Monk31's PSP Sliders: For Experienced players only

I've been tweaking my sliders from time to time in my season mode. After 82 games now I finally got shutout for the first time (and I'm happy) and I feel like I've finally got the product that I'm looking for....Remember these sliders are for PSP players who find themselves winning TOO much like myself.

I'm going to give these a shot. I stopped playing a few weeks ago b/c I was winning every game and only hitting singles or HRs. I really enjoy this game and it's a great portable title.

2k8 froze up on me again yesterday (360), so I think I'm going to trade that in as part of the 2 trades and get a new game for $19.99 deal at Gamestop.

      Zobrist 1-4

      Pitching
      Kazmir 7.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
      Wheeler .2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
      Percival 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

      WP: Kazmir

I know it's just 1 game, but I am really, really happy with these sliders. Nice variety of hits; I turned several awesome double plays and the pitching on both sides was really strong.

Looks like it's time to start up a new season.

I play on the ps2 but I will ask this for psp users....has anyone seen any true throwing errors? I mean throws that just sail completely over the 1b head?

I have seen throws that the 1b had to leap for, but I have never seen any get by him.

I think throwing errors (errors in general to be honest) are flat out broken on the old gen systems this year.

No....throwing errors just don't happen...at least on the PSP. It's something I hope gets fixed for next year...fielding and throwing errors.

Djwlfpack....I hope they work for you...play a few games and give me some feedback...good or bad...How's the pitch speed? Do you have to turn it down or is it fine how it is? Those stats look pretty good for one game. Hits are ALWAYS going to be kinda high...and we just have to accept that....but since walks are also going to be low it can kinda even out.

Also 2 runs by with good pitching is good(Kazmir) but if you find you keep holding your opponents to 2-4 runs a game try bumping CPU contact up to 15 (from 12). I'd like to see your stats about 2 turns through the pitching rotation. Best of luck!

Sounds good. I'm going to play a bunch of exhibition games before I re-start my season, so I'll use different teams each games to get a good cross-section.

Pitch speed is really good, you really notice it if a pitcher mixes his speeds well. Francis's off-speed stuff was really throwing me off-balance early on. Fastballs come in fast, but not so fast that you can't react.

Re: Monk31's PSP Sliders: For Experienced players only

Played a few more games with these sliders and, for me, they are just about perfect. I had to turn down the pitch speed 2 clicks as I was striking out too much with it maxed out - Hamels rung me up 14 times!

I'm 1-2 in my 82-game Mets season. Santana picked up the win in the opener and struck out 13 (same game Hamels had his big game) in a 2-1 win. Philly won the next 2 games 8-1 and 6-3.

I'm seeing a good variety of hits and the CPU has stolen a few bases, which is nice to see.

If you start losing too much then yes tone down the sliders, but I feel that it is important to be able to lose...a 130 win season would be extremely boring.

yes I have seen throwing errors over the first basemen but it probably is too rare.

Agreed. I really doubt I'll touch any of the sliders the way you have them. Even with dropping the pitch speed down 2 clicks (from the max.) I still lost those last 2 games, and also lost another to Florida.

I never mind losing as long as it's fair. The CPU has beaten me fair and square. I'm just not strining together enough hits at the right times and Delgado is in a major slump to start the season. Hopefully those trends will turn around for me.

thanks for the sliders. i can't wait to try them out. i was wondering if you ever use the power swing, or if you use the contact swing all of the time?

I use both, however I use the power swing sparingly. I feel like at-bat to at-bat you can consistently make better hits using the contact swing, but I use the power swing when I'm looking to gamble a little bit, often only with the big bats.

I don't play guess pitch so the ability to check swing on an offspeed pitch that is low that initially looks like a fastball is invaluable.

Re: Monk31's PSP Sliders: For Experienced players only

I'm 18 games into my Mets season (82 games) and sit at 6-12. Just like in real life, my bullpen has been TERRIBLE! I've blown 4 saves and nearly given up a couple more.

On the whole, my team is hitting .276, which is good for 11th out of all MLB teams. My ERA is 3.62, which puts me 9th. I'm seeing a good variety of hits by myself and the CPU.

Big things for me is that Beltran and Delgado are both struggling big time coming out of the gates. They'll K with runners on, or pop up or ground out. Very frustrating. I think they have 3 combined HRs. Ryan Church has 5.

My starting pitchers are doing OK. Santana is dominant. Pedro battles but gives up runs early. Maine and Perez are hit-and-miss. Pelfrey has actually been really good for me.

I don't think I'll make any tweaks. I just need to play better.

I've found that I tend to go on streaks. I'll lose 5 out of 6 and then win 6 out of 7, and things like that. 6-12 may be a rough start but looking at your Avg and ERA you should be better than 6-12. Perhaps you've been a bit unlucky? Like you said about your bullpen struggling. I'm just curious, how many runs have you scored and how many have you let up?
