Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
OK there has been a bit more news of players being released. Brenly apparently was released as well now.
This is going off of what AZ Phil has said. I've always considered him to be pretty reliable when it comes to reporting the Cubs system. Here are some stuff he has posted in stories and in the comments on TCR.
So far he has said that these players might have been released.
Jay Jackson
Nelson Perez (replaced on roster already)
Jason Berken
He said about an hour ago that Michael Brenly was released. If this is true I will probably replace him with Noble.
AZ Phil also said the D. Willis is pitching for Iowa and is the only lefty reliever in their bullpen. Maybe something to consider at the last minute, maybe not for OSFM though.
Moscoso made it to AAA apparently. He'll push someone off the roster, but since he is an SCEA player he's easy to stick in if he does end up at AAA.Last edited by MrOldboy; 03-29-2013, 07:04 PM.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
The question is what to do with Jackson and Berken. I am tempted to just yank them out.
If they were released it would make it easy to add Beeler and Hatley in.
I will try to get them in with Moscoso, but that means 3 pitchers need to be removed. Here are the non SCEA pitchers in the roster now all created.
Kyuji Fujikawa
Hector Rondon R5
Nicholis Struck
Jay Jackson
Robert Whitenack
Tony Zych
Pierce Johnson
Dillon Maples
Duane Underwood
Trey McNutt
Juan Carlos Paniagua
Matt Loosen
Paul Blackburn
Starling Peralta
Armando Rivero
Jensen Lewis
Casey Weathers
Barrett Loux
Dae-Eun Rhee
Austin Kirk
I'd say Weathers would be first to get removed, along with Berken and Jackson if they were released. That would make room for Moscoso, Beeler and Hatley.Comment

If I was up to me, i'd drop some of the more fringy or oft-injured guys like Rhee, Lewis etc for more power-fastball, high upside young pitchers like Jose Arias, Austin Reed(big sleeper guy), and Taylor Scott.
Also here some really good reports on 25 sleeper guys who could come up big this year. Gives small scouting reports and Minor league destinations.

Agree on Weathers, Berken, and Jackson. Shame on Weathers and Jackson. Both had potential but have just fallen off the map.

I want to keep some low ceiling guys in there as they are further along, AA, AAA and have potential to play at the major league level albeit at a low level in the relatively near future. Personally I feel like having a realistic mix of low end and high end prospects makes franchise more enjoyable and realistic feeling.
In the end there just isn't enough room to include too many more guys and doing so will push others off. Once I put Beeler, Hatley and Moscoso on the roster will be entirely full.
Of course with any rosters you guys can edit the ratings and such to whatever you want.
Once the official OSFM roster is done I am hoping we can all pull together and make some more prospects with some of the "face maker" guys' help too. And then put them in the vault or all in a second roster file for people to import. For if people don't want Rhee they can import a player over him.
I have a bunch of players in my reserve pile like Devoss, Reed, Saunders, Golden, Bruno, Arias.
I tried to keep a few fringy guys in the mix though like Trey Martin.Last edited by MrOldboy; 03-29-2013, 10:33 PM.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
The thing is looking at other teams it seems like you want a mix of older, "low ceiling but close to it (D to C-)" and the "higher ceiling but further from it (C-A) players. I think this is why seanjeezy was saying try to get 100% AAA, to have a mic of older and younger players. I tried to get some guys from each potential level and I feel we should keep some D+ players to balance the roster out. I wish there was more of a bust system in place so that fringy guys really are fringy and have risks. C+ doesn't meant the same in scout terms and MLB The Show terms. In the Show it means his overall potential is 77-79 and it seems like they reach it unless you bump their ratings down a ton.

I really like the idea of doing those guys in the reserve pile for imports aside from the OSFM roster.
Don't know if i'd call Martin "fringy" he has a lot of physical tools and athleticism most organizational-types don't. He's just really raw. Defense is advanced though...could play CF in the majors right now.
But I get what you meant
We should definitely get together and make the high-upside prospects you have that got left off for imports.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Can't wait for next year on the PS4 when we should hopefully at least have Daytona and the rest of the High A teams in the game. I'm pretty sure SCEA is aware of the demand for more organizational spots and they're usually pretty good about providing it as long as the resources are available. Then you'll have 115 spots per club.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Hey guys so I just finished making the faces for the cubs. I made I think about 15 to 20 guys, and mroldboy had imported the rest over from last years OSFM.
When the rosters come out I would appreciate it if you guys can tell me what guys you think aren't so good so I can maybe improve them for a future set or next years game. Any feedback is welcome, there was a couple of guys that I couldn't find any good pictures to base the face off of so idk if they came out that great. But just let me know so I can improve them for the future thanks guys. Talk to you soon.Comment
