    Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM

I just uploaded my Cubs roster set, it is simply titled "Cubs" and the upload name is King_Krook_05. I utilized sookiebunnie's "OSFM 0712 Update" roster as a base which obviously goes even further back to Mr_Oldboy and his work with the OSFM. All I did was:
    Import Players
Change Player Ratings (Both Majors & Minors)
    Change Player Positions
    Change 40 Man Roster
    Change Rosters at Each Level
    Set Batting and Pitching Order

Please let me know what you think of the rosters. My "final" version will come out on Monday after SCEA releases their versions of 2B Arismendy Alcantara, SP Tsuyoshi Wada, and SP Kyle Hendricks.

      Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM

I have been working on my roster all last night and all of today.
-I have taken all the teams in the league and placed all their players to the appropriate level based on their talent (best players in the Majors, worst in Single A).
-I exported all new rookies on the latest SCEA file from the entire season and imported them on to my roster instead of having the OSFM player.
-I made rating changes to many of the All Star Game and Home Run Derby contestants.

When I get home tomorrow, I will download the SCEA file and export all the newest additions over to my roster file, most importantly the three Cubs players (Alcantara, Hendricks, and Wada). Once that is complete, I may make a few ratings tweaks to the players depending on if I like them or not, and then I will make the rosters available on the roster vault.

This is not meant to be a "real life" roster, just a franchise roster with the real players, just without the real injuries and with the best players put at a level to compete. The Cubs roster is as follows:

      MLB:
      SP- Jake Arrieta
      SP- Travis Wood
      SP- Edwin Jackson
      SP- Tsuyoshi Wada
      SP- Dallas Beeler
      SP- Justin Grimm (Long Reliever)
      CP- Hector Rondon
      RP- Kyuji Fujikawa
      RP- James Russell
      RP- Pedro Strop
      RP- Wesley Wright
      RP- Neil Ramirez
      RP- Carlos Villanueva
      C- Wellington Castillo
      C- John Baker
      1B- Anthony Rizzo
      2B- Darwin Barney
      3B- Luis Valbuena
      3B- Mike Olt
      SS- Starlin Castro
      LF- Junior Lake
      CF- Emilio Bonifacio (2B)
      CF- Ryan Sweeney
      RF- Nate Schierholtz
      RF- Justin Ruggiano

      * is a player on my 40 Man roster. I recommend you change it to your preference.

      AAA:
      SP- *Dan Straily
      SP- James McDonald
      SP- *Kyle Hendricks
      SP- Barret Loux
      SP- *Chris Rusin
      SP- Eric Jokisch
      CP- *Arodys Vizcaino

      RP- Alberto Cabrera
      RP- Brian Schlitter
      RP- Armando Rivero
      RP- Marcus Hatley
      RP- Zac Rosscup
C- Yorvit Torrealba (Maybe Charles Cutler instead, but I like the MLB backup option)
      C- Cael Brockmeyer
      1B- Rock Shoulders
      2B- *Arismendy Alcantara
      2B- Logan Watkins
      3B- *Kris Bryant
      SS- *Javier Baez
      LF- *Ryan Kalish
      LF- *Josh Vitters (1B/3B)
      CF- Matt Szczur
      CF- Brett Jackson
      RF- Manny Ramirez

      AA:
      SP- C.J. Edwards
      SP- *Pierce Johnson
      SP- Matt Loosen
      SP- Tyler Skulina
      SP- Corey Black
      SP- Ivan Pineyro
      SP- Jen-Ho Tseng

      RP- Lendy Castillo
      RP- Dillon Maples
      RP- Tony Zych
      C- *Kyle Schwarber
      C- Willson Contreras
      1B- Dan Vogelbach
      2B- Chris Valaika
      3B- Christian Villanueva
      3B- Jeimer Candelario
      SS- *Addison Russell
      SS- Marco Hernandez
      LF- Rubi Silva
      CF- *Albert Almora
      CF- Billy McKinney
      RF- *Jorge Soler

      A:
      SP- Jake Stinnett
      SP- Duane Underwood
      SP- Paul Blackburn
      RP- Juan Carlos Paniagua
      RP- Gerardo Concepcion
      RP- Erling Moreno
      C- Mark Zagunis
      2B- Gioskar Amaya
      SS- Jeudy Valdez
      SS- Gleyber Torres
      CF- Zeke DeVoss
      CF- John Andreoli
      CF- Shawon Dunston Jr
      CF- Jacob Hannemann
      RF- Eloy Jimenez

I believe this is the best combination of realism, competitiveness, and prospects for the team in a 90 man roster limit.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

You might want to take a look at corey black. hes putting together a very nice season. 2.71 era 1.25 whip 83/44 k/bb in 83 innings. probably could use a ratings boost.

I updated the roster. Once again, titled Cubs and uploaded by King_Krook_05.

I added Tsuyoshi Wada, Kyle Hendricks, and Arismendy Alcantara.
I also made minor ratings adjustments to:
              Jeff Samardzija
              Jason Hammel
              Jake Arrieta
              Kyle Hendricks
              Corey Black
              Neil Ramirez

              Hope you guys like it.

First game of my new franchise with Arrieta as my Ace and the updated ratings threw a 129 pitch complete game shutout with only 3 hits, 1 walk, and 12 strikeouts. I must say I like the new and improve Arrieta; although, he ran out of energy at the end of the 7th, but I had the shutout going so why not.

Checked out the new live roster yesterday cause I always like to see how scea rates the new guys and I noticed they gave Alcantara a 96 potential. I like the kid and all but does that seem a little high to anyone else?

Just posted the roster I liked. The beauty of this game is you can edit at any time, so I did and made it available to everyone.

Does anyone have any good rules for franchise mode to make it more "realistic"?

                      I have a couple things I do:

-I will not begin trading until another team places someone on the trading block as a rule of thumb, so I am stuck with what I have until then.
-No call ups to any level for the first month except in the case of an injury.
-Only call up a player who is hot, but never replace a player who is hot (don't call up Bryant or Baez to play third when I am on fire with Olt in the majors), once again, unless they are injured.
-No more than one trade in a week except on the trade deadline.
-Try and keep trades realistic (I remember hearing that someone traded James McDonald to the Marlins for Andrew Heaney, no way that would ever happen).
-All players drafted can only start as high as AA, regardless of their ratings.

Are there any trades that anyone likes to do? I always trade Barney to Detroit for RP Bruce Rondon and SP Jeff Thompson, and switch him to a SS since they don't need a 2B. I still need good trade partners for RF Nate Schierholtz, 3B Luis Valbuena, SP Edwin Jackson, and RP Carlos Villanueva. If anyone has some decent proposals, please post them.

What is everyone's feelings on Kyle Schwarber? I am not able to get
online to the vault so I am looking to create him myself. Do you guys have
any input on his contact, power, potential, overall and all the ratings?
Looking for Mark Zagunis as well. Thanks in advance.

I think Alcantara should be somewhere around 88. 96 is definitely too high. In OSFM set I'm using, he's an 85.

Barney for anything higher than a C prospect is not realistic. A team could get him for next to nothing if he's playing like he is IRL.

                          Valbuena could go to Oakland
Jackson or Villanueva to any team that needs SP help at the deadline
                          Schierholtz or Ruggiano to Boston

Schwarber is the real deal. It appears to me they are fast tracking him to start in AAA next year an get a mid season call up. The big thing with him is going to be his defensive progression as a catcher. The Cubs have not given up on him playing catcher, and probably hope he can get good enough to play every day so they have more flexibility of who will play in the outfield. I think ultimately Kris Bryant will be in right, Jorge Soler in left and Arismendy Alcantara, Junior Lake and Albert Almora will compete in Center.

I think you're right about them fast tracking Schwarber but I think starting in AAA is a bit much with this front office's conservative track record. No matter how well he does in Daytona I'd be surprised to see him in Tennessee this year. I think, like Bryant, they'll leave him in Daytona the rest of the year, start him in Tenn. next year and if he continues to rake, move him to Iowa around the AA all-star break. Then an early season call-up to the Show in 16. As for where he plays, it'd be great if he can stick at catcher but I'd be shocked if it happens.

Everyone keeps saying Bryant in right, Soler in left but really Soler is better suited for right than Bryant is. Remember, Wrigley is one of the toughest right fields to play in MLB and having someone who's a natural outfielder out there may be a better option. I think they're gonna give Bryant every opportunity to try and stick at 3rd though as he seems to really want to stay there. (Possibly maybe even move Baez to left?)

I think you're right about center, except for Lake competing for it. Given Lake's poor approach, especially as of late, his inability to take a walk if his life depended on it and the talent level of the other two, I think his future lies A) with another team B) back in the minors or C) strictly a bench player. I think Alcantara will take ahold of it next year and the year after. Come 2017 Almora may force the FO into making a tough decision.
