Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
I picked up this game earlier this week and one of the first things I did was download these rosters.
Tremendous work by all involved. Big-time thanks.
Growing up following baseball in the 70s, this really takes me down memory lane. I've only played a few innings with a couple of teams, but I really like how you nailed the pitching motions of players like Seaver and Ryan. When I have more time, I'm really looking forward to playing with and against all of the greatest players in baseball history.
I'm thinking of starting a 29-game season, where every team plays every other club once, and playing various teams, not just one, to see all the players.
It's great flipping through the schedules and seeing pitching matchups like Gibson vs. Clemens, Koufax vs. Maddux, Marichal vs. Lolich, etc. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

This seems unreal. I need to go buy a used MLB 12.
1. Is this for PS3?
2. Where do I download?Comment

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
1. This is for the PS3
2. You can download this in the "online rosters section", in the game.
This is the best historic roster that I've seen on any game. A collection of guys on this board put this together. The stats are all based on each player's career statistics, pitcher's repertoires are correct, stances, deliveries, player #'s, and super importantly to me, the players faces look as accurate as they can be. We've got some fantastic face makers on this site!Comment

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
Haven't had as much time to play lately, but I put the game back in a few days ago after a 2-week hiatus and was immediately reminded of how fun and addictive it is.
If you want 90-man classic rosters, I'd also recommend hoser's set, which I believe are based off this set with many additions. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
For years I'd been trying to finish a whole season with the show, I was finally able to play a whole season with these. I only used my A's, but it was a lot of fun getting to play against all of the different old timers, and having them actually look like their real life counterpart. I think I ended up 100-62. I still try to get a random game in every now and again, but having two kids now is taking up most of my time.Comment

Re: OS All-Time Classic Roster (The Show '12)
I am currently playing a complete season with these - something I've never done before. I'm nearly one - third done as I started in the summer after my 2012 Red Sox went belly up. It'll probably take me well into next year to finish it, especially when MLB 13 comes out but I'll be hanging on to MLB 12 due to the fine work of the folks that put these AWESOME set together. I'm an administrator of a Red Sox fan site and I'm posting my results there as I have some people following along. Feel free to check it out and thanks so much once again! http://www.redsoxnationfans.com/content/Pitching, defense and 2 out RBIs win a lot of ball games!

I found this almost everywhere. I know it is hard to compare eras, but I would have to edit each team I played against to re-rate old players because their stats were almost always diluted when 'compared' to more modern-era players.
I also think it was something like Canseco was incredible, Al Simmons (who is in the Hall of Fame; guy hit .390 one year, and had a career to back that up big-time) was decent. Sorry, Al Simmons is far superior (.334; .380; .545) to Jose Canseco (.266; .353; .515), not to mention that Al never used his head to give another player an assist on a HR. Just a personal quip, but that is the worst play I have ever seen in nearly 40 years of watching baseball. Guy is just a bone-head (pun intended if you want it). Simmons was a complete player, hit .390 one year (but also had many other great years), Canseco was a good player. I really don't see how he could have been rated as higher than Simmons the way he was.
Again, great work to the people who put the roster together; lots of good. Faces, names, numbers, pitches, lots of accurate ratings...but the further you go back in baseball history, the less the players seemed to be rated compared to the "stars" of recent times.Comment
