame, his incredible combination of bat speed and bat control, and his frankly shocking K/BB numbers and see a can't miss bat-first outfielder. His offensive profile is truly impressive - a college kid whose bat could carry him to the big leagues in only a year or two. His critics, while acknowledging his special offensive tools, point out that he's pretty much maxed out offensively and cite his defensive shortcomings. His athleticism is average at best and just about every fly ball is an adventure for him. Unless he makes serious strides defensively, he may never be anything more than a DH.
3rd Round
Alfonso Rodriguez, a rather diminutive HS lefty, impressed a number of scouts with his pure stuff. One scout raved that his pitches had "plus velo, plus control, and definitely above-average movement". There are concerns with his small frame and the possibility he could end up as a reliever. He also struggled to use his plus stuff to rack up K's in high school. At best, he probably profiles as a #3 starter. If he transitions to the bullpen, he could move quickly through the system.
4th Round
Rickie Rossiter may have been a steal in the 4th. The two things that contributed to his fall were concerns about his slight frame and questions about whether he'd opt for college. The A's were able to get him signed for slightly above slot. Rickie is quite polished, especially for being 18, and his advanced pitchability could carry him quickly through the system.
5th Round
Jarred McKee was a college senior who didn't cost much to sign. Not a prototypical first baseman, he showed plus contact skills in college but very little power. He has a strong arm and good athleticism, but his defensive skills are below average. With a bit of work he could turn into a solid utility player, but unless he somehow taps into some hidden power don't expect him to ever become an everyday first baseman.
6th Round
Devon Acevedo is a soft-tossing HS righty. Decidedly lacking velocity, his pure stuff is below average. He relies on throwing strikes and keeping hitters off-balance, but there's much less margin of error in the pros. A velocity bump would do wonders to improve his prospect status, right now his best case scenario is a fifth starter or long reliever.
Padres 2014 Draft
Spoiler
1st Round
Ramon Andino was one of the top HS pitching prospects in the draft. A lefty with a 6'2" frame and room to fill out, he boasts both solid stuff and above average pitchability. While his ceiling may be that of a #2 and his velocity is only average, few pitchers coming out of high school are as polished as Ramon. He uses his above average control to induce weak contact and his solid mechanics bode well for his future.
2nd Round
Steve Jaquez may actually have a higher ceiling than Ramon, but is much more raw at present. The broad-shouldered left-hander has live stuff but struggles at times with consistent mechanics and location. He'll need a good amount of coaching, but if he manages to put it all together you're looking at a front-line starter.
3rd Round
Carmen Cedeno is an intriguing player. He didn't start pitching until his junior year of high school, and it shows. With his large frame and strong arm, it is a little concerning that his in-game velocity tends to be average at best. While he does get good movement on his pitches, they're very inconsistent and frequently flatten out. He's been very hittable throughout his college career, but can also rack up the K's when he's on. Some think the Padres reached to get a college junior who needs so much work, but they believe he has the potential to be a strong #3 down the road.
4th Round
Dexter Foster is a very raw college senior. Some scouts see flashes of future 5-tool potential, but the consensus is that he's much more likely to bust than boom. The switch-hitting outfielder has shown good bat speed and some power in batting practice, but on the field he often looked tentative and overmatched. There are also rumors of hidden athleticism, but that also is missing in game situations. The Padres took a bit of a gamble and only time will tell if it pays off.
5th Round
Jim Hirsch may be the steal of the draft for the Padres. The 6' tall right-hander just graduated high school and is best known for his impressive velocity. Not only can he dial it up with the best of them, he's also shown the ability to hold that deep into games. While he does have some work to do clean up his mechanics and improve his control, he's not as raw as he appears at first glance. His floor is probably as a high-leverage reliever, and his ceiling is probably a decent #3 starter.
6th Round
David Kim, the tall right-hander, had a solid college career and boasts above average stuff. If he manages to translate that stuff into more K's and fewer walks, he could be a relatively quick mover. He profiles as a middle-reliever down the road, maybe possibly in a setup role if he really maxes out.
7th Round
Darell Ratto is a very raw, hard-throwing HS righty. The downside is that he hasn't been able to translate his plus velocity into much success on the diamond, and most scouts doubt he'll ever be able to put it together. The Padres took a flyer since it's never a bad thing to have another bullpen arm with plus velo and they hope that their coaches will be able to help him iron out his mechanics so that the results begin to match the pure stuff.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress
Just finsished Spring Training finally and I ended up 17-10 with my Reds, which is the best record I have ever had in this game during Spring training, and I have always played all my ST'ing games and been buying this game since 09.
Got to do some cleaning up on rosters as I always start over my 1st season after spring training and set 25 man roster lineups and rotations to what it was on opening day. Plus Im going to add in Kyle Waldrop and Jon Moscot into my minors, as Im surprised they werent in the OSFM to begin with this yr.
With waiting and hoping SCEA would do us right by fixing their game to no avail Im getting a late start this yr unfortunately. Since they screwed us PS3 users over this yr I wont by buying next yrs game, and will probably play 14 until I finally get a PS4, which will more than likely be a few yrs away, so I should get several season into my chise. Plus with the Budget issue I will have to do a little more work in the offseason with 30 team control than in the past, so since I will be so invested in this chise I wont be so quick to want to jump to next yrs game anyway. I have also put a tom of time into ratings adjustments with the hybrid roster along with setting it back to OD that I want to play the game till it wont play anymore, lol.
I remember back when I was young I would basically play games until they just wouldnt play anymore, so I definitely got my money out of them as long as I played them. With the cost of these games and us struggling financially because of my medical bills, I wont be buying any games yearly anymore, and I will get my money out of them by playing them for a long time. Just seems a waste to be a franchise player and get anew game every year and not really ever build a team.
Hoping I can get my chise started with in the next day or 2 as it should take me to long to clean up the roster before starting over.
By the way with using the Hybrid roster I decided to compare the spring training stats in my game to the real life stats in spring training, and I was shocked an amazed at how spot on they were in every categeory. What a amazing job Williard and all who were involved in the Hybrid roster ratings, cause they stats wer as accurate as I have ever seen in any video game compared to real life.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11
