Cecil Fielder is on the Tigers. I'm not doing guys twice, which means no Ichiro, Daisuke, etc. If they had success in MLB, I'm going to leave them on their team.

I have Tuffy Rhodes on the tentative roster. If for some reason he doesn't make the cut, I'll definitely put him in the Cubs farm system, but I plan on keeping him on the roster as of now...

I think this is the best historic roster that I have ever used. Great job.
        NFL: Tennessee Titans
        MLB: Cincinnati Reds

          Re: All-Timers Teams

Thanks, man. It took a long time, but I feel that it was worth it. I played a few spring training games in season mode now and I think I'm happy with most of them. There's a few I'm going to go back and do some tweaks on, but for the most part, I feel that I'll enjoy these for a long time.

Now, in looking over what I have left, there is now way I am going to finish the entire free agent roster before the next game comes out. I assume the Roster Vault closes at some point, so as I took today off from editing and am finalizing the players I want in the minors with the number of slots left. There's a LOT left to do. I will post the rosters in the vault once I finish the Silver and Golden Era teams, but the minors will probably be incomplete. I will try to edit all of them, but time isn't on my side.

One more 40-Man change. Warren Cromartie replaces Ron Fairly on the Nationals roster...

Not too sure I'll get to any editing today, but maybe...thanks for the feedback.

Would you let us know when your tweaks are all finished? I'm not worried about the minors. Thanks.

Mysterio, would you happen to have a slider set using this roster? Would like to use your's as a base. Thanks my friend.

No, sorry. I don't have a certain set of sliders. I've only played a full 3 games with the set as of today... and wow, I just had an amazing game between the Pirates and Yankees in Spring Training... I was the Yanks and was so frustrated throughout the game as I couldn't score in the last 4 innings. Was losing 7-5 going into the 9th...Hideki Matsui (pinch hitting for Billy Martin) got a single, followed by another single from Roger Maris...and then Bernie Williams came up and hit a 3-run homer for the walkoff win...I don't get too many walkoffs, so this was special to see...I'm not even sure I had seen the walkoff animation this year...

They're coming soon, I hope. Maybe next week. We'll see. I'm still sticking FA's in as I edit because honestly the two teams don't interest me that much, but I like the idea of having a "history of baseball" roster...so that's what I'm shooting for...

Just curious...what was your reference in putting these teams together? I know there are different lists out there by different sources...did you use one or these are based on your own knowledge and preferences?

I found a lot of different lists on the internet from various sources and I did use them as a base to get the idea started. However, baseball-reference.com was very handy when I did not agree with or wanted to find better options. You can look at each team's record holders, yearly starters, and entire rosters by position on that site. There were moments when I chose guys based on my own knowledge and preferences and then there were moments when stats helped me make choices on the final guys.

For example, I have trouble leaning towards older players pre-integration and unless their numbers were just outstanding or there were no better options, I kept them to a minimum as much as possible. Granted, you had your obvious no-brainer guys like Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, etc. but for the most part, I'm not as impressed with the older era as most...although I guess that debate will continue on for years to come.

I will say that I learned a lot I didn't know from doing this project and while I did enjoy it, it was a lot of work and a lot of information to sort through at the end of the day. I'll do some more free agents and continue to plug away on the Negro League teams and International Teams tomorrow...good night all...

I'm pretty sure that his 1/11 edit was to add the file link for people who don't have their PS3 online.

After playing a game with the Red Sox, I think the Nation is missing Manny Ramirez, so I am taking him away from Cleveland and putting him on the Red Sox. I'll probably bump Doby to the main roster and send Brett Butler (FA) over to the 40-Man to accomodate the extra slot. I just feel that Manny will be remembered more for his Sox years than his Cleveland years...

It worked out like a 3-way trade, as Manny Ramirez goes from the Indians to the Red Sox, Reggie Smith from the Red Sox to the Dodgers, and Brett Butler from the Dodgers to the Indians. Zack Wheat and Jimmy Collins are off of their 40-man rosters, but they're still there for your use if you just have to have those HOF'ers on your team. I expressed my feeling on them a few posts back.

I wouldn't. Manny made his name with CLE.

People will remember Reggie Jackson as a Yankee, but that's not where he made his name. Same with Mussina. People will remember Dawson as a Cub, but he's primarily an expo. I wouldn't let recent memory could the judgement.

BOS has Teddy and Yaz to man LF, and they have others who can DH.

Wow, I just looked up manny's stats with CLE. In 98 and 99 he had 310 RBIs (145, 165). I know RBIs are not a "player value" stat, but I think it shows how good those CLE offenses and Manny were. I'd keep Manny in CLE.
