Put me down for Milwaukee, you knew I couldn't stay away. Hahah.

I'll work on coming up with who we're putting in, then we'll work together on ratings and pitch types. Just need help with some research this year. And then I'll imply it all into the game when it drops. I have spring break not next week, but the week after, so I should be good. I'll aim to have everything done by the time the game drops so I just have to plug it in.

I know the official thread is up yet for discussion, but I am curious if it will be generally ok to edit potential for SCEA created prospects. Someone like Mike Olt should be in the game, but the potential given to him may not line up with what I would give him if I had created him. Is that going to be an option this year?

Re: MLB The Show'14(PS3 and PS4)-Operation Sports Full Minors-RECRUITING

here there are some impressions about new cuban players. I always watch the cuban league and know these guys very well. I hope i can help in a realistic way. I start with these five....if you have any question about these or other player just tell me i will help.

              Sorry for my english.

1- Arruebarruena (Dodgers) is a natural shortstop, very quick hands, cover a lot of range, very good arm, he looks espectacular covering the field (that could be a problem sometime) He definitly is a defensive jewel, deffensively he is ready to play at the higher level.

offensively he is a work in progress, these are his numbers in his last two season in Cuba (90G): ( AVE 333; 21 2b; 9 3b; 8 hr) (AVE 301; 92b; 2 3b; 6 hr).

I think have to work in his strike zone and the count (23 BB/40 SO in 94 games) and (24 BB/37 SO in 76 games) in last two season.
In my opinion he should be a shortstop who hit around 260-290 AVE (i think in his first season would hit around 255-265) and the hability to develope decent power to hit around 12-15 HR per season.

About running he is pretty fast running the bases and has the hability to make some 3b but his hability to steal isnt good (10-8 and 8-6 in last two season) he is fast but has not very good steal hability or at least has to work in that area.

2-Aledmys Diaz (St Louis) Aledmys defensively is very secure, has not the quick hands of Arruebarruena or his range but play a good defensive (ready in this aspect to play at higher level). very good arm and can play SS, 3B and 2B in that order.

his last two season stats (90G): (AVE 293; 19 2b; 1 3b; 7 hr). (AVE 302; 11 2b; 2 3b; 13 hr). He has much better plate discipline than Arruebarruena 62 BB/26 SO and 40 BB/28 SO his last two season and that is maybe why he hit for better AVE at present.

I think he can hit around 280-300 and hit around 15 hr per season. In his first season should hit around 275 and 8-10 HR.

Running he is slightly over average player with standar steal hability but i have to say that he show a lot of progress in this area his last season (2-2 and 11-4 last two season). He should be slower than Arruebarruena and with a little more steal hability.
3- Alexander Guerrero (Dodgers). Alex defensively can play SS and 2B, has not Arruebarruena range but like Aledmis he is secure and can play; has a very good arm.

But his potential is ofensive. despite his stature he has a very good power; hit consistently 19, 19, 22 and 21 HR in his last 4 90 games season. AVE: 343; 310; 290 ( 40 BB/ 42 SO and 39 BB/ 30 SO.

I think he can hit around 280-300+ with around 22 hr per season. hiting 275-290 and 16 hr his first season.

Running he is not a good stealer, and his base speed is slightly above standar, he is not a slow player but neither a Leonys Martin.

4-Jose D Abreu (Chicago) This guy despite his weight has not a bad defense, he has not a ton of mobility and is slow but is a very good glove.

Offensively speaking has to do some adjustment in the plate, specially with right hander sliders outside the strike zone. His BB/SO range is this: 80/43 and 58/43 (he take a lot of intencionally BB too) i think in this two season he has make good progress in his plate discipline.

              hit 30, 37, 37 and 19 hr his 4 last 90 game season. with 388, 448, 394 and 344 AVE.
i Think he can hit 300+ and 35 hr per season (280 and 25 hr his first season). Abreu has tremendous power, he is a very strong player, capable of hit the ball bad and put it out of the park anyway; anyway he can hit for good AVE, 300 plus, has very good contact.

Running you wont see him stealing and has below average speed.

5- Yenier Bello (Atlanta) Bello is an average defensive catcher with a decent arm (19 SB and 21 CS) and (23 SB and 26 CS) (992 and 986 defensive AVE in the last two season).

Offensively has good power (21 and 15 last two season), he has show a little inconsistency AVE (264, 302, 260, 320, 280). I see him capable of hit 260-280 with around near 20 hr per season. (his first season hiting 260 with 18HR)

he is a slow runner and dont see him stoling bases.

Re: MLB The Show'14(PS3 and PS4)-Operation Sports Full Minors-RECRUITING

Heard this on a podcast today and figured I'd share.

To whoever is making the Houston Astros:

Jonathan Villar did not make a single out while running the bases last year. Just a heads up to make sure that he's not just a fast runner, but his ability to run the bases is among the best in baseball.

Also, regardless of how anybody feels about Matthew Berry, his 100 facts article has some good points when it comes to making rosters.

                Examples:
Sabathia throws 91mph. No more CC throwing 95mph consistently.
                Dickeys "fast" knuckler averages 78mph.
Guys like Chris Johnson and Michael Cuddyer are more lucky than good. If last years stats are used to project someones attributes, they would be very overrated players in the game.

There are more. Here is the article: http://espn.go.com/fantasy/baseball/...baseball-draft

I hope some of this may help and look forward to the rosters as always.

and P.S. if it's the same dude who made the Twins last year, Aaron Hicks bats .192/.259/.338 and would strike out almost 200 times in a full season. Adjust accordingly.

Yep, potentials. I know we don't change the ratings or anything on SCEA players. Just thought that there are cases where the potentials they give players don't match up with what roster creator's think they should be at. Now we can edit potential without recreating the player.

What will be key this year is making sure the potentials match the ratings of existing players to an extent too. I know with Indians rosters guys like Cody Allen and Vinnie Pestano come in rated with an 80+ overall but C or D potentials causing their ratings to drop off drastically in only the first season of a franchise. Being have to bump them up to B so they can have a few years of relative stability with their attributes would be great!

Exactly, its great that people now have a tool to somewhat "correct" what they might feel as overzealous regression in some cases. I was speaking strictly of prospects such as Olt, Gausman, Walker, etc who had short debuts in 2013 though. But it makes sense for any player really.

I don't know if Knight wants any editing beyond that, but if we do change the potentials it might make sense to make sure their ratings match as well if there is a need for them to be adjusted at all.

I think we should just stick to guys who were rookies last year (and this year) and we can make a separate thread for everyone else, at least for the opening day roster.

                          Edit:

Oh yeah, hey Knight the prospect charts for hitters is scaled to ~600-630 PA's right?

Oh yeah, hey Knight the prospect charts for hitters is scaled to ~600-630 PA's right?
                              Yes.

Hicks had 84 SO in 81 g and 313 PA. So he'd get a little under 160k for 600 PA. Not quite the '200' territory.
