    Re: Fictional Rosters

Here is a link to the half completed 60's style set.
    The N.L. is completely finished.
.....if anyone wants to run with it and copy the same style to the A.L. .....it's okay with me.

MUCH thanks to raliegh and slugg....and the rest of the guys who contributed. This is THEIR set really. I just tweaked it.

I'm gonna release a "SluggBugg" version of this in a couple of days. Its V2 that RM released with more "upper" level players added to it. I'm not saying its a better version than V2 so I won't call it V3 its just a version that I role with.

          Sounds good.

I'm trying to acquire the Ken Griffey games for next season if this project happens again so I can just slot in names rather than trying to come up with them.

Trying to keep this excellent thread alive...

I have not used real rosters since I downloaded these when they first were released. Loving the franchise mode with some minor alterations of some players. I had to make the Yankee vs Redsox mean something so, I beefed up their lineups but kept it sim and changed some faces and stances through the league.

I'm on year 4 with the Twins and it is nice to see players progress and see the vets regressing. You really do build a bond with certian players and it is really sad when they go to another team via free agency. I groomed Shojiro Ogawa, "A power hitting 1st baseman and franchise player" for 3 years and was going to sign him for big money and he decides to up and leave me for the insanly over powered Angels. So, I will be going for his head in our first encounter. It's also rewarding to bring up that prospect that you were grooming for the future and see if he can be a productive player or to trade prospects for a proven vet like Anthony Manning to feel in a major gap at the 3 hole. Also, resigning your players before free agency and giving them good well deserved contracts builds a bond and mutual interest to see if they will earn that money during the long haul.

The fueds that generate between teams are awesome and it makes me look forward to playing my rivals, wheteher it's a certian player or team. Facing Jack Barfield and his freaky change up or high 90"s heater is a real task. Trying to get the powerfull Theo Foreman out while keeping him from launching a 450 ft bomb really gets the pulse going.

So, since this thread is lacking traffic, post your thoughts, franchise moments and experiences of this terrific roster and thanks to all that made it happen

Dude I haven't play a regular roster game since I got my hands on these either!!!!

Barfield on the jays and coon the cubs....both nasty. The red sox lineup is stacked. So are the tigers and white sox.

The mariners and rays are sad, but they made some good pick ups in the the first draft and should come around in year three or four.

              So awesome!!!!

I am just wondering if Slug is still going to release the roster he was working on.

                  Re: Fictional Rosters

On my Franchise year 4 the Mariners are stacked. They traded and got Mac Harris who has hit 40 or more homers his 1st 3 years. They are loaded 1-7 and on their 1st game of the season they put up 15 runs. The most feared team offensively is the Angels out of their starting lineup they have 8 players who hit 30 or more homeruns, 1 that hit 49 and James Rodriguez who hit 54 and batted .356 finished 1st in homeruns, BA, and 2nd in RBI behind his teamate Arron Goodwin who had 49 bombs and 156 RBI. They got my best hitter in free agency Shojiro Ogawa who hit 35 homeruns and 112 RBI.

Toronto has the best pitching staff in baseball headed by Jack Barfield. They finished 1st, 3rd and 4th in wins with their 1st 3 starters. They have 3 legit cy young candidates for the next 4 years or so. Barfield went 23 - 4 with an 2.65 era and was 1st in strikeouts, era, wins, complete games and innings pitched. They do however have an aging lineup that is losing power and will need to re-tool in a year or so.

I re-signed my key players to long deals that will keep them around for some pennate chases. Anthony Manning, who is still a great hitter but has become much slower and 36 years old is signed to his 40th birthday. Hopefully he can produce and stay in my 3-6 spot of the lineup. My Twins can compete for the next 4 years as one of the better more complete teams in baseball. I have the 5th best pitching staff, top 12 batting and top 10 defensively. With my big 4 starters all 30 years old or less.

                  How is your franchise going?

I am also having a blast with these rosters.

Thank you so much for putting these together. I haven't started a franchise yet. I am still messing around with these, getting to know some players by playing exhibition games etc...

Trying to figure out what team I want to play with. It mainly comes down to which stadium I want to play my home games in really. Still haven't decided.

                      Re: Fictional Rosters

What I did was pick a team that I have no alliances with and that was the Twins. Trust me, you will get an attachment to some players and you will see who blossoms and who fades away. With myself I enjoy putting my team together and fitting in the missing pieces. Trading to compete now or trading for prospects for the future.

You should just pick a team and go from there. I am in my 4th season and I usually quit on other franchises. This however is awsome and I plan on getting 15 years out of my franchise....

The roster file is the last roster file that RM put up, then I added SEVERAL new players. Mostly upper level players. I don't have a list of who or even how many, but I know its probably around 75-100. Some young, some old. I think it "looks" a little top heavy, but I don't feel it plays that way. I say download it and play around with and see if you like it more or less than v2. You'll find a lot of new players regardless. If you don't like all of them you could just import a few that you do like into v2, if you think I added too many top tier guys.

Man, this sounds like a blast. I've been having fun using the excellent 1987 set (that set is crazy, as it has full minor leagues from 87, to go along with the MLB teams. Ramone is on the Marlins playing 2B, btw, which I found amusing when opening my Mets season), but this looks like it could be a real cool project to start up.

I'll look for the V2 in the vault. Did anyone take up Knight's roster that has guys based off the 60's? I wouldn't mind seeing a completed version of that, but the default rosters you guys created will work just fine.

Man i'm having a freaking great time with these as well. it's a great change of pace from using the real players, i love it to death...

what i did was do an auto fantasy draft, letting the computer do all of the drafting, just to mix things up then i rolled with the Twins, so far i'm 6-4 in my franchise, and i'm gonna play all 162 no simming what so ever.

the games have been awesome so far.. my last game was incredible, i'm down 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th with a man on second, and hit a bomb to straight away center that the center fielder jumps to catch and misses it crashing into the wall and he falls down, it takes a funny bounce that by the time the left fielder gets to it, i walk it off with an inside the park hommer, helps that the hitter had great speed.

wow that's the first time i ever recall hitting an inside the parker, that was sweet, i had a couple of heart breaking losses going into this one, with my bullpen blowing the games and this makes up for it, i love this roster to death, thanks a bunch for this.
