Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
Playing a 1988 Roster Postseason with the A's based around who would have been in had the postseason been done then as it is now. Took out the Royals in the ALDS leaving ALMOST the same LCS matchups as the real 1988 season, the NLCS is exactly the same, Dodgers vs Mets, however my A's are facing the Minnesota Twins instead of the Boston Red Sox for the AL Pennant, so we will see if we get the A's/Dodgers WS (with Gibson as a noninjured everyday player, making the Dodgers even a more dangerous opponent) or an A's/Mets WS as many people thought would happen, or even a Twins matchup with the NL Champ, which I would likely play anyway, either with the Twins or Mets, no way I would use the Dodgers. Once I finish this, I will go on to a 1989 Postseason, followed by a 1990 Postseason to see if I can lead the green and gold to the 3 in a row they should have achieved so many years ago. GO A'S!!!
Update: Won Game 1 2-0 behind a dominant Dave Stewart (8 IP 12 K) up 1-0 vs TwinsLast edited by Kritter77; 07-07-2013, 10:21 PM.Comment

Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
Had to jump right in and play the Opening Day game as my '90 Pirates. Wow, what a way to start! Sandberg tagged Drabek for a solo shot in the top of the 1st to put me in an early hole. Then in the top of the 5th singles by Salazar and Grace put the Cubs up 3-0. Bonds got us on the board in the 6th with a solo HR of his own, then Drabek helped himself out in the 7th with an RBI single to make it 3-2. Fast forward to the bottom of the 9th and Mitch Williams on the mound, Van Slyke leads off with a single up the middle. I had pinch ran for Bream earlier in an ill-fated attempt to tie it up, so backup first baseman Carmelo Martinez steps up and hits a screamer down the third base line that gets by LF Dwight Smith for a triple - tie game. Then after Son Slaught grounds out to a drawn in IF, Jay Bell hits one down the line past 3B Salazar for the game winner.
This is gonna be fun!Comment

Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
After going 4-2 through the first 6, I had a breakout in game 7. Willie McGee and Walt Weiss have been my leading hitters, along with Rickey Henderson who already has 9 steals. Dave Stewart is 0-2 with an ERA around 9. Canseco is hitting around .200 with no power so far. Anyway, McGwire had a 4-4 game with 3 HR's and a walk in Houston while driving in 5. Bob Welch (1990 Cy Young Winner) is 2-0 with an ERA under 2.Comment

Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
Did a fantasy draft! Ended up with this batting order...
1: Vince Coleman
2: Steve Sax
3: Lenny Dykstra
4: Bobby Bonilla
5: Danny Tartabull
6: Rafael Palmeiro
7: Jay Bell
8: Pat Borders
9: Pitcher
First game, we won 11-1 and Bonilla, Tartabull and Palmeiro all homered. Dykstra and Bell are a bit raw for starting duties, might look into help there.Comment

Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
Anybody know if its just me or do these rosters not upload for online league play. I kept getting a error every time I tried to import these or the 88 ones. I was trying to make a one person league with as close to old league format as I could get with Astros in nlComment

Yeah, they bring back a lot of fun memories. The Giants offense in '89 and '90 are pretty stacked, glad you enjoy them.Comment

Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
I tried to download the 1988 roster file in thread 21. I am sent to the host website but there is no link to download the file. Do I have to download a program to unzip the files? I have a RAR.Zip program already. Do I need another one?Comment

Re: 1989 Complete Rosters
No. On the first page of the download you see two columns. Click on the one on the right free download. On the second page about halfway down you will see a button that tells you to wait about 20 seconds to download. Once it reaches 0 you can then click it. You can then get the PS3.rar file. Easy from there.Comment
