Vizcaino was better than Grimm this spring I thought. Not sure why they decided to go that route.

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
Arodys just hasn't thrown enough, they want to ease him into pitching again, which I agree with. They want him to be a dominant RP, but he isn't quite ready for an MLB workload. You can't have a pitcher on the MLB roster that you need to be as careful with as Vizcaino.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
I'm planning to have the <18 yr old players be additional players as long as someone can make faces for them. I'm not sure if Knight wants players that young in since they can't be <18 in the game. If anyone wants to make them go ahead. Or if you got any thoughts on their realistic ceilings. I can always compile all of extra Cub's prospects and stick them in a modified OSFM file once its out for Cub's fans. They'll be 18, but in cases like that you'll just have to go in each year in franchise and lower there age each year until its correct.
Tseng is on the list of guys I'm considering for the main roster. Depends on roster moves as the season comes closer. Having the game come out a bit later will make this easier on me since I'll know most of the official rosters when work starts on OSFM.
I'm counting on some releases happening to make room for some younger guys, they can't keep everyone as depth at AAA.
Glad to hear you guys are making it a priority to make Jimenez and Torres vs a bunch of 28 or 29 year old guy at AAA who's a 11 year minor league vet as they actually have potential to contribute to the big league club at some point.
Also, although they're only 17, I believe people after simulating a season can just re-adjust their age to 18 in the 2015 season because they're created players.NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves
MLB: Minnesota Twins
NFL: Minnesota VikingsComment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
Knight said it was ok for them to be in even if they are too young so they'll be on the roster.
Depending on what the final AAA and AA Cubs rosters are there will likely be a few depth players like Eli Whiteside, Mitch Meier or Marcos Mateo since these players may see some MLB time just as depth fill-ins. (i.e. Cole Gillespie last year). There could be some more releases happening in the future as well as minor league rosters are finalized.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
Daytona announced a tentative roster. Almora, Vogelbach, Candelario are on it as it pertains to top prospects.
Vizcaino looks like he will start there as he rehabs from TJS I guess. I doubt for long though.

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
OK, I've copied over from my main spreadsheet the players likely to make it into OSFM. Its sort of a mess right now with notes and ratings projections so I didn't want to post that quite yet.
Depth Chart
Right now there are 87 players. This includes SCEA players and some depth players. I left a few open for debate. This isn't my working list so I may have missed someone when I copied the players to organize them into the depth chart. Let me know if you catch anything. Positions are also tentative, they'll get finalized once its clear exactly where everyone will play.
I've highlighted the players that I'm planning to put into OSFM in yellow. Grey are SCEA players.
If anyone has any players they would like to see, or taken out let me know. I'm open to any suggetions. I'm still finalizing potentials, but frankly they'll be around what you guys expect and have posted about already.
I will be out of town from Thurs-Sat on a research trip. I'll have internet access, but won't be able to work much on OSFM until I get back. Ill try to check out the thread while I'm out there for any transaction news.Last edited by MrOldboy; 04-01-2014, 01:32 AM.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
The list looks good. As a personal preference and I may be alone this but I always like it if the AAA roster is accurate. I know some would rather have more A level prospects but I always play the first season exactly as the Cubs do, meaning I won't call up someone unless the real life team does.
I think your list is spot on with who is definitely in and who your are thinking about adding.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
We'll see once the AAA roster is finalized. They haven't announced it yet, but I have nearly everyone there. I have more than enough players on OSFM to fill AAA. The only ones I left off that may be there are Meier, Anderson, Hottovy, Pimetel, and Negrin. Pimetel may make OSFM for just being a prospect as well as he had an ok 2013 season
I have 3 spots open for a reason in case someone like Lars Anderson is needed on the roster due to him being considered depth by the Cubs. If we get more into the season and he looks like a candidate to get a call up at some point he should be on the roster. Or he could be released, injured, etc.
If anyone has any potential/rating projection opinions go ahead and post them, I consider anything you guys post since this isn't just for me. I want it to be as fair/balanced as it can be. Remember though that a B+ prospect in real life does not necessarily equal a B+ prospect in The Show. Enter in your projected ratings into the created player and that overall should be his ceiling potential. Its why I haven't finalized the potentials, I want to see how things have changed from last year once everyone gets their hands on the game. Also remember to consider risk. Sure Arodys could be a flame throwing dominant closer, but he has a very high risk associated with him at this point.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
Yeah I guess I'll have to wait for the roster update for his service time if they add it. Its what I expected though and I'd rather create him with what we feel are realistic rating/potential projections anyways. Hopefully his face is god so we don't need to make it or transfer from another roster (OSFM 12?)
Pineiro is interesting, when I saw that on the transaction tracker I thought it was some minor league resigning or something. I though Joel Pineiro decided to hang it up.Last edited by MrOldboy; 04-01-2014, 03:36 PM.Comment
