    Re: 2011 OSFM Pitch Edits

I just took a look at this thread since i'm actually thinking about getting this game now (been playing a couple of other games). As far as the datedness of the edits pitcher's velocity does experience some changes from year to year. Their arsenal usually stays pretty close. Obviously changes in quality of pitches won't be taken in account. Normally I'd start from scratch and do a total overhaul so that these things are taken into account. If anyone is doing it this year I'd suggest 60ft6in to get pitches and Lindy's baseball preview magazine for other info. Just as a sidenote the owner of 60ft6in is taking a while to update so if anyone plans on doing it now then I'd advise using pitchfx on mlb.com as that's what i used prior to last year

EDIT: Also as far as the people claiming that the spreadsheet is from the 09 season that's not true. The sheet is accurate through early last year

And before you guys start posting on things relying on assertions and guesses like that please drop me a pm. I'd be perfectly willing to answer your questions

They are not. I won't be near the PS3 until later tonight so I can put them on there then or someone from here can do it.

I just downloaded these via my flash drive. Are you sure the 25 man roster is set that HustlinOwl worked on? I'm seeing more than 25 men on the 40 man roster. I'm seeing 40 men on the 40 man roster. Doesn't this screw around with lineups once spring training is simulated. BTW, nice job with the pitch edits. They look better than the box set.

Yes, my mistake. The 40 man roster is not cut to 25.

Cool, just wanted to make sure I wasn't downloading the wrong set. Thanks.

In all fairness there isn't that much difference between saying the end of the '09 season and early '10 season. Please understand I wasn't trying to put a smear campaign on the pitch edits project by saying that there outdated. However it's a fact that there was a lot of changes made in the last 3 or 4 months of the 2010 season to pitch ratings that would not be factored in with these edits and could potentially make some pitchers appear worse or better then they should be

I would absolutely love if you started another project that includes pitch ratings for the complete 2010 season and used the roster that is out with your old edits as a base

Well the difference is one wave of entirely new data that takes in account changes in the offseason. Not that much changes during a season compared to what changes between one. I do get your point though.

I'd like it if I could do that as well. However, I don't have the time to do so. The best I could do is organize a group of guys to most of the stuff and chip in when I can. Even if I did so it would be more work than previous years since some of my sources aren't updated yet since it's so early on. We'd have to use pitch f/x which would result in longer data collection times

First of all, let me say thank you to everyone who contributed to this set. I didn't have time to do my own set, so I'm going to take this and edit it.

With that being said, these still need a lot of work. That's not on RAZR at all, though. If these were an 09 to early 2010 set, this would be near perfect.

From what I noticed, most of the pitchers that I went through seemed to change a lot from 2009 to 2010 and quite a few pitchers changed their pitches from the first part of the 2010 after not having success with certain pitches. Also, some players have quit throwing pitches this season that were regular pitches for them in previous season.

I went through about 15-20 players this morning and corrected them. It does take a while using Pitch F/X.

Should we use this thread for posting any information on pitch specifics?

The players who need a lot of changes, from the few that I went over, are:
                            Brian Wilson
                            Clayton Kershaw
                            David Price
                            Josh Johnson
                            Yovani Gallardo
Scott Baker (Basically, just a velocity decrease for him.)
Joe Nathan (Also, basically just a decrease in attributes, due to his struggles from his ACL replacement. With that being said, that doesn't mean that he will not continue to strengthen the ligament as the season progresses.)
                            C.J. Wilson
                            Matt Harrison
                            Daniel Bard

I know there are more, but I can't remember who they are now.

Another thing is that there are way too many top pitchers whose clutch, H/9, HR/9, K/9 and BB/9 ratings are way too low. This is on SCEA.

^^ Honestly I'd recommend a full overhaul. A lot of pitchers have a velocity switch between seasons. As you mentioned there is a arsenal change that occurs as well. As of now the roster is updated through the early 2010 season so there's only one offseason of changes unaccounted for.

Having gone 6 games into my season ive just noticed Manny is still on the Rays in the previous release before these today, and possibly todays.

Best way to kill him in one team control?

                                Zero out all his attributes?

I only noticed as he was leading one of the AL East all star voting categories.
