i've seen many way off potentials just on the pirates. Paul Maholm, Zach Duke, Charlie Morton all Ds, while Daniel McCutchen is an A and Ross Ohlendorf is only a C, should be at least B....Evan Meek is also a D coming off a great season and he's in his mid 20s. I can assume there are also some other major issues throughout other teams. Whatever you guys all decide to do is cool obviously, but i think it would be less work waiting for another fix, then to jump around all of these hoops with fake players and these bad potentials too. I mean Daniel McCutchen an A? probably a B, but NOBODY has him at A. I know its only one letter but its a matter of principle that its obviously wrong, that makes me wonder how many others are even more off. I think you guys should hold up. take it for what its worth.....

My opinon is - just start the rosters!
There is no guarantee that the next roster update will be any better, so just get cracking on the rosters. There is no doubt in my mind that w/ Knight & Ridin working together with Ksig - we are all in for the best baseball gaming experience possible.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
I completely agree with the rest of you, but here is what I am worried about potential wise. I am afraid that if we create 500 players that some of the c,d guys that may move up the ladder may be ousted by the games intelligence generator, which means all these good minor leaguers will be replaced by SCEA fake minors guys. Those guys are annoying and makes for a very unrealistic playing experience Franchise wise. I have also come to the conclusion that the players like Bailey that are D's are because they are going to be played with by users and their ability may increase as well as their potential. What did you find out from the simming Ridin?Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com / @RidinRostersComment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
from the seasons i simmed ahead I didnt see anything weird or out of line with the prospects...like I said I did see A's become B and C's looks all relative too me, nothing that jumped out at me....the ratings do jump up and down, I saw top prospects who were B's progress nicely and even pass out players who were originally A's..i have been toying with this roster for hours now and I say its good to go!Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
Rage posted this in another thread....
I downloaded the new rosters online. If you have the wacked-out potentials even if you have logged on to sportsconnect, you will have to do the following:
1) Go on Sportsconnect
2) Download and Save Live Roster
3) Go offline
4) Load up the Live Roster
You should have the new rosters with the potential fixes.
For reference (From my list last week, and additional notable players):
*NOTE: My initial proposed potentials were based on the roster out of the box.
**DISCLAIMER - Based on last year, potentials may change on download of the live roster (I remember I would do this since potential would change each time in previous games)**

Count:
A pitchers: 121
A position players: 21
However, the new roster has addressed the obvious potential problems.
Personally I think waiting another week to let scea fix some of these guys might not be a bad thing. Sure they might not fix it but they might end up fixing it. Do we really want to be using rosters that are semi-broken all year? If they change the rosters for the worse next week we can just use this weeks set.Cosmetic Guides to the Show v2 Rosters

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
Just wow looking at that list. Seriously, the only thing SCEA should work on for next year is making sure the rosters, potential ratings and franchise works. If they can't get that right then why bother."I am more valuable to my team hitting .330 than swinging for home runs." - Roberto Clemente

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
Well in regards to the MLB players potential, not everybody will see eye to eye on it. Its never going to be perfect, waiting for something that may not get better may not be for the best.
And as far as the prospects, yeah its a little unbalanced obviously. But the ratings do jump and down as the seasons continue. And if it was very unbalanced then im sure SCEA wouldnt have released it how it did. Im pretty sure its all going to work out in the end, but its dissappointing still.
I think the overhaul on the rosters should just start as it is instead of waiting for a "maybe."
But I appreciate all the work put into this, so with that being said... I personally have no issue in waiting longer. Whatever gets decided is good with me.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
Has anyone yet determined what exactly causes a player's potential to go up/down? Is it completely random, or does it always happen in a certain scenario? Like, if player with a B potential has X ratings, and he outperforms those ratings by X amount, will he always move up to an A? Or if he does way worse than his ratings would suggest, does he always drop to a C or D?
Just curious, haven't had time to mess with it myself yet.Comment

Say he starts the first half with a 2.46 era. Progressively throughout the entire season, he will decline, making him perform worse that season. Then at the end of the season, it will show that he lost like 5 ovr. HE WILL NOT get 5 ovr worse next year in 11 the show if he say had a 2.46 era in real life. Maybe his potential would go up maybe not. but regardless, the game will make him get worse at a D potential b/c he is a B or A ovr player as of now.
i have a simmed a little too, and i am not seeing potentials go up. the problem is duke wont pitch a 2.46 era. he might have a 3.9 or 4.1. this is about where he's at, and shows he's better than D potential. he would be B to maintain his current stats maybe increase b/c he's young...well he should increase. anyway in the game he'll go down 5 points throughout the season even though he had a decent season. his potential will not increase, and then he'll do worse the next year b/c he'll be rated lower.
THIS is the problem with starting the rosters now. and i really haven't seen anyone go up in potential scanning the rosters around the league after a season or two, and nobody on the pirates went up. even guys that obviously have the wrong potential ratings. The adaptive potential is a nice complement to what we had last year, but it wont make these rosters even near the quality of last year or any year. This is fact you cannot get around this issue.Last edited by bigal093; 03-08-2010, 11:27 PM.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
Has anyone commented on the budgets as you simulate forward, they are way out of proportion again this year, it's not so much the contracts but the team budgets themselves. Any thoughts of making a workaround so that they are somewhat in-line?Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
I am not saying this to you or trying to be mean in the way i say this, but i am so sick of people using the potential fluctuation as an excuse. Potential affects rating during the season....and people like zach duke have a bad potential(D)...its wrong.

I mean if SCEA already came out and said they will still make modifications towards these potential ratings for Pro's and Prospects then by all means I hope they wait before they start these custom rosters.
Thats why I said it may be the best its going to get. I hope SCEA decides to take another swing at it and correct it some more.Last edited by ssxtricky30; 03-09-2010, 12:08 AM.Comment
