Re: Turn Back the Clock: 2000 Season Replay-A Subway Series

This is a great set as we all can tell by now and I will be starting a franchise as soon as I can decide who the heck to be!
Here is my mindset right now.....
AL EAST......Believe it or not I'm a HUGE Yankees fan (take that Mr. Knighty ) and the fact that I can still use the old Yankee stadium is nice
Also the AL EAST is pretty strong with the exception of the Devil Rays....the Orioles have Will Clark who growing up was my favorite player....such as nice swing!
AL CENT.....only the Indians I would use BUT their pitching staff bores me.
AL WEST.....The A's are intriguing but I wouldn't use them....same with Seattle...great offense (AROD IS A BEAST) but boring pitchers
NL EAST- I think I'm going to end up using a team in this division BUT not the Mets! I like that when I play them I can use Shea Stadium.....like the Braves...like the Marlins....I'm leaning towards HOTlanta
NL CENT- BORING division, Cards are good, Astros are Stacked but once again another team that has a pitching staff that puts me to sleep.....speaking about sleep....geez my Brewers were bad, a pitching staff that is embarrassing to even think about!
NL WEST- The giants are the only team I would use
Toss up between the Giants and Braves I guess
Sorry for the boring post fellas....guess this could have been a blog instead lol

Re: Turn Back the Clock: 2000 Season Replay-A Subway Series

Well here is how i'm running this 2000 franchise...first and foremost it's awesome roster set Knight! decided to go ahead and make all the additions to the 40 man roster and set the 30 team control to have injuries ON and let the cpu control all teams roster moves except my lousy Cubs from 2000. (As a side note, in the astros system is a pitcher named Kip Gross...my family rents a home from him here in the his hometown area of western nebraska)

So anyways, in my opener with the Cubs Jon Lieber went 7 strong but todd van poppel got ripped in the 8th as the big Cat went deep for a 3 run shot. i trailed 5-1 heading to the 9th but got a rally going with Glenallen Hill hitting a 2 run single to cut the braves lead to 5-3 with 1st and 2nd just one out...but shane andrews grounded into 2 to end the game off John Rocker, who they brought in to put out the flames in the 9th...

game two was a big 10-7 winner...Glenallen with grand slam off of tom glavine and kevin tapani went 6 for the win.

planning on playing a non cubs game later tonight when i get off of work, unless i decide to get in some 2k11. haven't decided yet for sure...leaning towards this subway season replay via the Show!

              thoughts on cubs batting stances:

mark grace: pretty solid, would be perfect if the bat wasn't so straight up...
eric young: looks pretty spot on, good crouch and bat movement...
shane andrews: looks perfect to my memory...
Glenallen: seems good, he was very still at the plate with Cubs, looks good...

Oh Henry: must be pretty good, cause he sure struck out like the henry i remember in my opener against Atlanta...

Willie Greene: i remember him having a more wide open stance with the cubs...gonna see if i can find something that strikes me as more his stance...

Can't wait to use Kerry Wood in my next start! that might end up being my favorite part of this roster set, trying to turn woody into a cy young winner for the north siders!

Not a cy young start for kerry wood: 6 ip, 5 er, but he does pick up the win as i ripped kevin millwood and ended up with a 9-5 win. Henry Rodriguez went 5-5 with 4 runs driven in...i should trade him now! lol.

Nope, but he did in 1999 and then 2001 and so on. Im using the Braves and wanted to pick him up a season early, so I made a CAP but can't get a good stance for him.

His stance is in the game, I just can't remember which one. It's one of the generic ones.

After generic 10, all of the generic stances are stances that were in the game last year that had names. Like, I think generic 12 or 13 is Moises Alou. and they go in alphabetical order, so if you can find one you recognize, and work from there, you can narrow down where F would be for Franco.

Im pretty positive that Generic 33 might be Julio Franco's stance.

won 2 of 3 in my opening series with the Braves...tapani and wood were decent for wins and rick aguilera was solid as the closer...Then took the opener of a 3 game set on the road against the reds. Scott Downs started went six strong allowing only a 2 run shot to Bichette in the first. The guy who has been most impressive so far out of my pen is Kyle Farnsworth. fastball is electric and i blew some high cheese by Junior and Bichette in the 8th to set up aguilera for his 3rd save.

mark grace is my all time favorite cub and i've been a little over anxious with him early on drawing a couple walks but i struck out with him 3 times against pete harnisch.

Ismael Valdes gets the start next...gotta get Glenallen in for a start in left but Oh Henry has been pretty hot so far.

eyeballing the prospect Corey Patterson for an early season call up.
