They still need some polish of course and some "fill in" players but the hard part on those 10 teams are done. Lineups and rotations and all that stuff still has to be done with them as well. Its great to see it starting to take shape and I want to get it done and back to you guys to enjoy as fast as possible.

It takes about 30 min per team to transfer over to the master file, so when you get them done send them to me so I don't have to spend a whole bunch of time at once importing teams. I imported all 5 of the teams I have done tonight in one setting and I'm pretty sure I went into a trance at one point. lol

If you can't send them via sendspace.com using a usb drive and have to wait til PSN is back up, I totally understand. From what I read today maybe it will be back up this weekend. They said they hoped to have some features up within a week.

I forgot to mention the low contract thing. Did you notice as you imported players that they all have short contracts for low amounts? I haven't tested this to know if the edited players take the contracts with them, so to speak, or if the contract is associated with the player that is imported over.

It wouldn't take much to correct that. You can just go to the "Player Movement" screen in the "Manage Roster" menu and move the players into and out of one of the free agent lists. Or into and out of another team, I think. Anyways, it generates a new contract that I assume is based on their ability and age and so on. That ought to generate more realistic contracts.

If the contract belongs to the player on the master roster and stays the same even when the edited player is imported, then Sluggbugg will have to modify the contracts. If the contract belongs to the edited player, then each of us editors can change the contract before sending our files to Sluggbugg.

Or, we can choose to skip the contract thing (maybe some players will like the low contracts?) and let people do this on their own when they get the roster. I don't know, just some suggestions.

I vote that for right now we leave the contracts the way they are (low) and see how it plays out. We can run some test sims when we get the rosters set to see what effect (affect?) it has and make the decision then. Sound good?

"Effect" with an e is used as a noun, and "affect" with an a is generally used as a verb.

It isn't common, but when "affect" is used as a noun, it usually means an emotion or emotional response. For example, "he had a somber affect".

Normally, "affect" is used as a verb, and it means to influence something. So, you would affect the master roster by making changes.

Effect is used as a noun and primarily refers to the results of a cause. So, in your sentence above, we would run test sims to see what the "effects" would be.

              Re: Fictional Rosters

Just a quick update on how things are going and some decisions made behind the scenes.

The master file is coming together. As I'm entering the teams I'm also doing the 40 man rosters and AAA and AA lineups as well.

This is being done by all players edited by the people working on the rosters automatically put into the 40 man roster. Then obviously MLB or AAA decisions are made based on ability and age.

The AA roster is where things got a little hairy. At first we were just going to zero out all attributes of MLB players, give them "F" potential and call them MLB GHOST and change their age to 40 so they would retire quickly. Then we got worried that they all might retire at once and there wouldn't be enough new players coming in via the draft to compensate. I have no idea how the engine would deal with this problem.

So our new direction is to MLB GHOST only those MLB'ers that have had significant experience and have accumulated significant stats. The remaining MLB'ers that have low stats (less than 1000 AB's for example) we are making into generic "D" players that will have low attributes so they will hopefully hang around the AA level for a couple years before retiring.

Before coming to this solution the entire AA and A rosters were full of the MLB GHOST players. Using this solution we are getting only 12-15 MLB GHOST players per team. That is basically the A roster the first season. The AA roster typically is filled with the new generic D player.

I'm calling these guys "generic" because I'm going to create them very quickly. Quickly because we already have a ton on our plate and don't want to spend a whole lot of time on players that we really don't want to make it to the MLB squad anyway. They will have names and attributes. Their attributes will be low cause we really don't want these guys to hang around more than a couple years before retiring but they wont be completely useless like the GHOSTS.

I'm telling you guys I'm seeing this thing start to come together and its gonna be AWESOME when its all finished. I think its something we are all gonna enjoy a lot.

The pitchers for the White Sox, Indians, and Tigers are finished other than appearances, which I might have to leave for Sluggbugg, depending on how things work out here. The accessories should already be randomized, so there shouldn't be more than a few face tweaks needed per pitcher.

I should be able to get the Royals and Twins pitchers done over the course of the next week. Then I'll see if I have more time for appearances.
