STL, thanks for the condolent thoughts of Ryan Westmoreland. It sure is a shame that he is having this happen, but in life his family is suffering way more than we can ever imagine. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family. Being a South Boston Irish Catholic myself I will say a prayer as well.

He will be excluded from the set.

I think he rates an A, mainly because the potential to be a 30 homer guy is very possible.

Sano is a tough call to me, but the Twins have one of the best developmental systems in the Majors, if they liked him, it tells you something

Just a quick logistical question here (or two). Have you guys already started making the rosters? If so, how are you guys overcoming the lack of A potential position players? The reason I ask is because I created the top prospects for the A's just for fun and some test run stuff. I grabbed all of the A potential guys from free agency, since I didn't have any for position players, and put both of them on the A's. That's right, BOTH of them. I foresee this as a potential (no pun intended) problem for roster makers. I am curious to see how this is overcome.

Hey Ksig, I'm sure you get tired of some of the questions, but it's hard not to ask lol.

With the Rangers Farm-system being rated #1 overall the past two years, is their farm going to be noticeably better in yall's set? Or I guess a better way to ask is are both their AAA and AA teams going to be ranked in the top 3, or something like that, in the overall rankings?

another question on top of this. Is Feliz gonna stay a RP? With the lineup up logic would it be possible to make his pos SP but place him in the bullpen?

Stuff like this makes me wish the game had a better way of handling players changing pitching roles. Like, maybe you could assign relievers to work on their stamina in the spring so they could become starters, or vice versa. Or just have all young pitchers be designated as just pitchers, until they establish themselves in one role or the other.

There really isn't a lack of A-potential position prospects. In the 3/8 update, I counted 20 already included in the roster, plus an additional 19 you can create (assuming that all 19 created players are position players). This is more than previous years, since the max would 25 total A-potential prospects (spread across 30 teams, some teams deservedly had 2 A-potential prospects while others with weaker farms systems didn't).

There is an excess of A-potential pitchers though.

It depends, player ratings are independent of real-life farm system rankings. So, if the Rangers and the Rays had the best farm systems, they may not necessarily have the most A-potential prospects, but they either may have the most B or higher potential prospects and have some of the best rated (in terms of overall) prospects either ball club. Some teams with good farm systems may not have the reflected on their team because their top prospects may be in Class-A, such as the Padres.

Thanks Rag. This is what I was curious about. I don't think 25 total A potential players is that far fetched. In fact, I thought last year that there were too many players (not just prospects) with A potentials. I just thought it was odd to see only 2 position players with A in the FA pool, as I would go there in the past if I needed one not in my system. I also have an earlier roster update. It might be stock. I can't remember off hand what I was using.

Heh, if you thought last year had a lot of players with A-potentials, I believe it was 07 where about 80% of the major leaguers were A-potentials, very few B-potentials and everyone else in the minors was C or lower (with the exception of a few prospects).

Would it be possible to post updates on the first page of this thread? I'd really like to know how far along the roster editors are. If they are still a month away I might go ahead and start my franchise. If it's a week, I can wait. I'd really like to know (as I'm sure a lot of other would) when to expect these rosters. Thanks for all the hard work.

Basically we are just dealing with it. I made Taylor, Carter, and Stassi A potential players. The lack of A's doesnt really stink all that bad because A potential guys in this game are guys that are sure shots imo. The B and C prospects are good prospects and hopefully they increase if you play well with them.
