Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
I'd sign you over Bonds!
Murphy will get the treatment....I gotta get him batting second anyway!
Heck..if I were Jerry Manuel...and dead stuck with Castillo...I would have this lineup
Reyes
Castillo
Murphy(I know...no homer power but neither did Mex!)
Delgado
Beltran
Wright
Church
Schnieder
Pitcher
If I had my druthers...I'd start Cora over Castillo at this point. Ugh..
C potential is about 50-50...or 40-60 I'd say....platoon maybe bench
A-Superstars..very good regulars
B-Great...very good regular
C-possible regular-platoon player
D-probably not-bench/fill player-minor league regular
All with some degree of variance as far as what will happen with the most variance in the B-C guys

Do i understand correctly then, the mets 2 top picks last year Ike Davis, and Reese Havens with their C potential are nothing more then 50-50 regulars/platoon guys? Next question...any way to get their potential up (is potential editable anyway?)?Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Hey Knight...
Im a first time poster and would like to thank you for all you do. Ive read your releasing three rosters. Can you tell me what the difference is between them? I read something about SCEA stock but IDK what that means.
thanks: CartyComment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
The stock ratings are me taking the original attributes that SCEA gave them and putting them back to the MLB players....that I had to change to get the MLB batting orders to stick(due to the lineups getting tossed around when you started a franchise(ie...Sizemore/Soriano batting 3rd/5th instead of 1st...Helton batting second etc...)
This first release will have the edits to get the lineups correct.
The second...back to SCEA original numbers...
The third...some tweaks I like to make for gameplay and stats..just my own "recipe"
First one complete...will be next weekend.
levalution...
I didn't mean to imply that's a set in stone thing with the potentials...and I should upgrade C into MLB regular category also. C potential players will need more attention with training and coaches to progress in a more timely manner.....and according to SCEA...all of those letter grades have the potential to be gems/busts and anywhere in between...so you gotta keep your eye out.

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
If you want to edit their potential you're going to have to edit a position player with B potential who you want to be a C and turn him into Ike Davis. The player with B potential's stats should be transposed onto the Cpotential Ike Davis.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
In trouble?...men on base?...David Wright up....give him two to foul off.....then throw him a hook or even better a slider...that is outside and you got yourself a K

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Wright did very little against Reds pitching, and we are no where near our best atm...
but knight just wanted to say holla and props to your amazing editing skills and scouting ability (why don't you work for mlb?)
question: the complete full minors roster, your final version, when you said your own "tweaking" does that mean the pitch edits and stance edits? or those plus your own attribute tweaking...Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Knight....First, thanks for all your hard work. I truly appreciate your efforts. My question centers around the player attribute edits you've had to make in order to fix the line ups. I've read a lot of posts where folks are afraid the changes are significant enough to radically change statistical outcomes. Knowing your rosters from the past, I don't think this is true and I believe it's probably overstated? Can you set the record straight? I've read your comments on exceptions like the Indians (i.e. Sizemore). However, it's my assumption that for most teams, the changes made were minimal and will have a small if any noticeable impact on stats. Can you please share your opinion? Thanks again for your work.Comment
