    Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM

I just read an article this morning about a Jasen Hammel trade to the Yankees for P Chase Whitley and P Joel De La Cruz.

From BleacherReport.com, your destination for the latest news on your teams and topics in sports.

De La Cruz is not actually in the game though, but this could be a set up for a realistic trade with the Yankees.

EDIT: Yankess don't want anything to do with this. I just tried it.

For Samardzija, I know they have talked with the Blue Jays about trades involving SP Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman. Both are 22 year old 71 overall A potential pitchers, plus you can pull another player out of them if you want.
I have also heard Samardzija to the Rockies for Jon Gray, a 22 year old A potential 72 overall pitcher, and another prospect or two. This would give the Cubs last year's #2 and #3 players drafted with Kris Bryant on the roster already.

Either trade seems to have great potential for the Cubs near future in the rebuild.

    I have already traded:
    2B Darwin Barney
    for
    Tigers
    RP Bruce Rondon
SP Jeff Thompson (converted to RP since he only has 3 pitches and 57 STA)

    RF Nate Schierholtz
    for
    Astros
    SS Jonathan Villar
    C Tyler Heineman

    CP Jose Veras
    RP Wesley Wright
    for
    Reds
RP Sean Marshall (should have never traded him away)

I am still looking to unload:
    SP Edwin Jackson
    SP James McDonald
    RP Carlos Villanueva
    3B Luis Valbuena

Let me know if you guys have any good trades you have done already or are thinking of doing.

      Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM

I started my franchise with 30 team control, and the Tigers tried to absolutely rob me, offered Anibal Sanchez and Joba Chamberlian, for.......Baez and Bryant.

Granted, this trade would not happen without 30 team control, however, that allows me to stop these things league-wide.

With my offense struggling the way it is, my record is 10-16, its going to be a long season, my plan to let Baez and Bryant each get more AAA and AA experience, will probably be thrown out the window, since I cant score runs to save my life.
      NFL- Green Bay Packers
      MLB- Chicago Cubs
      NBA- Milwaukee Bucks
      NCAA- Wisconsin Badgers

I'm just going to pop in hear and say I found a good batting stance for Javy Baez ever since he changed it this month. Marcel Ozuna. Seems really similar especially the load. Just had to share.

        ...carry on...

I'm not a fan of the bat "flicks" they added this year, they are too exaggerated and are early/slow. they should occur as a quick flick just prior to the swing. Ozuna, Lake, Cano, a few others I think. I hope they look at these from MLB 14 and perhaps try and make the bat flicks look a bit more realistic. Baez has a very fast bat flick which no stance in the game emulates well which is a shame

Any idea for a stance for Lake? Not a big fan of his default.

              Personally, I think it's pretty accurate. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-co...usy-Hands1.gif

So I guess just find something you're comfortable with if you don't like it.

He's changed his stance since spring training. He's more spread out now and doesn't point the bat down behind his back like he did in 2013. The stance in the game is pretty accurate to 2013, except the odd looking bat flick.

So far I just used Ramiro Pena, I didn't look too hard for a stance for him yet as I'm mostly playing RTTS and not franchise so I never see him anyways.

Not sure if I agree with that. I really like Travis Wood.

I agree. I am a huge Travis Wood fan; however, I am a huge Marshall fan as well, and if you look at the trade when it happened, we definitely over payed for him. We probably could have gotten him for some other player(s) instead, but I don't think the new regime wanted to pay Marshall all that top tier reliever money so they traded him.

Just like in real life, I am not sure what to do with Samardzija. What do you guys think:
                        A) Re Sign Samardzija
                        B) Trade to Blue Jays for SP Marcus Stroman, SP Aaron Sanchez, or SP Drew Hutchinson (I can only get two of any combination, not all three)
                        C) Trade to Rockies for SP Jon Gray and SP Eddie Butler
                        D) Trade to Orioles for SP Kevin Gausman, SP Hunter Harvey, and SP Eduardo Rodriguez.
                        E) Another trade I haven't legitimately considered.

By the way, these appear to be the most talked about trades I keep reading about online.

What is everyone hoping for in the draft? I try not to get my hopes up, but I am really excited for Pitcher Tyler Kolek. I always get excited about someone and they get drafted before the Cubs though like Carlos Correa and Jon Gray (got drafted after). I get that Baez and Bryant have worked out so far, and we may still get Jon Gray, but I get excited about players and never get them. If we can't get Kolek, I would settle for C/OF Alex Jackson.

That's a good trade. I will probably do that.
Has anyone found a good trade for Edwin Jackson? So far he is relatively difficult to move due to his salary. I would settle for a AA prospect or two, I just want him gone.

On a better note, Cubs designated Jose Veras for assignment today. I doubt anyone will pick him up off of waivers. Maybe the Cubs can find a trade partner.

                                also,
Ruggiano to SEA for RP Dominic Leone, and SPs Edwin Diaz and Tyler Pike

Stocking up on SP prospects. Here's what my rotation will look like by 2016

Aaron Sanchez (from TOR) A pot
Andrew Heaney (from MIA) A pot
My 2014 1st rd pick.. forget his name A pot
                                Samardzija
C.J. Edwards, Diaz, Pike, FA who knows. will trade whoever I dont use for outfield

Olt went down with an acl midseason and due to barney trade both Bryant and Baez are up in Aug 2014. Infield is set for future. Will probably move Bryant to RF because Olt was tearing it up. Bethancourt will give Castillo a run for his job. OF is unsettling. Soler is tearing up AAA but Idk if he should start every day next year. Lake, Boni, and Shierholtz are not permanent fixes in the outfield... will probs use free agency for outfielders
