ksig, what are your thoughts on evan gattis of the atlanta braves? not really a top prospect, but has cracked the braves top ten in some lists i've seen...it's also possible he could win the LF job.

You think he is a major candidate to rise?

I think I chimed in a nice piece on Gattis last year. Simple with Gattis, he hits, he plays and his bat has spoken. He'll play and he'll add needed organizational depth at the highest level. He's a Jack Cust type, maybe not as much power and playing time, but he'll chip in with the big club at some point soon.

Heathcott if he stays healthy DePaula & Bryan Mitchell are two others that Yanks fans seem to love.

Think Polanco, Hanson & Heredia from Pitt could be big risers. Think Guerreri could be the a top 5 pitching spec a year from now. Trayce Thompson is another guy I like a ton. Too many good candidates to list them all lol.

Thanks for your reply regarding my earlier question.

One of my personal favorites in the Pads organization is SS Jace Peterson. I think a good season could put him in the top 100 next year. I love his style of play and natural athletic ability.

He really reminds me of a smaller Aaron Hill. Switch hitting catchers are a nice piece. Is he mentioned as a top prospect in CIN? I have no issue omitting his size due to how compact his frame is for the position and I really like the prospects of his power. Nice player to watch, but I dont see him catching all that much helium.

Dont get me started on Trayce! He's been a kid I have loved since back before anyone knew who he was. I saw him several times in HS and every game he showed me one or two homers. My late mentor compared him to Frank Robinson. Thats something.

Wow Frank Robinson, that's an interesting comp. Raw power & speed is certainly there, if you really believed in the bat in high school, its not a crazy thought. Dude looks a ball player, I really think he'll be a good one.

Ksig, what is the best/most talented high school game you have ever scouted. My jr(05) year we played Russell County in the semi finals(Alabama), who went on to win the national chmpionship. Anyway, that series featured 4 1st rounders, 2 5th rounders, and a slew of other draft picks. I had a Brewers scout(Joe Mason) tell me that was the most talented series he had seen. We took the 1st game by beating Kiker(Tony Rasmus berated him on the mound) then Colby and cory beat us.
                          1st rounders
                          Kiker
                          C Rasmus
                          Colby Rasmus
                          Brandon Hamilton
                          5th
                          Joseph Sanders
                          Austin Adams

On an unrelated note one of the better hitters I played against was Cody Johnson from Panama City, Fl. I thought he was gonna rise fast but doesnt make near enough contact.I think he was traded for $500 and a case of beer. Haha

Tough question, as soon as I started reading your email I knew that you were eluding to that monster team. I have seen the Huntington Beach Edison team with Snyder (UCLA), Owens (Bos 1st Supp) Timmy and Christian Lopes (1-2nd). I also saw Chatsworth a bunch with Moustakas and Dominguez. I have also seen the Bishop Gorman team with the Harper brothers and Goey Gallo. The majority of the time you go to a school to see one player, two if lucky. I will post more if I can think of any.

Yeah it was pretty cool, there were several scouts with their guns out for Kiker and then like 1 or 2 for our pitcher's(Hamilton) 1st pitch. Every gun was up for his 2nd though. Detroit took him in the supp 1st but didnt do much background work there. He had no work ethic or desire, just a great arm and frame.

                                Ksig...

Who makes his major league debut first out of the 2012 draft class? Which high school bat makes it to the bigs first?
