I saw Strasburg a few times last season, not because the Royals had a chance in hell at drafting him, but out of curiosity.
His main offering is a filthy two-seamed fastball that usually sits in the low 90's. He generally works off of this pitch and has excellent IQ at when to throw it. It has very late movement and sinks very late. His high 90's fastball that usually sits anywhere from 95-97 while touching 99 and triple digits, but its not his equalizer. His equalizer is his "slider" or slurve, or curveball whichever you prefer to call it, but I call it devastating! It has serious late break and nasty movement and its trajectory is anywhere from 11-7 to 12-6 and usually in the low 80's. His command with this pitch is very inconsistent however the offering is so nasty that he gets inferior hitters out with it because of its break. He also has developed a change that has been talked about as being a plus offering. My opinion is that while he will get a lot of k's he will also get a lot of weak grounders. His ability to mix in the high heat along with the well commanded 2-seamer will continue to baffle hitters at all levels.
