Hey, sorry about that but it's been a bad week.... not only was I banned from here but my webspace has (unknown to me, until now) been down!!

The links should now be working and I will leave the files up for the moment.

If you have any questions though, you might be better off emailing me via gmail, as having been banned, I probably won't be on here much.

Oh and if anybody is interested I have a half finished MiLB calculator that I can stick up.

Hey guys, I was also banned for some unknown reason so I haven't been able to post for awhile. I forgot to mention your calculator is an awesome tool for making rosters. I'm not as excel savvy as some other people, so can you please give me an idea how i access your formulas?

With the calculator open , If you look along the bottom of Excel for the 'Calcs' tab and click on it, this will bring up the worksheet where all the calculations are carried out.


Scroll down the page and you will eventually come to each attribute (they are separated by blue bars).


The calculation on the left is the one that is being used in the calculator and I have listed alternative formulas that could be used on the right side of the page.


If you would prefer to use any of them, it is simply a case of copying the appropriate formula for each year over to the left side. Important that you only copy the formula and do not copy and paste the cell.


Or you could use a formula of your own... feel free to share though!!

Just to say, the files I put up last night were old versions and I have now uploaded the more up to date ones.


The new versions use UBR to calculate baserunning ability and I also modified the original formula I was using, as it was giving yearly figures that were insanely high for those at the top end of the scale.


I have also gone back to using ISO to calculate the power ratings and am now using it as is, ie dividing by 3 rather than 4. (There was a reason I was using 4 but I forget what it was... think it was something to do with too many line drive outs in MLB 12)


Please note the UBR does not apply to the custom year files.

I have been asked a good few times about whether or not I create my own pitch ratings, so here is a link to a copy of the calculator that calculates velocity and movement for pitchers - I'm afraid no control rating yet.

Also here's a link to my MiLB calculator. It only covers players who played in AAA between 2011-2013 and I should point out that it just calculated as is ratings, as if the stats were achieved in the MLB.


I haven't decided yet whether to just take a % of these figures for the rating or whether to alter the player stats and then work out the ratings from there.

Both of these could probably be described as works in progress but I have no plans to do any more with them until I see what MLB The Show 2014 brings!!

Stamina: ((IP/G) / 7.34) * 100 for starters, (((IP/G) / 7.34) * 100) *2 for relievers

Clutch: use the clutch ratings on fangraphs and this scale (also from fangraphs) -

99 = 2
88 = 1.5
77 = 1
66 = 0.5
55 = 0
44 = -0.5
33 = -1
22 = -1.5
11 = -2

Position players: ((((C / (G/162)) - C1) / 0.5) *11) + R1
Starters: ((((C / (G/33)) - C1) / 0.5) *11) + R1
Relievers: ((((C / (G/61)) - C1) / 0.5) *11) + R1

* C1 = closest clutch rating on the scale rounded down (so 1.48 would be 1)
* R1 = the rating that corresponds with C1 on the chart (so 1 would be 77)

I came up with these by myself, I think at the time, 7.34 IP was the highest average in the league, and the clutch rating is simply the difference quotient set on the 0 - 99 scale. The other stuff I just use Bahnzo's calculator for, the formulas might be floating around somewhere in the forum.

I always assumed "C" to be the clutch rating from fangraphs.


For example Robinson Cano has a fangraph's clutch rating of 0.75 for 2013 so his calculation would be:

((((0.75 / (160/162)) - 0.5) / 0.5) *11) + 66

which gives a figure of 72.


I could be totally wrong though!!

All the links for my original calculator and the versions compatible with older versions of Excel etc can still be found on the first page for the moment (they should all still work) and they are up to date until the end of last season.


Unfortunately I can't change the first page as I was banned under that user name, so if you want the version that includes the pitch repertoires and ratings for velocity and break then this is the link:
