    Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD

Rod, do you have a stance for Nyjer Morgan on 09?

Heres a video from last year, hes pretty much the same, I noticed in spring training this year he has a 2 handed follow through. Aaron Miles is the best I can come up with.

The official website of the Pittsburgh Pirates with the most up-to-date information on news, tickets, schedule, stadium, roster, rumors, scores, and stats.

    thanks Rod

      Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD

I use a random number generator to assign stances and pitching deliveries to rookies and other players with generic stances or deliveries.

One of my relievers ended up with Satchel Paige and one of the hitters got Willie Stargell.

I'm struggling finding a good one for Jeff Francoeur, anyone have any suggestions? He has a new stance this year where he's slightly open but I can't find one I like.

          Re: Seattle Mariners-2009 @ bhs16

for Chavez----the bat position it too low...and he moves his bat, but not in that fashion

for Ichiro, I can see it, but I aint messin with it

for Cedeno, they're almost identical actually...just that Wilson's stance is a little more upright...so that's cool

for Morse, I think I used A-Rod's stance in '07 for him. But watching one of his AB's on mlb.com from the end of last season, he's pretty much opright now.

          for Balentien..no way! LOL
Scott is wayyy to crouched for him

I didnt do Burke, since hes not going to be on my (and probably the M's 25 man roster). But last year I used Beltran because he is basically upright, not crouched like Stinnett

for Clement...i doooont think he's crouched (his knees) that low...if so, my bad, but I don't think so...

I didn't do Rob Johnson...same deal as Burke...but I don't have anything for him at this time at all

Shelton ain't on my 25 man, but LAST YEAR I used Jose Valentin

          Mike Sweeney-Trot Nixon it is!

Jose Lopez...in years past, Cairo's bat positioning was more upright and out in front...which is Lopez...the problem I have with the two choices you offer is that both are severe crouched stances...you got a thing for deep crouches, huh? LMAO

I saw those for him, and stayed with Cairo again for about the 3rd year in a row

for Polynesian native, Tuiasosopo...last year I used Youkilis (which is similar to V. Martinez')...this year, Youk aint good because they have his hand positioning on the bat corrected...Tui aint on my 25 man either, but I would probably, off the top of my head, go with Posada, since I THINK Martinez' stance, again is crouched too low.

Bedard....I picked his delivery last year (Maholm) and will leave it. Why? Since Buehrle's and Maholm's deliveries are similar, Im gonna guess that I chose Mahold because when I timed his delivery (I use a stopwatch on occasion), the start of delivery to finish, was closer in the actual time than any other option....

              @ tree3five

ok, I'll be honest...me personally, I don't care much about if a guy has a one hand or two hand follow through. Actually, that component is the last in a chain of things I go through/filter through in deciding the best stance.

I have found that if a guy has a stance n the game that basically mirros his own, but someone doesnt want to use it because he takes one hand off or keeps both hands on, ya really, really limit yourself...and then what happens is, someone will select another stance that if FURTHER AWAY from the most realistic one...

And besides, ain't we supposed to be keep our eyes on the ball? LOLOL

now I havent gotten to the Bucs yet in my yearly go-through before Opening Day, but checking here, I see I used Cora's stance last year....

When I get to the Bucs, I will check to see if something nees to be changed with him.

                ok cool thanks

I totally agree with you about follow throughs, while I make note of them, its not the most important. Nyjer is a tough one for me this year, I took your advice last year and used Cora's but in 09 Cora;s stance has changed and it nothing like Nyjer's.

for now Im using Aaron Miles for Nyjer, he has the foot tap (except its both feet, not the front), hes bent over, same bat waggle, but his legs move too much and something is just off, its close though. I'll wait and see what you come up with, I feel like Im missing something that you might find. thanks again for the help Rod

                  I like it, good job.

I just wish there was a stance with him slightly open, I guess there's not. That's about as close as I've been able to find though.

His default stance is not even close.

Understandable, Carew. Again, different people have different preferences and me personally - I can't stand for the followthrough to be incorrect, it's just a pet peeve. But I do understand the limitations it causes and the possible extreme of going way off base on a player just b/c of the followthrough so hopefully I'm not like that.

overlapping Ledee's with Marrero's right now...they are indentical save for:

                        a) Marrero's is open....Ledee's is borderline even/closed

                        b) bat movement: Ledee's is a soft, up and down movement. Marrero's is a soft, very slight up and down movement..

                          The Indians' Joe Smith

Joe Smith: his 'hidden' delivery in the game is wrong. The hidden delivery has him NOT pitching from the set position...which he has done since day one in the majors. Instead, it has him doing the rock back-and-forth thing.

The correct delivery for Smith is Generic 7
(which was the old Mike Myers delivery)

Rod - What do you use for Justin Masterson

I know he has a hidden delivery, but was wondering if you use someone else. My preference was tos tick with the hidden delivery which I thought was pretty good. I downloaded Rdiin and Brunnoce rosters with full minors and they have Masterson using Dave Bush which I don't like at all for him.

                            Any help?

I had changed him to Bush before I found out that he had a hidden delivery....
