Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
Of course I only use the Dodgers, but I find that the other teams are very well done. I always use throwback jerseys and its very realistic. Yes, I would recommend you start a season and wait for the 40 man that can be played in the winter as we wait for MLB 13!!!!Comment

I do not know if PJ is doing the 40man, but i think that the 25man is good enough for an alltime roster, just turn off injuries for season/franchise. Also is bedwardsroy19 working on this project anymore? it is july and he hasnt posted anything since early may.Tigers|Wolverines|Red Wings|Pistons|LionsPSN - maizeblue13Comment

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
I am working on a 40 man (really only for the original 16 teams), and just about have the AL done. I can release it when the AL is done, and then another when it is fully complete. It is not only a 40 man, but includes 45-55 for some teams like the Yankees. It has been a ton of work. I also have tweaked the rankings to my selfish liking. Scooter has been helping with the faces. Looks really good, but just taking a long time. I used PJ's tremendous work as a base (and thanks to all those who helped on the original release). Will post the AL as soon as its complete (hopefully in 10 days or so). If anyone wants to help with teams that are not the original 16 teams, happy to have the help, just shoot me a message, or just start making players from the spreadsheet listed here on the first page, post them to the vault and let me know.
I started this as a personal project as I have my own ratings scale I like to use, and some of my own preferences but happy to share with all.Comment

Every team has at least 40 all time great players on it and most of the teams have closer to 60 all time great players or more. I'm pretty sure every player on the spreadsheet is in the roster I posted although there may may a couple players placed on a team that is different than the spreadsheet.
I started with some players from scooter, pjsnell, and mars and then created a lot of players to fill out each team's historic players. I've gone over each team a few times to try and weed out any screw-ups in faces, attributes, etc. I also sim'd a few seasons to see if the league leaders were reasonable and they looked fairly good.
Each player's physical attributes are taken from baseball-reference.com. The other attributes are based on baseballlibrary.com, Neyer's guide, and other resources. I adjusted each player's overall ranking based on their WAR value for the team they are playing on.
Feel free to use whatever players you feel would be helpful.
I'm currently playing a franchise using these rosters and am controlling the Twins and Rockies. It's incredible to see and play with and against the all time greats in the history of MLB.Comment

Just curious, did anyone do a fantasy draft guide with these rosters? What I mean by that is doing a draft and printing out the results so a person can gauge where certain players are drafted. I know it's a bit of work, but it's a great reference point to drafting a personal favorite team.Comment

I'd be happy to help. In fact, I've already posted a historic roster on the Vault under the name 40MAN ALL TIME GREATS using biebig2010 gamertag.

For anyone on this thread that is looking for a 40 man roster to use, these rosters look pretty good.
Have some personal differences on ratings/stances as I am sure people disagree with my ratings but overall it looks tremendous.Comment

Aghh!! Where the hell was this when I needed it! I had been looking through the vault but somehow missed this. Great selection of players. Just browsing through, looks really good! Wish I had seen this about 3 weeks ago. Sounds like you are doing pretty much the same thing as I in terms of research (only a whole lot faster). I might steal a number of these players if you have no objection. I might have a few differences, which you are welcome to use when I post them.

There are lots of personal choices when it comes to rosters like these and I'm not sure there's a wrong answer.
What team do you you put Andre Dawson on? Frank Robinson? Gary Carter? Dave Winfield? Reggie Jackson? The list goes on and on and on and quite frankly multiple answers would be right.
Also, WAR isn't the end all be all answer to who was better at a given position. There's flaws in it such as length of service (i.e. quantity vs quality). Mark Fidrych might be a good example. He's ranked 38th on the WAR list for all time Tigers pitchers because his career was so short. For a year or so though he was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. Do you really bury him in A or AA ball because of that? One school of thought is yes you do. Another school of thought is no way. Both answers are right depending on what you're looking for in the rosters.
At any rate, feel free to use as much or as little of my latest roster as desired. I put it on the vault so others could use if they'd like.
One other thing... if anyone finds any glaring mistakes or omissions please let me know. Things like wrong colored skin, wrong batting or throwing hand, grossly incorrect attributes, horribly wrong delivery or stance, etc. I'm not so much interested in minor details (everyone has their own opinion on attributes) but rather glaring mistakes.

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
Got it to work. You will have to be on-line, which means latest patch.
Go to League -> Create League
There are a lot of parameters here, so play around with it. You can set the number of teams, number of games played, how long the league should last, etc. Remember, this is technically an on-line league, so you'll have to play around with it a bit to get the schedule and playoff length you want. You can set the number of divisions, teams, etc.
Next you will set all the league rules and sliders. One thing to note here is that this is an on-line league, so set everything how you want it. You'll technically be the commissioner of the league, so you can make changes later, but not during games. So make sure you set your sliders.
Next (I believe it is the next step), you'll set your team. This is the team you'll be in the league.
There are more options you can set, then you'll set the other teams in the league. Select the other teams (make sure you had loaded the roster you wanted first. If not, and that roster is in the vault, it'll give you an option to download it then anyway). The important part here is after choosing the teams you want to be in the league, set all the other teams to CPU.
A schedule should then generate and you can then play. Again, it'll look a bit different since it is technically an on-line league. You probably won't be able to save mid game, and there may be some parameters on when your games need to be finished, so play around with those settings.
Finally, if you want to change teams, there is a screen where you can change the team associations. If it's just you in the league, you can just move your username to the team you want to play as and go from there.
Let me know if you have any questions. I didn't have time to do a step by step with screenshots, but it is really pretty easy. I just fumbled through it for 15 minutes and had a 16 team two division league set up.
P.S. Before I started the online league my pitching setup was on classic.Comment

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
Ok, I set up my online league to get the stats online (which is pretty cool) The problem I am having is I pitch in CLASSIC mode, but the online game uses pulse pitching. Is their a way to change this to classic? Other than that it works great.
