I would like the latest updated SCEA numbers too. Also, I don't expect you to do this, but now personally, I think I would like stock SCEA pitches (no Razr edits (no offense to Razr, just want more 4 seamers back in the rosters, he did a great job with a lot of the other pitches)) with that too. Do you think you may do this since some people here, including myself are interested?

I totally understand if you aren't going to do that at some point, so if you're not just let me know, and I'll have to get to work on it after you release your non-lineup glitch fixed (stock SCEA) rosters.
I am a newbie to "The Show" and I'm a bit confused about this post. So could someone please help me out with a few questions:
    1. What are the attribute edits?
    2. Does Knight's current roster just have roster fixes, etc?
    3. Updated SCEA numbers is what?
    4. Stock SCEA pitches?
    5. Stock SCEA Rosters?
    6. Does Knight's current roster set have walk-up music, player intros already in it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!

Sorry if I'm being stupid, but I still don't understand the significance of the differences between Knight's version 2 and version 3.

I know it has something to do with SCEA stock ratings, but why exactly is this necessary?

That's the way I like to start my franchise, and I saw others say the same, so I posted them on SportsConnect. I don't want any credit or thank you's as these are KNIGHT'S rosters and all I did was put injured players back on their teams. It took all of about 30-45 minutes to do.

I'm playing my Yankee franchise with these rosters and in Game 1 I had 4 hits (2 singles, a double, and a homer). I play All-Star with close to default sliders. I only had 4 hits but didn't feel like I was overmatched. It's just 1 game. I'm playing my 2nd game now. Let's see if I have better luck against Uehara.

Again, thanks Knight for all the hard work. It's much appreciated by me.
I just started a franchise with Knight's V1.0 rosters and wanted to do the same thing. That is put the injured players back into the lineup so that each team is fielding the best possible players.

Just curious, how did you determine who to drop when you brought guys up? For instance, I play as the Jays and want to put Marcum, McGowan, and Janssen into the lineup. Who did you drop? I'm assuming Purcey and Romero....

Any chance you are going to do the same thing if and when Knight releases his full minor rosters with stock attributes and pitches?

Actually Morlan is on BOTH teams, and yes who is Barack Taubensee from Milw and who is Quincy Lattimore on Pitts? No record of them on Baseballamerica.com. That site has all the current rosters for each team throughout the entire organization.

Knight and Co., just an amazing thing you did w/ these rosters. Coming from a guy that's seen all the video bb games through the years,it's weird looking at the rosters with ALL real players, very accurate too. I had never heard of 90% of these minor leaguers til now, I have never paid much attention to minor leaguers. So, after about 20 combined hours, I now have an edited roster saved with all the minor league lineups correct (as best I could), and all the injured players back on MLB teams. I ,for one, prefer to have the best 25 players starting on each team when I start a season/franchise/RTTS. I do not care if the players are injured in real life cause these games are pure "fantasy". To each his own, eh?

Again, thanks Knight and Co. for this awesome roster. I'm very impressed with the detail and accuracy.

PS Why does St.L and Arizona have so many pitchers? I believe on St.L ,I had to put 2 fake players on in place of R. Castillos and P. Parise (couldn't handle all the pitchers, had to do something) Also, I'm not putting C. Burke onto SD, cause I do not know who to get rid of on SD, otherwise completely updated to todays rosters. I'm thinking of putting this roster on the vault (as long as i'm not sued by Knight)

Oh, I saw Tyler Walker on Phil AAA. Knight your rosters are so accurate with real players that if someone goes from one team to another by waivers or a trade for a PTBNL etc, it's maddening figuring out who to get rid of, haha. W. Mo Pena was easy though, just changed him for M. Anderson.

Ahhhhhh, actually ready to start playing a season. Thanks again, Knight!!!

Re: Operation Sports Full Minors '09 - Discussion Thread

For those of you who are like me and like to update the rosters with the daily transactions, I usually drop the lowest rated player on the roster to the FA list when picking up a FA, or when trading, just add the lowest rated fake/developer player to the team who is losing a player, then swap said player with the lowest rated player of the same position on his new team if it's for a PTBNL or cash. I actually write down where all the developers are and what real life prospects are on the FA list so when later transactions occur, I can just return them to their team when taking away a player who is moving. It sounds complicated, but it's quite simple when you do some minor note-taking.

Good stuff, thanks. I had a question right along those lines in struts thread. Do you know where all the dev players are in the set? I believe Knight said there was one lurking on a roster somewhere with the rest in the FA pool.

How many dev players are in the game...and FOR WHAT REASON? Such BS lol

Being that this is a baseball game, there are some problems with the computer's management of lineups. For example... think of the Indians and Grady Sizemore. In real life, Sizemore bats leadoff, right?

Well, after the computer is forced to make transactions (lets say someone gets hurt and they called someone up), it automatically re-optimizes the lineup. Instead of keeping Sizemore at leadoff, it'll say, "hm, this player has a good combination of contact and power -- let's hit him third in the lineup!"

What Knight did is basically go through and make as-mild-as-possible edits to some players so that when the computer re-optimizes lineups, they'll be much more likely to put players in lineup positions reflective of real life. So for instance... maybe with Sizemore, he (this is hypothetical) lowered his power, upped his contact a little and gave him a bit more speed. The ratings adjustments weren't extreme... so to us, he still plays like Sizemore and is for all intents-and-purposes, the same player. To the computer, though, he's more of a leadoff hitter!

To give another example: in MVP Baseball 2005, you'd often-times see Scott Rolen batting leadoff with the Blue Jays. It was mind-numbingly stupid! Knight's edits try to avoid stuff like this.

Basically... the computer is objective with the way it does lineups. Knight tried to fool it into being more subjective by making edits to attributes.

                        2. Does Knight's current roster just have roster fixes, etc?
The current roster has (per fellow user Millenium):
-Nearly 1200 players created.... (this means that each player in the game is based on REAL LIFE players in the minor leagues)
-All created players rated and leveled for their position in the depth chart and proximity to the MLB in some cases
                        -All pitchers with correct pitches
-Faces for all players done(some will be reworked...I've explained that before)
-The MLB lineups are set as well as the pitching staffs....I did not alter the pitchers to try and line up the 1-5 though as the CPU would need that to allow for real life mirroring of this.
                        3. Updated SCEA numbers is what?
OK, "stock" SCEA rosters are the rosters that you see when you first load up the game.

"Updated SCEA numbers" refers to players attributes that have been changed in SCEA updates. What are those updates? Well, when you log on to play online, it forces you to download the latest rosters. It also allows you to save those rosters for use offline. Sometimes in those updates, players have their ratings adjusted... that's what "updated SCEA numbers" means.

                        4. Stock SCEA pitches?
Knight has received help from numerous people, including a guy by the name of RAZR. RAZR went through and edited pitches in the game so that their repertoire more closely-resembles the pitches these guys throw in real life.

For example, a lot of pitches in real life have fastballs with a lot of movement. What he did with a lot of pitches was took their 4-seam fastball, and replaced it with either a two-seam fastball or a rising fastball, to simulate fastballs that have natural movement.

"Stock SCEA" pitches would mean that it would be Knight's rosters (full minor leagues, etc), but removing RAZR's edits.

For example, let's look at Chris Carpenter:
                        "Stock" Carpenter: 4-seam fastball
                        "Knight's/RAZR's" Carpenter: Sinker

If you used Knight's, Carpenter would have a Sinker instead of a 4-seam fastball. Again, the idea is to simulate pitcher's who have a lot of natural movement on their fastball...

                        5. Stock SCEA Rosters?
"Stock SCEA Rosters" are those that you see when you first load up the game for the first time. In other words, you haven't downloaded anything online.

                        6. Does Knight's current roster set have walk-up music, player intros already in it?
It doesn't, because it's not possible to do this with the way the game is set up.

In summary... Knight is releasing different versions.

One of them will include a lot of edits to players (this helps with better CPU lineup management, more accurate and realistic pitch repertoires), and another will use the default SCEA ratings (or the updated ones, depending on what people prefer more). BOTH OF THEM will include COMPLETE minor leagues.

I hope this helps you man! If you need me to elaborate or clarify, let me know.
