Willard, Thank you so much for the all the hard work you put into these rosters. That thank you is extended to the rest of the team as well. I will be looking forward to starting up my Franchise with this wonderful set.

Re: OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release
So fielding is off of his percentage, not his actual fielding skill? The past performance makes sense for Abreu, but he's no elite fielder at age 41.METS. NY FOOTBALL GIANTS. PENGUINS. HURRICANE FOOTBALL. LEBRON.

Re: OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release
Yankee OF prospect Mason Williams is suppose to Bat Lefty and Throw Righty. Right now in game, it's the other way around. I noticed that from the original OSFM rosters though. Just mentioning in case anyone wants to fix it. Love how these look though! Starting my franchise now!
I agree this roster is unbelievable! Willard and co. do you want us to point out corrections that need to be made?? I see that Ike Davis has #34 when it should be #15? Not sure if you guys want to make any corrections or not, and I'm not trying to nitpick just wasn't sure if you guys want to make corrections or not for version 2. Thanks again!
I'll dive into these later tonight when I have control of the television but what I'm hearing is a lot of confusion. Especially considering Puig is the best right fielder in the game, overall and his defensive stats aren't even close to Braun and Braun isn't even close to him defensively. Can you explain this Willard? Maybe cause Puig is so young you are allowing him to grow into it? And that pirates prospect you missed on is critical, he's a part of the future! And arrendo is one of the top 3 defensive third basemen in MLB, his hitting is more of a surprise to the Rockies and was brought up due to his amazing defensive skills. Maybe it's just people on here overreacting it just has me more anxious to check these out! But worst case scenario we have OSFM v2 which is almost perfect and I'll probably do pitch edits myself to that roster and post them if it's ok with KnightComment

Re: OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release
I will gladly be willing to try and give any objective help I can on defensive re-rates.
Probably the best defensive metrics to date IMO are UZR and it's sub metrics, which breaks it down to range (probably reaction?), Error rating (probably fielding?), double play rating (??? maybe consider it when doing fielding rating ???), and arm for OF (which measures only effectiveness not accuracy or strength so would have to rely on player reputation there). There are equivalent numbers for catchers on runs prevented by blocking balls, and by throwing out runners. I am sure the roster creators are aware of most, if not all of this, and that there aren't ZiPS or steamer projections for these (that I know of). But there is some good data out there on defensive metrics. I am a complete neophyte when it comes to roster making, but I love baseball, and have loved the realism these rosters bring to the game. If I can help, then let me know.Comment

OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release
Can you come up with some ratings? We're very much aware of the existing defensive metrics and you're right, there are not ZiPS or steamer projections we can pull from. We just don't have that much time to devote to creating our own defensive ratings. Willard can you fill you in more on what ratings he's been working from.
I've would just use 2013 fangraphs data
Arm Strength
Arm Accuracy
Reaction=Instinct
Catching=Hands

Re: OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release
Could average instincts and 1st step for reaction rating.
Average hands and release for fielding, then arm accuracy and strength are there.
Rookies would be SOL, but could work with them based on how they compare in available metrics like UZR when looking at the other guys who have scouting report info….though same goes for MiLB players and they don't even have UZR data.Comment

So wait why do some players like Bryce Harper, Zimmerman, and Gio not have their actual photos?Comment

Re: OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release
Quick Question:
Since the ratings seem to be weighed by position, if I were to change the primary position of a player (example: Peter O'Brien has moved to the outfield from catcher in the Yankeees' organization, probably for good), would that mess up the offensive ratings that you gave him because now he's not at catcher and he'd need different ratings for a different position? Thanks!Comment
