Yes I definately tend to flick the stick down but oddly enough never really thought about it until you mentioned it. I also have trouble with the high pitches. I had also increased the pitch speed slider a little bit but it makes sense that by lowering it it may actually make hitting a little more difficult. It would be cool if you could change the speed as it "appears" for each pitch as you could in HH2004 on Xbox as there were individual speed sliders for each pitch type.

Another reason why high pitches are hard to hit is because the trajectory. On high fastballs they look the same out of the pitcher's hand as does a changeup or really any breaking ball that's lower in the zone. So when you see the high fastball you think it might be a changeup or breaking ball for a split second and then realize it's a fastball and you are late to it.

The very first thing you do is go edit every single player you will be using. This is a must. You have to edit down every players contact all the way down to nothing. Move it ALL the way to the left so every player has a contact rating of 0 both LT CONTACT and RT CONTACT. You must do this. This is the most important part.

Now basic settings (I'm only going to post the ones that I feel have an impact on gameplay)

        HOF mode
API OFF (too many fastballs are thrown to me and they are too easy to hit. I think it's done perfect because that's how it is in real life but too many fastballs are too easy to hit in video games)
GUESS PITCH ON (don't use it though. this is just so you can use the swing analysis feature)

        now onto the sliders

USER CONTACT: all the way to the left (0)
        USER POWER: -8
PLATE AWARENESS: all the way to the left (0)
CPU PITCH AGGRESSIVENESS: all the way to the left (0)

PITCH SPEED: all the way to the left (0)
PITCH COUNT: all the way to the right (maxxed out)

Every other slider is obviously left at default. I wasn't about to type every slider and say default next to it LOL.

This has helped me toning down the hits. Now you will actually pull balls but it's still hard to do. I was zoned in and hit a 3 run homer to Mike Lowell because I really concentrated and got my pitch. The best part about it was I pulled it over the Monster. Something I didn't do ever. I hope these help anybody out there that is finding hitting way too easy.
PLATE AWARENESS: all the way to the left (0) - please explain. Shouldn't this help you cut down on strikeouts? I have this 2 clicks up from default and my strikeouts are averaging 3-4 per game. Much less than last year. Also, do you leave CPU contact and power at default? I find the cpu gets too many hits (not enough runs) also. Lowering power ob CPU may lead to more hit variety as well.

          I don't understand your question.

I agree with you about the CPU hitting and lack of scoring runs. I am pitching with probably the best staff in baseball and no I'm not being biased (Red Sox) so I will have to see what happens after a while. I hate pitching with Wake there is no strategy involved lol.

I think Power swing is why you are having trouble...thats not very sim

usually power swing is 2-1, 3-1
Have you tried hitting just using contact? on HOF mode?
I am sure you will see a difference

I can give it a try but I don't see how this is going to help me getting fewer hits. Power swing hits the ball harder but timing has to be better. According to the game the timing window is smaller and you have a greater chance of popping out when using the power swing.

I will give it a try though and see for myself. I was just under the impression that if I am getting too many hits why would I use a contact swing which would increase my chances of making contact??

So far with these settings things are going pretty good. I go some games that I only get 6 hits and some where I get 11. Then there's the games where I get to the pitcher early and I end up with 15+ hits because of the confidence. I am just going to have to start doing mound visits for the CPU. I really wish SCEA added CPU mound visits this year.
