Javier Baez just took the first pitch out of the yard after hitting two (including a walk off) yesterday. I think we will really enjoy this guy whenever he makes it up.

He's homered three times in the last three pitches that he's seen. Crazy.Comment

Is it me, or is Baez looking better than any other Cub hitter, maybe except Schierholtz? They are both stroking itComment

Yeah. Baez got into a nice little groove. Good experience for him to have under his belt.
So Amrando Rivera received a $3.1 Million signing bonus. Yeeesh. He should probably be added to the roster, looks to be a solid MR prospect (with a quick return, being 25 and all).

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
OK, update. I have the players who are guaranteed to be in the roster ready to be put into the game including authentic's faces from last year when available.
I have MLB.tv to I've been combing through the recent ST games to get equipment and stances/motions for players assuming these would be the most up to date.
I'm trying to get more info on tendencies for players, especially the big name guys before I actually create them in game. But I'll probably do this within the next day or so and just go with general tendencies for players. I'd rather go with balanced or slight pull for them and move on than guess on their tendencies if its not clear.
Once I do enter these guys in I'll either post the roster file on the vault or post the ratings I used and you guys can give opinions on tweaks to be made. This is the part I am the most inexperienced at so any help/opinions on ratings would help me out a lot. So far this thread has helped a ton in getting these rosters as accurate as possible.Last edited by MrOldboy; 03-19-2013, 12:54 AM.Comment

Pitchers are another story. A guy like Pierce Johnson goes right at hitters with power stuff, he's not trying to fool anybody out there. Paul Blackburn, on the other hand, has decent stuff but relies more on good command and use of his arsenal, he's a pitcher not a thrower. Some guys like to nibble around the corners, some guys rely on offspeed stuff, some rely on the Fastball to set up the breaking stuff.
Lots of different approaches by pitchers. You can usually tell which approach one has by his stuff. If a guy has mid-90's FB and a hammer Curve he's going to come right at you for example. Don't know how you'd factor that into the game but that's the way to go.
I'll check out and suggest edits to the ratings when you upload them. Some Cubs rosters i've seen have certain guys ratings all wrong, especially the tricky ones like Underwood who's fastball can hit 98 on a good day, but top out at 92 on a bad day.
Let me know.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Vogelbach can definitely hit the ball to all fields. People think of him as a power-only guy but he has an advanced hit tool that will help him hit for a high average and use the entire field. Comp most scouts use for him is Prince Fielder in terms of power and hit tool.Comment

Great write-up by a colleague of mine on the Cubs top 25 prospects. Has good faces for each of them as well and he is very well respected
