    I have a couple things I do:

-I will not begin trading until another team places someone on the trading block as a rule of thumb, so I am stuck with what I have until then.
-No call ups to any level for the first month except in the case of an injury.
-Only call up a player who is hot, but never replace a player who is hot (don't call up Bryant or Baez to play third when I am on fire with Olt in the majors), once again, unless they are injured.
-No more than one trade in a week except on the trade deadline.
-Try and keep trades realistic (I remember hearing that someone traded James McDonald to the Marlins for Andrew Heaney, no way that would ever happen).
-All players drafted can only start as high as AA, regardless of their ratings.
My house rules are pretty simple.

I play with 30 team control so I can try to keep my Cubs team as close to its real life counterpart as possible in year 1. I won't call up prospects/players who haven't played at least 1 game with the real team. I will vary a little if it is a given that he will be called up in real life at some point based on my needs. Then in year two I run the team how I want to such as signing free agents, trades, call-ups, etc.

And then for the other 29 teams I check pending transactions everyday and play commissioner on all trades. I check team standings, line-ups, rotations, etc. to see if the teams would actually consider the trade in real life. For example, I veto all trades that a team in the playoff hunt is trying to trade a veteran starter with good stats to a team 10 games out for an A prospect just because the starter is in the last year of his contract. I will let trades go through if they are reasonable. Even if they are a little lopsided.

I finally got around to purchasing the game this year and I am loving it again. Does anyone know why the ability to edit shoe colors were once again taken away from us? I know in the past this was only a Cubs issue and I haven't checked with other teams, but as soon as I call a player up to the Cubs his cleat colors go all funky and they can't be edited. It's just frustrating because they fixed this last year.

It's been like that all year long.

My second week of the new season, Kris Bryant breaks his shin, out 2-3 months. Had to call Addison Russell up from AA to AAA and move Baez to 3rd base. His overall actually went up in the position change to third.

Now that's interesting, I wasn't aware position changes affected overall rating.

I am looking for a good stance for Bryant. Goldy hasnt worked, asdrubal hasnt worked, right now I am using Billy butler which is ok, but not the real deal. Looking for one that has a custom hr swing. Anyone have any suggestions?

Are there any trades that anyone likes to do? I always trade Barney to Detroit for RP Bruce Rondon and SP Jeff Thompson, and switch him to a SS since they don't need a 2B.

Barney for anything higher than a C prospect is not realistic. A team could get him for next to nothing if he's playing like he is IRL.
You're right, I will do Barney and Schierholtz to Detroit for SP Jeff Thompson and RP Bruce Rondon. Earlier in the season Detroit was showing a lot of interest in both players.

I am going to send Luis Valbuena to the Yankees for C Luis Torrens and 3B Miguel Andujar. Both have very low overalls, but are still teenagers. Not an immediate impact pick, but builds for the future.

I want to unload Edwin Jackson and Carlos Villanueva, not sure where to though. I actually pitch good with both of them.

Also Looking to unload Christian Villanueva and Dan Vogelbach. There is just not place for these guys in the system, it is too deep at 3rd and no need for a DH/1B.

Looking to end the first season with:
                  C Wellington Castillo
                  1B Anthony Rizzo
                  2B Arismendy Alcantara (SS/OF)
                  3B Javier Baez (SS/2B)
                  SS Starlin Castro (2B)
                  LF Junior Lake (SS/3B/2B/OF)
                  CF Emilio Bonifacio (2B/3B/SS/OF)
                  RF Justin Ruggiano

                  3B/1B Mike Olt
                  OF Ryan Kalish
                  C John Baker
                  OF Brett Jackson

I like Olt in the corner infield backup role.
I plan on finding a new backup catcher in a trade, but if not it will stay Baker.
Brett Jackson is not my favorite call up, but I play well with him due to his good fielding and baserunning ability. I can play small ball well with him. Plus this opens up an every day outfield spot on AAA for someone like Soler or Almora to take over.
Not gonna call up Kris Bryant this season due to his shin break keeping him out for 2-3 months. Probably going to finish the season with AAA unless he puts up some amazing numbers.

Unfortunately, I am already in July of my franchise, therefore am not able to import a player.

Would someone be kind enough to list a batting stance and reasonable ratings for Arismendy Alcantara ? As well as, any sort of gear/equipment edits?

                    TIA

Neither one of those are good. Sorry.

I just traded Schieholtz and Barney plus a generic 18 yr old B prospect for David Hale and Todd Cunningham. The Braves lost Freeman and Heyward for at least 60 days and Uggla has been ineffective. Barney is hitting .270/6/39 and Schieholtz was at .261/4/15 in part time duty so it works out well for them and I got to add an MLB ready starter to all of my positions prospects plus a 4th/5th outfielder to my depth chart.

Now I just need a realistic trade to unload Carlos Villanueva and I'll be set.

I think the default ratings from the regular roster update for Alcantara are good. As for a stance I find Trevor Crowe as the closest to Alcantara's.

I didn't check but I would say no. Players have to have played in at least 1 game and filled out all of their MLBPA paperwork before they can be included in a roster update. Hopefully next week he will be in.
